Seriously. Why do people in the office never get the fact that I am not interested in hearing about their diet and/or exercise program? I never bore them with details about me like that. Why must they stand there and talk to me for five minutes about their butt?

At least at work you can say you have to get back to it and shut them up. I hate when relatives go on a diet and consider catching up to be diet update. Lord save me from my mom's current love of Weight Watchers.

UGH. One of my mom's *friends* went on Weight Watchers and still I heard about it.

Dieting takes over your brain. Until all you can think about is how many calories you had in the morning, what you're going to eat at night, how many hours you spent on the treadmill, how that new belly dancing class is going, whether or not black coffee really speeds up your metabolism...and on and on. It is physically impossible to talk about something else when you are on a diet. It's a scientifically proven fact. And by science, I mean as observed by myself, my friends, and of course, my co-workers. *nods*

Ugh. There really needs to be some sort of diet muzzle that's fascist-ly attached the second someone starts discussing this with anyone other that their diet counselor.

Really, they should be talking to you about my butt, but let me tell you, after the last year working out, it looks great...

*snickers*

I've banished people off my flist for going on and on about their diets.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Well, people on my flist are at least nice enough to put it behind cuts.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
And I am glad. I generally keep my personal stuff to a minimum. I like to be entertained by people abd generally try to do the same.

And cuts are great so one doesn't have to scroll and scroll and scroll to get past items that aren't of interest.

because you work in an office. its a horrible horrible cycle.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
And especially since my office is all women. It can get weird at times. And is a sharp contrast as the last job I was at, I was the only woman with all men.

[identity profile] samkicksass.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
I've never had a good experience working in an office with all women. I don't do the female small talk thing all that well. I mean I can do it quite well but I just can't sustain it more than a few days.

[identity profile] spacefiend.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. Actually working with other women?? I'm an engineer, so in my coop terms I can count the number of women I've worked with regularly on the fingers of one hand. Fine by me - I prefer sports talk to diet talk any day.

Because they are boring and have no life, alas.

Maybe I could get them interested in talking about something else...
