Don't blink.

  • Oooh. Sally is extremely cool. Great guest character! Like her much better than Elton.

  • "I've learned to stay away from hens. It's not pretty when they blow." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  • Oh, Sally's a bit like the Doctor, isn't she? Yet another person that gets the comparison this series. She keeps getting left by people who live their own lives elsewhere.

  • BWAH!!! I screamed. :D

  • ETA: Okay, why can't THIS be the Martha of S3? SERIOUSLY. Being pissed off about getting stuck with the Doctor instead of mooning over him with that one (and only) sad!Martha expression? I WANT MORE OF THIS, PLEASE.

Okay, sorry. Not a lot of in-depth commentary on this one, but I'm glad I didn't spoil myself for this. It was just FUN. Trippy time travel stuff, very creepy moments, and way, WAY better than Love & Monsters. Actual plot with no tacked-on "oh, you met the Doctor when you were a kid..." thing either. Actually, I think I could even put this episode at the top of S3. Seriously. I'm probably gonna watch this one again.

Sam here, it was just classic Doctor WHo.

It really had everything. And not a trace of angst. I'm a happy DW fan right now.

(And I still might be cracking up at the Doctor's exploding chickens line.)

[identity profile] syokhan.livejournal.com 2007-06-10 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yup, my thoughts exactly. Very entertaining, creepy, fun, and will be watched again later :) for the cool way in which the plot was done and also because I can't understand a word Tennant says when he's babbling at supersonic speed (and thus missed the exploding hens line...)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-06-10 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
He does talk at lightning speed, doesn't he? :D

But yeah. I'm thinking of giving it the Best S3 Episode Award. Well, maybe I should wait until the end.

Yes, a real nightmare for non-native speakers, I tell you :)

Captain Jack next week! And who knows, maybe the Saxon storyline will turn out to be something interesting? ^^

I bet! And even for people with different accents at times.

Hopefully!

It was fun, and it was terrifying. It's all I've seen of s3 so far, but...I like it. And I like Martha, a lot, based on her three lines in this episode. :)

And, yes, ohhh, yes, I loved Sally. A lot. And somebody needs to write Sally/Kathy girlslash, because...yeah.

I'm so glad I watched even though I will never sleep again. Yay! *tracks down the rest of s3, now*

Mwah! Good luck!

I have never seen any Martha before, so...yeah. Based on this episode, I like her. We shall see if that changes as I catch up on the other episodes. :)

And, oh, Sally and Kathy were SO GAY TOGETHER. It is a glorious, glorious thing, oh yes. *is, in no way, plotting Sally/Kathy fic in head, no*

This episode is sparking a Martha post. *types*

MWAH! Sally had chemistry with *everyone*. She was quite fab.

This episode was awesomesauce.

And I just said "awesomesauce."

Which I think really sums up my fannish love.

(AHAHAHA. TEN MADE SURE TO PUT ON HIS GLASSES BEFORE DOING THE WHOLE DVD EASTER EGG THING. AHHHHH. *is made of glee*)

Except Martha really irritated me this episode. I think it's because I marathoned S1 today and just generally blame her for not being Rose. It's unfair of me, but I can't help it!

This was a great ep! Really, really great. :D (Oy. Best episode of the series and it's Doctor-lite.)

Whoops! Actually, I liked Martha in this episode more than just about any other episode.

I can't stop giggling! There was no emo! THERE WAS NO EMO AT ALL. It might take me a while to fully grasp this concept. :D

Whoops! Actually, I liked Martha in this episode more than just about any other episode.

Maybe it helped that she only had three lines?

I thought her hair was pretty. *is generous*

I KNOW! *FLAILS* IT WAS AWESOME!

What helped was the fact that she wasn't mooning over the Doctor. Yup. And the hair.

Well, I'm way too obsessed with time loops and causality to have had a *best episode ever* reaction on first viewing, but even that kind of worked, because we were seeing it from Sally's linear perspective of time as opposed to the Doctor's twisty turny one where you plan out the effect before the cause. I was however quite jumpy and blinked an awful lot so it defiantly got into my head.

Oh and I adore Sally, she'd make an awesome companion, or we could just watch her non-emo adventures on the slow path.

I loved the fact that it messed with your head a bit. And seeing it from Sally's POV was COOL because you were WTF-ing a bit with her.

LOL

She was great! I think my favorite guest character by far this series. Actually, she'd be right up there with Nancy for me from S1. Oh! Moffat wrote that one as well. He does GREAT guest characters. He did Reinette too, yeah? They're so layered!

[identity profile] pixiesio.livejournal.com 2007-06-10 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! Yeah, t'was definitely an excellent ep, and I was watching it in the dark. Bad me! ;) Martha definitely was better, 'timey whimey', 'exploding chickens' and 'four things and a lizard' cracked me up big time. *pats fav supersonic babbler*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-06-10 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm glad I didn't watch this in the dark. At the beginning it was like, "Oh this is mildly scary. Bless." And then when they were in the house watching the video of the Doctor, there was actual screaming. :D

And I laughed out loud more than a few times. *LOVES*

[identity profile] solielle.livejournal.com 2007-06-10 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
It was good! It was creepy! And funny! And not as derivative of one of Moffat's earlier works as I'd feared*! And I'm totally a sucker for anything spooky, and anything that messes with linear time. Really awesome.

I don't believe that Kathy's brother could have gone without blinking that long, though. Not without physically holding his eyes open.

*= I was totally worried he was going to crib from his '07 Doctor Who Annual story. Good news, he didn't. Bad news, he cribbed from his '06 story. Good news, he made it 500 times more awesome. So I'm okay with all that.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-06-10 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)

HA!!!! You know, I think I'm partly amused that they've been cannibalizing stuff from prior works this series.

Ooooh, he should have held his eyes open! That's a good idea.

Oh, I liked Elton :( And Love and Monsters too, I feel so alone out here seeing everyone say 'Thank God it wasn't like Love and Monsters' and wanted to jump in with a small and feeble 'But I liked it...'

I think I may actually download this one, I could quite happily watch it again, despite that fact that even now - in the light - I'm looking around for statues every now and again.

And Martha's hair was pretty. Yay non-pineapple head!

I also liked Love and Monsters. And I didn't like The Satan Pit/Impossible Planet. Which puts me at odds with...almost everyone. :)

I totally spent a lot of this episode with my finger hovering over the pause button (my usual avoidance tactics of closing my eyes or looking away obviously out of the question). It rocked a lot, and you are right about it being the best of the season.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-06-10 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! I did the finger over the pause button a couple of times myself. :D
