Well, I *will* be watching this...

Am squeeing a bit over some DW S3 pics - taken during shooting apparently.

http://manticoran.livejournal.com/652476.html

Yay Jack! Am especially amused at the picture of what looks like John B. cracking up at David T. with their big old coats on. I love seeing actors having fun on the set. Hope this will translate into good Jack and Ten chemistry - sometimes I'm so "the Doctor is the Doctor is the Doctor," that I forget that JB and DT were never together before.

(See? I was good! I didn't once mention Rose! Except for now. Sorry.)

ETA: Why can't Jack stay? Why? I mean, I know there's S2 of Torchwood, so obviously he doesn't stay. *stomps* You know, I think I'm in the mood to take my "but companions leave!" wrath out on the Time Lords as they're assholes anyway, and so I think I need to get my hands on the episode where they erase Jamie and Zoe's memories. Bastards!

ETA2: sekrit message to [livejournal.com profile] icepixie: 1st DVD of Slings and Arrows has arrived. (Which is *not* some Robin Hood-related show. Just so everyone knows.)

That's cool! :D

Isn't it? Hee!

Isn't it great? I couldn't get more than a quick glimpse of it - 'cause, you know, at work - but it looks like they're having a grand old time.

I hope so too. I think it will, because they're both nuts in general and about Doctor Who.

Why can't Jack stay?

*pouts* I don't knoooooow. *stamps foot* I wanna keep Jack!

*snickers* They're such "superior" jerks. You need War Games, which I don't think is available on Netflix. This is good, but long, and the Time Lords aren't until the end.

Yup! Love that!

I hope so too. I think it will, because they're both nuts in general and about Doctor Who.

And both seem quite flamboyant, which could be fun. Although I do admit to loving Nine and Jack, just because they offset each other quite well. Loved it when the Doctor would roll his eyes at Jack's flirting with things like "there's a time and a place..." - that whole rolling up the newspaper and swatting Jack on the nose vibe. :D

I would gladly give up S2 of Torchwood for Jack staying. ;)

Netflix *really* needs to up their DW inventory. Right now I've got every single one they have either in my queue or I've already gotten from them. And I don't think it's even half. But anyway, am really in the mood to bitch at the Time Lords. Jerks.

You know, if it wasn't for the whole "last of his kind" thing, oh and thousands (millions?) dying, I'd say the Doctor was far better off without them. Don't fuck with the Companions!

I have to wonder if there might not be a bit of a reversal of this with Ten & Jack. Ten's so very hyper, I wonder if Jack wouldn't try to slow him down.

I have to admit that I don't know sometimes whether I'd watch Torchwood for its own sake, if Jack wasn't in it. I mean, I enjoyed it well enough, but Jack really put it over the top for me, you know? I definitely wouldn't be as nuts over it as I am now. ;-)

Netflix *really* needs to up their DW inventory.

I did notice that they seem to have added "The Beginning" - the very first episodes - back to their inventory. But I'm not honestly sure how many DW DVDs are even available in the US. There seems to be some lag with getting them from Britain.

*snerk* Ironically, if I'm remembering correctly what the Doctor had to say about crossing between universes (which I may not be, since I haven't seen "Doomsday" since it aired), they could help him get to Rose. I doubt they would help him, though, if they were around.

Who knows! Things kinda have been shaken up as far as personalities go for both of them. Although I still have the feeling we might see a bit more serious Ten in S3. The loss of Rose, yes, but also so often they fed off each other in their pursuit of fun in the universe. And that playmate who helped work him into that manic state is no longer there.

*sighs* It's a bit frustrating.

Yeah, I kinda doubt they'd help him either. They'd probably be offended at, well, everything about her. A common human absorbing the time vortex? And the Doctor Lord President of Gallifrey seeming to fall in love said lower-species human? They'd probably mumble something about it all being not entirely proper and instead try and get him to attend a council meeting.

sometimes I'm so "the Doctor is the Doctor is the Doctor," that I forget that JB and DT were never together before.

You know, that didn't occur to me until you said it. My head is all on the characters.

Gah, I wish Jack could stay, too. *glares at the obnoxiousness that was 75% of S1 Torchwood*

Yeah, I hardly ever focus on the actors themselves either.

They could have Jack and keep Martha and get Rose from the other universe... One big happy family!

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
They look hot but surprisingly it doesn't even tempt me a little to watch. But it should be awesome to see the coats flying helter skelter.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Not even a little? :) But I demand a shot of the Doctor and Jack walking where both their coats are doing some sort of cool flapping behind them. Sadly, Martha does not seem to have a long coat, otherwise it could be three coats flapping...

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Heeh I will just look at the pretty pictures. Cause the eye candy is yummy.

Hee! The giggling-in-Michelin-Man-coats shot is indeed delightful.

Sharing your hopes re: the chemistry. Especially since not only has the Doctor become a jackrabbit on crack, Jack has shifted from charmingly cynical to full-on bitter and vicious. I'm expecting the vicious to get downplayed somewhat in the context of the family-hour show (and should even be able to buy that based on the sheer delight evident in his reaction to the arrival of the TARDIS in "End of Days"), but it'll still be a factor.

Certainly he's still got his Mr. Billowy-Coat-King-of-Pain attitude going on in the in-character pics...

You just want to squish them! :D

Right right. I'd imagine that Jack won't be a complete ball of bitter because of what you said - family hour + his reaction in End of Days. (Before End of Days, I fully expected Jack to be completely pissed off at the Doctor, but I guess that's not happening.) But it should be interesting - it definitely will be different from the dynamic at the end of S1.

Certainly he's still got his Mr. Billowy-Coat-King-of-Pain attitude going on in the in-character pics...

They're all looking Very Serious in those pics, aren't they? But who knows what the context is - maybe the Daleks for the 23rd time?

Oh, I'm sure it's something potentially Devastating to Life As We Know It. But it's that granite-jaw thing he's been doing in TW that jumps out at me.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah - that hard edge to him now instead of carefree, playboy conman.

[identity profile] debs7.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I've heard rumours that Jack in DW is a lot more lighter then he is in TW which makes sense to me - TW = adult so more darker, DW = kiddies so light, happy Jack for all.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I could see that. Plus you do have this whole audience that hasn't watched Torchwood, and so to have a drastically altered Jack from what they remembered probably wouldn't work too well. Then you'd have the kiddies *wanting* to watch Torchwood to find out what happened to Jack and why he's so angry.

I know it wasn't a sekrit message to me, but how is Slings and Arrows? I see the ads for it all the time on Showcase, but I've never actually caught an ep. And I probably should just for Paul Gross alone.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
According to [livejournal.com profile] icepixie, it's very faboo, which made me interested enough to Netflix it. And anything that supposedly takes place behind the scenes of a theater already interests me. I'm sure I'll post about it once I've had a look. :)

Heh. S&A is Teh Squee. It's set backstage at (and in the financial offices of) a Shakespeare festival, and it has a ghost, and Paul Gross playing a former crazy man, and oh, it is fantastic. If you like PG already, you definitely must see it.

[identity profile] stephdub.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh! Yes, I'll have to look for the dvds.

Shakespear festival huh? Must be based around the Stratford Festival. I saw PG play Hamlet there, waaaay back in... 2000? He was very good. And cute. Thanks for the info!

[personal profile] icepixie 2007-02-21 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
The creators did mention at one point that it's something of a satire of the Stratford festival, yes. :D

OMG, you saw PG as Hemlet? Aie, I'm jealous. That would be awesome. He plays Hamlet at one point during S&A (it's involved in the whole backstory where he goes crazy for a while).

[identity profile] stephdub.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't be too jealous... I was only 20, and therefore poor. A friend and I went and bought last minute tickets, and they were literally the worst seats in the house. The audience sits in a horseshoe around the stage and we were in the very last row, against the far left wall. Oh well...

*squees* You are gonna have so much fun.

(Which is *not* some Robin Hood-related show. Just so everyone knows.)

Even though there is dueling. No arrows, though.

I know what I'm doing tonight!

[identity profile] debs7.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Squee.

I'm in love with the coats. I think they should run off and shag each other (the coats not the people in them although wouldn't say no to that).

The best thing - The Doctor's suit = brown. I'm guessing the Blue one will be a special suit worn only once :)

Hopefully. Maybe Martha knocks some sense into him - "sorry, that looks like utter shit." I mean, after all, what are Companions for? :D
