DW: The Edge of Destruction (One, Susan, Ian, Barbara)
HEY!
Okay, I get that *lots* of stuff doesn't match up over the years within Doctor Who. But in The Runaway Bride, the Doctor said something like "we're going further back than I've ever been before" when they went to the point of the creation of the solar system.
Wrong.
Wrong wrong wrong.
The Edge of Destruction had the TARDIS in the middle of the creation of Earth's solar system. You'd *think* the Doctor would have remembered that since the heart of the TARDIS was nearly sucked out and they almost all died.
pthththththt!
(Well, I think that line was supposed to echo his line in Rose in "New Earth" of "we're going further than we've ever gone before" - an episode that got a bit of play in TRB. Side note - poor Doctor. He was probably expecting a Rose-type bounce from Donna on seeing the creation of Earth.)
Think I've mentioned this before, but they clearly didn't have the character of the Doctor fleshed-out in these earliest episodes. In this episode, all the deductive reasoning comes mainly from Barbara and to a lesser extent Ian and Susan. The Doctor is just in "cranky old man" mode by jumping to wild, irrational conclusions and having a very narrow outlook on things.
But anyway, best thing about this episode was the ending where the Doctor finally starts to really like Barbara and Ian and seems happy to have them around. Gives Barbara his arm as they're headed out to see a new planet and so on. Awwwww!
Also, these episodes remain SLOW. Oh my God. zzzzzzzzzz.
ETA: Unrelated - I dreamt I went around collecting cats outside, and they all had ice on their whiskers. :( They were all orange cats - not sure if that means anything. (Apparently I'm quite impressionable, even from myself.)

Your dream sounds interesting! Did you take them inside and get them all warm and happy with some food and drink? I have yet never been owned by any sort of orange cat. The ones that like me are gray tabbies or black or black & white in patches.

The cats actually kept running out of the box I was putting them in, poor things. And it's funny because I've never even owned a cat before. Maybe my mind is telling me to get a cat.

Considering there's a complete episode guide on the Beeb website??? Um, yeah. %-} It's not like major plot points like that are tucked away in some obscure fannish hidey-hole...
(Or maybe the other TARDIS showed up 30 seconds after he and Donna left... Heh.)
And this is the real reason they don't bother. They know we'll do the rationalizing for them. *sigh*

That's *SO* true. Bah.
