More Drums talk.

I'm still not really here. Won't be for several hours yet so haven't responded to all comments or read really anyone else's thoughts yet. But had a couple of additional thoughts:

I am really obsessed with the Master and Lucy at the moment. The Master *still* could have done his freaky hypnosis thing he does so well on Lucy. So it's possible she could be this psychotic groupie wife because of something he did to her. But on the other hand, he could have actually found this soul-mate, so to speak. I'm *really* wondering - is the Master really in love with her? Is he just using her since politicians needs spouses? Obsessed, I tell you! I need Master/Lucy details!
I'm kinda blanking - did we get an idea of who these ball-things were? I'm wondering if they're some sort of bastardized Gallifreyans. Just like the Emperor of the Daleks made mutant Daleks, the Master's gone and made mutant Gallifreyans?
I just cannot shake the whole Bad Wolf thing - that it's popped up a couple of time in S3 and in Torchwood. And Jack was saying how he's had a feeling he's been kept alive for a reason. You know how the Master was saying he was setting a trap for the Doctor? Well, what if there was a trap inside the trap? Remember Tooth & Claw? Queen Vic's hubby put things into motion before his death. He wasn't actually involved in the springing of the trap, but... What if Vortex!Rose laid a trap for the Master? She wouldn't be involved in the springing of the trap (because, really, what could Rose herself do in this showdown?), but Bad Wolf put things into motion. *Including* making Jack immortal. Like the Doctor told the Queen - your husband was protecting you from beyond the grave. So perhaps we'll see Rose protecting the Doctor from beyond the grave in a manner of speaking.

I was half convinced - thanks, Wikipedia! - that one of the Toclafane would turn out to be Rose's trapped soul...

But now I've just looked a Wikipedia - I will not learn! Dammit! - and now know what they actually are. And it's sooo spoilery, so stay away people!

Strange, there's this urge to do exactly the opposite when people say things like 'stay away'... ;)

Nah, you won't need to, I refuse to spoil myself on that! It's like, like... reading THE big spoiler for HP6 before you've even received the book. *shudders*

Speculation is fun!

I just looked at wiki at "The Last of the Time Lords" and didn't see anything spoilery. Hmm. You know, I'm just not trusting *anything* that gets thrown on wiki right now. This last episode has NOT been screened by anyone. Scripts kept hush-hush and all that. I'm thinking that unless the BBC DW news page itself comes out and says something, I'm not buying it.

It's was on the Doctor Who monsters page, under Toclafane, but ooh, interestingly it's been taken down now. But the information was stated to have come from a leaked something-or-other from the BBC itself. So we'll see really, it sounded legit and possible, but then anything's possible with Doctor Who!

Yeah...I remain skeptical.

Lalalalala. I just remember all the whack-job "spoilers" that got thrown out there last year, and none of them turned out to be true.

I have a thory about Lucy in my LJ. LOL so far everyone as nayed it but hey I rarely meta outside my D/R comfort zone, so I deserve a break. I so want Master/Lucy back story. They are like an intergalatic Bonnie Clyde.

Oh, ha! You know, your theory would be quite awesome. Although that particular person would never be as squeamish about death.

I also really want to believe they really love each other and it isn't hypnosis or for power (although obviously for them to really be compatible there'd almost have to be an element of 'for the power' in it, like the Doctor and Rose and 'for the adventure'.

I've got no idea about the Toclafane, I'm hardly willing to speculate because I'm sure it will be heartbreaking, finales always are.

Although, it could be *very* interesting to find out that the Master's kinda created this perfect companion for himself. I'd heard that early on when pitching story ideas, the story first thrown out for Boom Town was that people would find out that the Doctor had in fact created Rose to be his ideal companion. Not sure how exactly, but thank God THAT didn't happen! *SHUDDERS*

HA! Well, apparently whatever it was got taken down. But last week there was something on there about Rose, which was NOT the case. I think people are having fun screwing with wiki at the moment and sitting back to watch fandom go nuts.

O.M.G!!! That would completely fit - but it'd have to be all of Utopia, not just the people headed there, since...6 billion. But the Master's right - the Doctor's hearts would break. There was that hope of humanity living on, but they've turned into inhuman things, just because they want to escape the darkness.

(sneaking in this thread for a second) Not to mention, if that's the case, that he's the one who made it possible for a good number of humans to go to Utopia. Now that would be ironic.

It was the most painful and evil theory I could come up with that didn't involve more Time Lords.

DW fans trying to find the most painful ways of breaking their Doctor... it's sad, really ^^

It so would be. And it's the place where the Doctor, and even Jack, got a glimmer of hope again - wanting to live and all that. OUCH.

The first thing that came to mind about this character, when we saw her reaction to The Master's behaviour - and something that has remained with me - is that she seems to almost be channelling somebody else.

I don't know if she's alien or not, or whether she and "Saxon" are a love-match (although that strikes me as a little unlikely for someone whose 'husband' appeared a mere 18 months or so previously), but her calm acceptance of "Saxon's" outrageous behaviour remind me somewhat of a Magda Goebbels or an Eva Braun.

Oh yeah! They could have had one of those in mind when creating the character. Man, I'm just so fascinated with Lucy right now.

I find it interesting that he called Lucy his Companion.

Maybe Lucy is to the Master what Rose is to the Doctor.

I have to admit I'm finding Lucy to be a bit of evil!Rose. The Master does seem to care about her (which is WEIRD and I can't help but to always tack on - "but maybe he's faking it.") But they're quite a bit alike - they're having fun during the destruction, unlike the Doctor and Rose who were having fun during the adventure.

Another interesting parallel between Rose and Lucy, is that they have both made their choice. Lucy chose to stay with the Master (so I assume she knows something about him) while Rose chose to stay with the Doctor.

Yeah, I noticed that one as well. Lends to the evil!Rose thing, don't it?

Yeah, showing that the Master is the Doctors parallel in many ways.

1) Please please tell me that David Tennant is coming back next season, and we're not going to see him regenerate into a new Doctor to reverse Saxon's sonic laser thing.

3) I have a few theories on what the Toclafane are, but I'll keep those to myself for now; I will say this much: quite a few things reminded me of previous baddies and scenes throughout the series.

I watched Tooth and Claw again at the weekend and there's a lot of mention of the fact that Queen Victoria liked ghost stories because it hinted at the possibility of hearing from people who'd crossed over - and you're right about her husband protecting her after he died by setting the trap for the werewolf.
