Family of Blood Preview

Haven't gotten to see Human Nature yet, but have seen the Family of Blood preview.

Point of the first, AWW! You know how nice it is to see the Doctor happy and content again? (Okay, John Smith. Whatever.)

Point of the second, I'm told that this might not actually be reality. Apparently there's a kid that has visions, so this could be related to a vision. It would kind of tie to the rest of the promo where they were talking about "he's ancient and forever." So perhaps the Doctor gets to see this life through some sort of a vision of the kid, but has to make a choice - this happy human life, or being the Doctor. Ouch. Fucking angst. *mutters*

Point of the third, if this *isn't* a vision but reality, I will be demanding the following: 1) John Smith/the Doctor finds a way to bring Martha home so she will not spend her entire life in this place, and 2) that never at any time does the Doctor/John Smith ditch the kiddies to become a Time Lord again or what have you. They get him in their lives, otherwise it will be SO NOT COOL. I don't care if he was a different person when it all went down. NOT COOL.

Wow. Yeah on Points the Third.

Back when I heard about this plotline, I was already grousing about the thought of the Doctor leaving behind a woman that fell in love with his human self. But in seeing that there are kids involved, it's elevated to an "Oh, HELL no" when it comes to leaving people behind.

I've been calling dream ever since we saw the clip in the first long trailer. I'm still saying that. They wouldn't do that. It would have to be explained to the kiddies at home and someone has to think of the children. Yes, it's nice to see him happy but...I think that 1). He'll make the choice and 2) Joan will willingly let him go, even though it will break their hearts (but he won't feel the same when he's the Doctor again).

Dream (or vision) never really even crossed my mind since in the book it was based on, it *was* reality. Well, there weren't kids involved in the book.

Thing is, we *know* Joan and kiddies don't pack up for TARDIS travel *and* we've seen Martha in future eps, not having aged. So either the Doctor took Martha back home, lived this life with Joan, and then came back for Martha later; or it's a vision.

I suppose they could go the former route, but sweet mother of mercy, after all the angst they've given us this series, I damn well want to *see* the healing process, instead of the Doctor showing up in the next episode with Martha, having lived this happy human life offscreen and so now is "fixed." ffffft! I'd be calling "cheat" so fast.

Remember, he's fully human, he'd age too and hasn't. It'll be angsty, but I say no happy human life. And in the book, they were only engaged. Well see, but I'm keeping my thoughts in a happy place for now.

Oh, good point. He's the same as well. (Well...they could possible handwave something about the Doctor reverting to his state once he became a Time Lord again. I wouldn't put that kind of bullshit past them. :D)

But yeah, it's completely obvious that the Doctor will still be the Doctor by the end of all this. So I'm thinking the odds are *very* good that none of this happens. It'll probably be about the choice. And it's potentially nice to see that the Doctor will choose to be the Doctor, in spite of his destructive state recently. I guess it depends on the circumstances. Might be that he really won't have a choice - he becomes the Doctor again or everyone dies or something.

I have a feeling this will be a dream-like thing.

In other news....DT holding a wittle BABY!! Gah. That's as bad as the kittens.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-05-26 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
And the baby did not make me want to curl into a ball at the thought of giving birth to it! BONUS! ;)

Ha! Well, having gone both ways (c-section & natural w/ no drugs. no that was not intentional. o.0) I can say that I am thoroughly done with having kids. But I still love babies. As long as I can hand them back when it's time to change the nappy.

I was talking about it with my Mum afterwards, and then we decided the only thing that could happen to make him leave them if they're not real is... kill them all.

Which is... actually almost impossible to comprehend happening.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!

Okay, I know Who's gone darkside this series, but I hope not THAT darkside!

[identity profile] makesometime.livejournal.com 2007-05-26 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I knooooooow. I hope that it's just my flu infection thing making me think bad things :S

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-05-26 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
The more I think about this, the more I'm thinking it's *GOT* to be a vision. If it had just been a baby shot, I could have been thinking reality. But the older kids... It doesn't really work.

[identity profile] fiona-conn.livejournal.com 2007-05-26 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Aye, I think it's got to be a vision of the future as it COULD be. Remember that old line about seeing everything that was, is and ever could be? Remember in PoTW, the Doctor says that's what he sees -- all the time. So, this is probably a vision of the future as it could be if he stays in England in 1913. Remember also that the future is NOT set in stone -- we, and the Doctor, make our future with our own two hands...

*Babbles*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-05-26 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. Exactly. Wasn't there some line of "your cozy little world could be rewritten like that" somewhere? But yeah, it's seeming like "possible future" rather than reality. And the hits just keep on coming for the Doctor.

DT! Baby! DT! Baby! *melts*

It *is* like the kitten thing, isn't it? :D

Yep! :D
