Five times the Doctors means five times the wacky.

Got "The Five Doctors" in the mail today which I am so totally jazzed to see. (Yes, I said "jazzed.") Both [livejournal.com profile] wiliqueen and [livejournal.com profile] elismor have mentioned the giant mounds of crack associated with this episode. Actually, it's quickly becoming a pet theory of mine that all writers for all incarnations of Doctor Who were/are completely high.

I may need to do screen caps of it!

Giant, giant mounds of crack. This was one of the first classic eps I watched, because I couldn't resist the temptation of multiple Doctors. My head spun. :-) Granted, it's more like, "The Four Doctors With a Cameo By a Fifth", but still.

No, you may need to do PHOTOSHOPPED screen caps of it.

Ooooooooh!! It's been a while since I've done captioned pics. A LONG while.

OT: In Doctor Who Magazine, David Tennant won their poll as best Doctor and Rose won as best companion. Tom Baker was second after years of being in first place and Chris E came in third. Yay to DT, BP and CE.

Is that the one where they had a different actor for the first Doctor? or am I thinking of something completely different?

Nah, you've got it correct. *g*

[livejournal.com profile] lyssie beat me. :D

But I think William Hartnell passed away not too long after he stopped being the Doctor. Or maybe that's why they had to "regenerate" the Doctor? I'm kinda fuzzy on that.

That's what I was thinking - that he couldn't be in it because he had the small problem of being a little bit dead.

That's the reason. He was around long enough to do "The Three Doctors," but was already having serious health issues. One of [livejournal.com profile] brainiacfive's books has some very in-depth behind-the-scenes stuff about how the producers called him and had a perfectly normal conversation about his doing it, then found out later from his wife that they had happened to catch him on a "good day." He died several years before Alzheimer's was well known, but the anecdotal evidence points that way or something like it.

Apparently he held it together for everything on-camera, but was otherwise very fuzzy on life in general most of the time. Everyone seems to chalk it up to his being the consummate professional, so well-trained that he could deliver his lines and hit his marks even when the rest of his mind was swiss-cheesed. Impressive and heartbreaking all at the same time.

Clarification: All of the above referring to production on "The Three Doctors." He had some health issues during his own run, but the dementia wasn't until later.
