There's a catch 22 to beloved shows - they end too early and you're always crying about what never got done; they're on too long and they burst into a flaming fireball of badness. And 'flaming fireball' isn't redundant, it's...poignant. Or something.
I just read some spoilers for upcoming Gilmore Girls eps - and I know, I know - spoilers aren't always the most reliable. Although this particular site has been pretty good about relatively accurate ones.
So apparently down the road, Richard has yet another "health crisis" where Luke is helpful!man and Christopher is sulky!man due to a fight he and Lorelai had. And this leads to a Lorelai "epiphany."

- *headdesk*
- Like, EVERYONE saw this coming. It was so, so, so obvious that Lorelai/Christopher wouldn't last, but yet they (for some reason) went ahead with it. Poor Chris, is really all I have to say about that.
- So...one act of human kindness will erase a year of shit she went through with Luke? It would be one thing if this "epiphany" would only involve her relationship with Chris, but we all *know* it won't.
- I've now decided I don't want Lorelai with either Chris or Luke. And I used to be a Luke/Lorelai shipper. Seriously - it's painfully obvious that Lorelai is incapable of having a healthy/mature relationship. Instead of a boyfriend/fiance/husband, she needs therapy.

Never seen Gilmore Girls. But I'm butting in with...
You could replace Lorelai with any woman in one of those will-they-won't-they TV relationships. (Scully. Maddie. Maggie. Aeryn to a certain extent, although at least hers was to be expected, and it played out much differently from other types. Janeway. *cringes* I could go on.) If the show goes on for a while with that relationship as its main focus, the poor UST-stricken sods can't get together within any reasonable timeframe, which leads to writers having to make them ever crazier to keep them apart. And usually it seems to be the female part of the pairing who gets hit with the crazy stick. (Although sometimes it's the guy. Sometimes it's both! That's fun.)
And yet I'm still drawn to the bickering UST like the proverbial moth to a flame...

Yup. Maybe it *is* better if shows with major UST focus aren't around too long.

Or that they just put the couple together and use that for plot fodder. It has actually worked in some cases, although they're few and far between. *sigh*

Best line ever.
Either JAG cured me or I just don't care as much about Luke/Lorelai has I did Harm/Mac. Cause if that spoiler was about Harm/Mac I would totally being spazzing right now. But not so much for Luke/Lorelai. I just don't care anymore.
