Post of Pointlessness

I'm feeling the need for a new default pic, but I'm not sure what. And thinking maybe I should start organizing the approximately 450 Doctor Who pictures in my gallery. (OMG.) Hmm. If you put a picture into a folder in your gallery, that won't change the file location, right? I use the pics for spamming posts and wouldn't want to have to modify 2,541 posts...

ETA: I feel like I'm forgetting something.

If you're talking about Photobucket, yeah, it unfortunately changes the location. It gives a "Warning: Moving an image will break your direct link* message.

I was reading some LJ insider on where the LJ photo gallery came from, and it's mostly LJ founder [livejournal.com profile] brad wanting someplace to slap his photos. And ever since he slapped that up in a rather haphazard fashion, they've been trying to make it work. This would explain the distinct lack of user-friendliness. Why are there tags? Who knows! Maybe Brad thought it'd be nifty-keen and then couldn't get it to work right.

Heh yeah I've read that too... I dont really care about the tags... I'm quite happy with having somewhere to shove my photos. It's not hugely userfriendly but better than other sites I've used!

That's probably it. I mean, if you could view by tags it'd be one thing, but you can't.

In between printing giant reports (yeah, work *is* actually involved today), I've been futzing with the gallery. Right now I'm trying to figure out why the subgalleries are oddly formatted. Only 2 in one row, etc. Suspect problem with the layout, but 1) don't have the know how to change it and 2) not sure that I care all that much. (Only 250 more pics to recategorize! Woo!)

*tilts head* That's ... really weird. It doesn't make sense that it wouldn't fill up all the rows properly. I think that probably one of the problems they've yet to sort is that you *can't* change the layout.
