- For the most part I liked this episode. But I've always been fascinated by the Adama-Lee-Kara relationship, and so I really liked the scene between Adama and Lee where they were arguing about whose grief was greater. Honestly, I'm not sure who would win.

- See, I *think* I'm starting to like Cally again, and then she goes and contradicts herself. She's talking about how they shouldn't turn on each other, and then she goes and turns on Athena. Cally may be moving to my permanent annoyance camp.
- Anyone notice if the survivor count in the opening credits dropped this week? Does it ever drop?
- I still have issues with this whole Lee legal thing. Seems really apparent that they wanted more main characters involved in the trial, but Lee IS A PILOT. Gah. The sudden lawyer grandfather they introduced last week (or the week before) is WEAK.
- Okay, I got distracted a couple of times and so I missed a couple of minutes here and there. There were a few things I was confused about:
- Did Baltar's lawyer say something like they had to do something "before they find out Baltar is pregnant."??? I mean, yes. He used the word pregnant - I had the CC on (always do for BSG since I find some of their dialog hard to understand sometimes.) He was using 'pregnant' as a term for something else, right?? *wags finger at mpreg*
- First the lawyer doesn't want Baltar to have his pen because it would gain sympathy, and then at the end he gives it back? Huh?
- Was the kleptomania supposed to have any deeper significance other than the lawyer was a squirrel? And, dude. You're inside. Lose the shades. Not sure what decade it was on Caprica, but the 80s died long ago 'round here.
- Why did the lawyer send Baltar that letter about the son coming out from behind the father's shadow? Did I miss something where Baltar talked about his father? Or was the lawyer just being a squirrel again?

Actually, his grandfather's been known as a lawyer since sometime back in Season 1, I think. And it's clear to me that Lee needs something else to do that gets him out from under his father's shadow.

Probably not, but I think it'll be good for him to make an effort. Also, good for him to do something that has absolutely nothing to do with Kara. I suspect being CAG has way too many memories for him right now.

Remember in the infirmary when he was talking about the stuff he'd stolen from various people? And he put the pen back in the envelope for Lee to give back Baltar.
Lee got so played. I have a good feeling that Romo wasn't talking about Baltar coming out from behind his father's shadow.

Pretty sure he was talking about getting Lee on their side.
I think the "pregnant" thing was supposed to be snark, but I'm not sure. The writing for this one really wasn't the best. The shades and all the things that he stole -- I think they were supposed to be symbolic, writing-wise, but it fell flat.
Re: Lee is a pilot, not a lawyer -- true, and I miss him flying. On the other hand, he's shown an interest in democracy and the rule of law through the whole series, so I think it works for him to be pushing to be a part of the trial. Just look back at Bastille Day in season 1, when he gave Zarek some freedom and pushed for elections. Or when he threw in his lot with Roslin, not because he believed in the religious stuff, but because he believed in the presidency and democracy. If there's anyone who truly wants Baltar to get a fair trial, it's him, so it makes sense to me that he'd want to be a part of it.

He's always been the one to be all with the 'do the right thing even if it goes against the military'. So if anyone would actually make sure Baltar's trial was actually fair? It would be Lee.

Exactly. He's always been a firm believer in the principles of justice. So even though I'm sure he finds Baltar as abhorrent as his father and Laura and a whole bunch of other people do, he believes that it should be done right.

Lee's the son Lampkin was referring to. I'm pretty sure he meant, "I've talked circles around him and engendered anger at his father, and now you've got a really good lawyer on your side [magically, since Lee's, y'know, a pilot] and will totally go free." Possibly that's just my projection.

Hrm. Well, just as long as he wasn't actually pregnant. Heh. And I'd agree with you on the writing - it confused me many times, and I wasn't sure if it was just me and the paint fumes or something else.

I almost feel like I can't disagree since in the end, I don't feel *that* strongly about it. But getting Lee involved in the trial seems a bit contrived to me, even after all those things you mentioned.

The number has always changed every week. I remember it most clearly after 33 (the first episode after the mini, when Lee and Kara destroyed the Olympic Carrier) because it was a huge loss all at once.
I am seven weeks behind on BSG now. Eight? Maybe eight. Obviously not worrying about spoilers though ...
