Yeah, you are so right. Definitely one of the things I liked best about tLotTL was Martha's send-off (I can't believe her fans are pitching a fit... I mean, REALLY?!). Other than being true to her character arc and all, it IS a somewhat "happy" ending.
Considering that many a companion wound up in very different places after things were over, some even dead, yeah. Martha really got a fantastic departure.
Yeah. I'd say these last couple of episodes have given me the only insight into Martha that I've actually *liked.* And I feel like she's FINALLY done what I've been waiting for her to do all season long.
I think part of the problem was that they dragged out that whole unrequited love thing past the point of tolerance for most people. For the person that they set Martha up to be, I was expecting for her to hash things out/confront the Doctor about it way earlier on. But they needed it for the finale, as well as it bringing other elements as long as well.
