Random Doctor Who
Random thought of the day - if Jack Harkness had met Jackie Tyler in S1, they would undoubtedly have shagged five minutes later. Much to the horror of Rose. The Doctor probably would have just rolled his eyes.
And have started in on a Classic Who reconstruction. How is it that audio has survived, but the video hasn't? Wiki said it was recorded "off air." Does that mean someone happened to be holding up a tape recorder to a TV or something? It's a fairly good quality recording.
Still can't believe someone(s) went out and trashed all this.
ETA: Oh, Gateworld forums. You and Outpost Gallifrey forums should get together and make neurotic babies.

"Jack...and my mum. My mum...and Jack." *rocks*
"You're surprised? Quite frankly, didn't think they'd have waited five minutes."
"Oh. My. God."
"Look on the bright side, Rose! You may get a new dad!"
"OH. MY. GOD."

The BBC trashed its film archives, but not the audio? Eh. Who knows.
And Jackie would SO have been all over him. And Jack would have been just fine with that.

Bah. It really is sadness. But I am quite impressed with the reconstruction. They did a good job with still pictures.

Uh huh!

Before VCRs, people used to make audio tapes of TV shows all the time. It was the only way to have a show, so to speak.
As far as the BBC trashing all the old B&W shows, once colour came in, in 1970, TPTB didn't think that anyone would want to watch any of the B&W stuff anymore. Alas, in many cases they are right. I know people who won't watch old TV shows or movies in B&W. They have no good explanation for it; they just won't. I think they are weird. B&W photo and film stock has a crispness about it that even high-def colour will never be able to match.

It's *so* within the realm of possibility. :D

Ah. Okay, never thought about that! It probably was pretty common, eh?

Aw, man.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Some of those old black and white movies were *gorgeous* with their use of shaddows and light. And nothing irks me more than when someone colorizes it. Thankfully Turner stopped doing that.

Yes, yes, and yes.
Had it been season 2, OTOH, the Doctor would have cackled like a loon.

HA! True!! There would have been a repeat of the Rose-the-dog scene in RotC. "BWAHAHAHAHAHA! *ahem* Sorry. Not laughing. *slaps hand over mouth*"

Some idiot was on a cleaning/organizing kick and didn't think. It's horrible.

Oh, they *so* would have had sex! And Jack would have given the Doctor and Rose a 20 to go see a movie or something while they had some alone time...

Doctor: YAY! Muppets Take Manhattan! Muppets Take Manhattan!
Rose: *cries*
