Speculation!
Oh man. Remember how last year they were giving us TARDISodes during the finale arc? Wasn't it daily TARDISodes? Or were they even calling them TARDISodes? They were tiny preview clips. I remember the massive theory in fandom that Rose would wind up leaving the Doctor, to, um, "grow up" or something. A few us muttered to each other that we *swore* that wasn't how we were reading canon, but what did we know? But the thought of Rose up and leaving the Doctor was so loathsome that a few of us were talking about wanting her to have a heroic death instead of that.
And then the TARDISode aired of that "never leave you" scene and there was this \o/ and "I knew I hadn't been imagining those scenes in TIP and PotW!" (You can never quite tell - fandom so often makes you start thinking canon was all this dream.)
Why am I saying all this? Because Martha hasn't updated her myspace yet, and I'm a bit sad.
ETA: HA! I've begun to talk to myself with the spec. Feel free to mock.

- Hmmm. Had a thought about Lucy. She seemed *really* keyed in on this event - like "how long do we have to wait?" which sounded a bit...Toclafane. Plus the Toclafane are very "Where's the Master? We love the Master!" Whatever the Toclafane are, I'm wondering if Lucy just got a human body. ETA: Oh. Wait. That woman from Torchwood was talking about how Lucy actually *had* a history and a past, unlike the Master. Nope, Lucy's just wonderfully batshit. :D ETA2: Oh, but if the Toclafane *are* #2, then she'd just have this slot to slide into... Yup, WAY over-thinking this. The ending will probably turn out to be because of squirrels or something.
- OH LORD. I just had a horrible thought. 6 billion - about the population of the planet, right? What if these balls are sort of Cybermanish? And...these entities/balls are people from Rose's AU, which was starting to collapse from the whole thing last year. *SOBS* (Yes, I'm afraid I just won't be able to let go of the Rose speculation for this finale, and yes, I'm aware she went bye-bye in Doomsday.) ETA: Although, would people really be willing to slaughter other people just to live? I guess like the Doctor said though, some of the most horrible acts have been committed because of fear.
- For some reason I keep getting the feeling that there's going to be a bit of a reset at the end. I don't know why. The paradox machine, maybe. And killing off a tenth of the planet seems really, really dark, even for Doctor Who. Plus, Martha really needs her flat.
- ETA: All right, where's the bloody Dalek? You just KNOW it's gonna pop up in the finale. DUDE! Maybe the Toclafane are the love children of the Cybermen and the Daleks!! Okay, I should probably just stop now.

Martha is really slacking.

Tell me about it. "... I swore I thought I saw that happen on screen, but they're saying... huh. Maybe I'm just losing it. *scratches head*"

I really hope they manage without a Dalek this time around. They've got enough to deal with in the finale without tossing a Dalek into the mix, for pity's sake.

I mean, I know with Who you've got a bit of "pick-and-choose canon" going on, just because of contradictions over the years, but sometimes it gets a bit O_O.

I wonder. I mean, you've got the Master there *because* of the Time War - it wouldn't surprise me.
OH! What if the Master created this Dalek ball race using the genetic material from the Doctor's hand? His "children" would be destroying the Earth then. And they seemed to have a few examples of cross-breeding in S3 for some really bizarre reason.
But clearly the answer to these ball things is what will be heartbreaking to the Doctor, as mentioned by the Master - as well as RTD saying the finale would be heartbreaking.
PLUS, you've got the title - "Last of the Time Lords." Perhaps the Doctor will have to destroy these "children"?
Wow, I've so gone off the deep end with spec, haven't I?

I have a feeling the Toclafane are exactly that(#4). With a dash of Time Lord. AND have everything to do with point #2. I'm scared that's the "heartbreak" thing, since there isn't much worse than that.
#1 is something I hadn't put together, but it does make sense.
I think Martha needs to get her priorities in order and update that Myspace page. We need speculation material. And mocking.

I just commented to Beck with that notion - that it's some Time Lord thrown in there as well! And that there'd be this whole perpetuation of the Time Lords - sorta - but they're gonna have to be destroyed.

She could just be nuts, though. :D

She does! Wonder if they'll do it this round, though.

And they were so child-like, which makes me think they aren't that old. Gah. Puh-leese don't tell me the Doctor is gonna hafta destroy 6 billion Time Lord kids. RTD is one sick bastard if that's the case.
She could just be nuts, though. :D
Honestly, I'd prefer it if that were the case. She's just so psycho, I love her to bits.

If they haven't done it by now, they they probably won't. It's a shame though, I'll miss the mocking this week.

Yeah, good point. They just didn't *sound* like they'd be the population from Rose's AU. THANK GOD. (I live in perpetual fear that Rose will get either killed off or they'll forever close down that possibility of her coming back. If they leave it all, I'll be fine.)

Kinda makes you wonder with the title and all.
Swear to God, the Doctor's going to need to go spend time at a petting zoo for a year after all this.
Honestly, I'd prefer it if that were the case. She's just so psycho, I love her to bits.
Yeah, there's just this fascination with the two of them, especially if Lucy's just this nutter he happened to come across.
If they haven't done it by now, they they probably won't. It's a shame though, I'll miss the mocking this week.

OT: I am sure you don't plan to watch, but they just showed pics of Billie on the set of her new project Belle de Jour on ONTD. She looks great.

I'm starting to get a bit nervous about it all. It's NOT going to be good, whatever it is.

2. My Rose-related thought of the moment is that someone/something needs to help the TARDIS repaired itself and Rose-as-Bad-Wolf would be perfect. Plus, it could leave her a little bit on the dark side, which would mean hope for but not a happy ending straight away for the Doctor and Rose.
3. Very much agree. There's gonna have to be some kind of reset because everything's so public now - the Doctor has been made public, really, 'cause I'm assuming they caught him on camera aboard the ship as well as when he was most wanted and part of what makes the Earth-based stories succeed is because no one knows who he is - or at least, they don't know at first that he's an alien.
4... Maybe the Toclafane are the love children of the Cybermen and the Daleks!! Okay, I should probably just stop now.
That is disturbing. Very, very disturbing. *shudders* *grins*

2. I wonder if they'd ever do the BadWolf!Rose again though. Don't know how they could, unless they'd do another regeneration.
3. Oh, good point about it all being public. I mean, after all is said and done, they'll probably be heroes. That's nice for Martha, but I'm thinking Jack and the Doctor just really don't want that attention. But still - I just keep getting this "reset button" itch.
no subject
Or else have Jack be the one who takes it from her... It can't kill him; he'd just come back again. Poor Jack *g* I wonder how many times he's gonna die in the finale!

There are 6.6 billion people in the world. Kill a tenth, and that leaves 6 billion. The Toclafane are us, that's what the Paradox Machine does, creates a time loop...

Of course, now I want an icon with "Dance Party in the TARDIS!", which is so totally your fault. ;)

I don't know whether to be sad or happy but seeing as your sad, and the lack of her update deprives us of your great mocking abilities, I think I'll join the sad group. Maybe she'll update tomorrow? right before the episode?
That was my first reaction when I heard that number. Part of me doesn't want to know at this moment, who/what, the Toclafane are especially since the news/episode are suppose to be heartbreaking.
It'd be very interesting to see how this would play out. I'm not quite sure about one thing though. Which of the main characters would remember the events that took place? How much would be remembered? This is only with the reset were to happened.
I'd actually love to have one finale without the Daleks but if they are integral to this finale... then I'd be... fine with... them. ^_^

Okay, I admit it. I just wanted to MST it. Rats.

I know. This is just going to be so bad. Like the Doctor hasn't gone through hell already this series.

Yeah, not sure. I suppose some Martha character development would be lost that way, wouldn't it?

I'm not sure Cardiff knows how to do a finale without a Dalek. :D
