I remember back when S2 was airing. People kept talking about how the point of Rose should have been for her to become a better person while traveling with the Doctor. Well, I'd agree she did become a better person, but that really didn't seem to be the point with her character arc. Martha on the other hand, looking back over S3, her character arc really did seem to be about becoming that tougher, kinder, wiser person.
