Spiderman 3
Overall it was all right. Some fun action scenes. If you weren't already planning on going, I wouldn't be trying to tell you to run out and see it though.
Emo!Peter. OMG. He had the hair over his face, the black eyeliner (okay, they tried to make it look like it wasn't actually eyeliner, but it was totally there) - I laughed. That whole Peter going darkside - eh. Didn't we see this in the first movie? Or was it the second? Where he had this thing with revenge? And he gives up being Spiderman for a while? This was pretty much the same. Even had the pulling out of the red suit again, which was such a "moment." Peter needed to stop having a moment and get his ass in gear since MJ was, you know, going to die.
MJ really couldn't stop being whiny or getting that frowny look on her face for more than five minutes in a row. Of course, you couldn't really blame her for part of it since Peter was busy being a hot dog. And this was even before the Black Alien Goo of Badness.
Okay, is it ever possible to have redemption that's NOT quickly followed by death? Well, there *was* some pseudo-redemption with the Sandman, but he was regretting his actions even before he went all HULK SMASH. So he got to live.
But the fact that Harry died SUCKED. I mean, if I had to pick one thing I liked the best in this movie, it was when Peter and Harry were fighting on the same side. I was thinking, you know, I could watch a 4th movie if it had lots of this - buddy superheros!! And then they killed him! BAH!
Really - have redemption and die? Really? I suppose it makes things tidy. Think of if Darth Vader had lived. It'd have been a bit awkward with the kids, having tried to kill them a couple of times, and just think of all the "sorry I blew up that planet you liked" cards he'd have to send. But this way he has redemption, dies, and can then kick back with Yoda while morphing into Hayden Christensen. It's pretty sweet.

Luke was already on his way or was already at the point of forgiving him. But Leia? Ooooh, boy. She'd have been angry at him, and probably angry at Luke for forgiving him so easily.
I've been trying to figure out if I want to see Spiderman tomorrow, but I think I can wait a few weeks until the theaters aren't packed, at least. It doesn't sound like The Best Thing EVAR. And the movie that did come out this week that I do want to see (The Waitress, with Nathan Fillion [see icon]), is apparently one of those only NYC & LA things. Meh.

No way. Or...yes. I agree with you! :D

I liked the first two better. But it was enjoyable. I wasn't sitting there ready to leave or anything, so it held my interest. And didn't seem like it was a 2 hour 20 minute movie. The theater was full but not sold out - went to a noon show. And practically no kids because they're all in school. WOO!

Hate when that happens.

This would be another reason why NOT to go tomorrow - fifty bazillion noisy children, kicking the backs of people's seats. :-)
I'm definitely going to see it, though. Just a matter of when. And I'd much rather be able to enjoy it more without a huge crowd.

Oh! Jack's in tonight's SG-1! I just realized. Jack is even sort of his old self, with Daniel. And since you're 3 hours behind, you still have a chance to see it. :-) If you want to.
