Someone finally showed up to install my sink. No idea if the dishwasher's going in today as well. I'd kinda doubt it since there's no hole for the hose yet. But I'm getting a whole new sink, which is nice. I think. The guy kinda disappeared...

Why'd I click a link to T&C? Why? I only ever get cranky. (It really is D/R's version of The List^TM.) Found out a few of the concepts I had in my DW fic are "OMGIHATESIT" things. Apparently the only "good" post-Doomsday fics cannot have AU!Nine, reference Bad Wolf or have Rose leave her family to rejoin the Doctor. Had no idea there were certain formulas to goodness. Of course, I'm speaking in blanketed generalities since they started it by speaking blanketed generalities, but...why'd I go there again? Why? I think I may need to do another picspam since I don't know which kills my inner-shipper quicker: anti-shippers or T&C. (Well, you *can* find them both in the same place... HA! I crack myself up.)

ETA: Apparently the dude had to take care of something else. But supposedly everything will be finished tomorrow. Yay!
ETA2: Too late for a nap now. Wish I had some Classic Who eps to watch, but sadly I'm completely Netflixless at the moment.

Ha, the thing about that pet peeve thing is that a lot of what people listed sounded like a good story to me. I think it's overuse and then how well people execute the idea. I know there are a lot of fandom concepts that tons of people use, but only a handful of authors make them new and interesting.

Yeah, I'm of the opinion that pretty much anything can be done well. Anything. Just as anything can be done badly.

Anyway, I think your Doomsday fix-it is a good example of how making Rose into a Time Lord can work, whereas I've seen stories where it absolutely did not work and made me twitch.

Well, thanks. :) Have to admit seeing people saying that fics that do that are lame was...well, I took it a bit personally. Rawr! :D

You know, I do sympathize a bit with some of the hating going on. There is Doctor/Rose stuff that is SO bad that it makes me do the full body cringe of denial. But...that's bad writing, not necessarily bad ideas. I don't buy the received wisdom that there are plot elements that doom a story, either.

I love AltNine fic because I MISS NINE(don't worry, Ten, I love you all the same). I like Bad Wolf stories, because it only makes sense, considering that Torchwood thing, you know? And why would it be evil for Rose to leave the family? I mean, seriously, didn't Jackie chuck it all and go to Pete's World?

See, I get to claim ignorance since I read very little fic anymore. I think I've maybe read 5 or 6 D/R fics, and those were rec'd to me first. But I used to read tons years back in the SG-1 fandom, and oh yeah. There was much badness. :D

Right right right. That's my mindset as well. Even the most cliched idea can become a good fic. Or a brilliant idea can dissolve if done badly.

*nods* Even if nothing comes of it in canon, it *is* logical to have Bad Wolf pop up again. Not a requirement obviously, but still logical.

I have no idea why it'd be bad for Rose to jump back onto the TARDIS, even if she had set up a good life in the AU. Nothing, and I mean *nothing* would compare to TARDIS travel. Plus that whole in love thing.

It's that same old saying - one man's trash is another man's treasure.

I know I have some fandom cliches I hate - most namely the use of Theta as the Doctors name (I hate it enough to immediately stop reading a fic no matter how good it is).

but as people pointed out in the fic - what one person hates, another person adores and you can't please everybody.

and yeah it is defintely in the delivery. Some people can make the use a cliche brilliant whereas someone else makes you read it and gag :)

Also I adore Alt!Nine fics, Bad Wolf fic and reunion fics :D

Yeah, I know it's all about personal taste, and I shouldn't have let it get to me. I really know better. I'm gonna blame the stuffed-up head and not being able to think straight. :D
