I need a vacation.

On the list for this weekend:
  • Catching up on sleep.
  • Possibly seeing Harry Potter. I've never read a single book, but I think the movies are entertaining, and usually catch them in the theater. Plus it looks like it's gotten decent reviews.
  • Do something outside. It's been beautiful weather around here lately. Last year we had 100 degree weather starting in May and lasting through September. This year is more normal, with temps in the low 80s. PERFECT.
  • Hunt down produce stand. There used to be tons of them all over the county, but not so much anymore. I want some real produce. And I want to grill something.
  • Try poking brain on fic.

Possible extracurricular activities might involve fic reading. (omg) At the moment I am full of squee at my lovely Doctor/Rose pairing after doing a big D/R picspam. *PETS THEM LIKE MAD* And might be thinking about looking at reunion fics. After last year - I had no interest in other fics as I had my own story to tell and poured all my energies into that (basically from 2 weeks after Doomsday aired until October.) After this year - I'm interested in other people's stories. Stories where they're reunited. \o/ I still boggle a bit that S3 has made me want this even *more* than after Doomsday. Doomsday was just sadness that needed to be turned into happiness. *nods* S3 was all about need. On top of that sadness.

It was harder to identify the need while in S2, since there was just a lot of bouncing and fun. You did get a hint of what was going on from time to time - you saw the Doctor still having that Time War pain in S2. It was definitely still around, but with Rose there, the pain was manageable because of...well, lots of things that involved Rose. S3 - sometimes you don't know what you've got until it's gone. The contrast between the Doctor with Rose and the Doctor without Rose was insanely huge.

Rose brought a lot of peace to the soul of this being who is like fire and ice and rage, who's like the night and the storm in the heart of the sun, and who is ancient and forever. And I'd love to see him have that peace back. I think he deserves some peace.

Had a thought about Donna's entrance and how to get her back on the TARDIS after her whole choice not to go. It could be rather amusing to have her being pursued by some guy that she doesn't really like. Much like she did to what's-his-name in TRB.

Donna: *bursts into the TARDIS* OMG, get me out of here!

Doctor: I really should remember to lock that.

Donna: I *need* to get out of town for a while! Go!

Doctor: But what about me scaring you...?

Donna: *THWAP THWAP THWAP* FLY THIS THING, YOU MARTIAN!

Donna: You're *still* by yourself?

Doctor: Well, um, no, actually, I was traveling with a couple of people for a while...

Donna: Let me guess, you said something to tick them off and they left. *What* a surprise. Did they punch you in the mouth before they left?

Doctor: No, I got a salute and a hug.

Donna: You must be improving then. I think I might be persuaded to stick around this time.

Hee, I like the Donna scenario :D And I also recommend Harry Potter, I really enjoyed it - I'd heard it was slow but I didn't notice. It was a bit long and my bum started to hurt but other than that I enjoyed it!

I have no idea why, but I just keep getting amused at the idea of Donna and the Doctor bitching at each other. A LOT. :D And the Doctor being the one to be a wee bit scared of her instead of the other way around. *snickers*

Yeah, I might have to check it out. HP is one of those movies where I just love sitting in that world for a couple of hours. The plot is *almost* secondary. Kind of like PotC movies for me.

Can totally see Donna making the Dr scared of her. The Dr needs someone who's not going to go on and on about love etc Just someone to stare at him a bit, go 'what' and then beat him until he takes her somewhere fun!

*SNORTS*

I have to admit, I'm becoming really intrigued at how the dynamics are actually going to shake down. Of course, I reserve the right to become annoyed by the whole thing by mid-S4.

I loved the HP movie, but you'll have to tell us what you think about it. I'm very curious as to how someone who hasn't read the books will take it (since they had to whack a whoooooole bunch of stuff from the book in order to fit it into movie-length).

Amen, sister. And there just doesn't seem to be a lot of reunion fic out there. *pokes DW fandom in general* Good reunion fic, anyway. ;-) Apparently there's absolutely loads and loads of silly, poorly characterized, poorly written reunion fic out there. I'm very cautious about what I even start to read, though, so I've missed most of it.

I think he deserves some peace.

*sob* Amen. I just don't get people who want him to be lonely and tortured forever. Gee, that's nice. And you like the Doctor? Really? *mutters*

Donna: *THWAP THWAP THWAP* FLY THIS THING, YOU MARTIAN!

*laughs* Oh, Donna. I look forward to you so much.

And I've decided not to spoil myself before seeing it, just for the heck of it. So I really have no clue what this one's story is even about.

Pfffft! Nuts! There needs to be some sort of reunion ficathon or something to fill my craving. 'Cause it's all about me.

Heh. Yeah.

*laughs* Oh, Donna. I look forward to you so much.

I'm having a bit of Donna fear at the moment - that I'll be vastly amused by her at first, but I'll get tired of her quickly. (Hey, would I be me if I *wasn't* flailing about future episodes?)

[joins you in the boggling] It is really amazing, isn't it? That's one of the things that gives me hope that Rusty's going to reunite the Doctor and Rose at the end of series 4.

And hee, I'm already so excited about Donna, I don't know how I'm going to last until next year. God, NEXT YEAR!!!!!! Life is cruel.

Just got back from seeing Harry Potter, and this one might just be my favorite. I thought the pacing was really good, it was actually interesting visually, and the acting was not bad at all. So, go for it, I say!

*fidgets* Would be nice to have BP turn up for DT's sendoff. (I think he's calling it quits after S4, yes?)

They should spread these things out or something! Like...air one episode a little more than once a month. Sustained fix!

Ooooh. Sounds good!

DT's been playing things so close to the vest, he's probably got the answer tattooed on his chest. But it makes sense that since it's all but announced that Rusty's leaving at the end of series 4 that DT would leave too. [sniff]

Exactly! I mean, this is awful--show ends in June, wait six months for a special episode, then wait another three months for the show to come back. It's completely ridiculous, but it still works, but it's also awful having to wait.

I'm being dragged going to see Harry Potter this weekend, too!

I would die in a place that had 100 degree weather every day. OMGZ.

I still boggle a bit that S3 has made me want this even *more* than after Doomsday.

ME, TOO. It's a little scary. Post-Doomsday I was all in this phase of: "Must help them move on so I can move on!" and now I'm all: "SHMOOPY REUNION FIC WITH CUDDLING." I sat down yesterday night to write something dark and twisty, and I got a fluffy reunion fic instead. I don't know.

And heh! That is probably exactly how Donna will end up on the TARDIS again. And then one day, the Doctor will wake up and find her eating fruit loops at the kitchen table and wonder when she stayed on permanently.

Fortunately, it usually only happens for a few weeks out of the year - last year was bad though.

MWAH!! I think probably because we want what we don't have. I had no desire to write fluff while S2 was airing, but after Doomsday, I couldn't stop writing fluff snips. :D

Oh, yeah. Absolutely. And I know at least PART of it for me was that back before S3 aired, I fully expected the Doctor to be at least outwardly over Rose by the second or third episode. (And for Martha and Ten to have way more chemistry than they did). Now I'm pretty much going: Doctor/Rose - Twue Wuv 4eva!

I'd definitely recommend going to watch Harry Potter, especially at an IMAX theater because of the 3-D. Either way, I found it fantastic, even if they cut out way too much in my opinion. ^_^

By the way, love the entrance you gave Donna. It would be so like her to have this happen. I wonder if she'll still be all "missing the big picture" type of character.

Oh and I just had a thought after watching The Shakespeare's Code on Sci-Fi. Wouldn't it be cool if maybe Queen Elizabeth I meets the Doctor, for her first time, with Donna! That meeting would definitely be something I'd like to see!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-07-14 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
3D? Wow. Does it seem weird to watch something like that for 2 hours? I'm picturing getting a wee bit motion sick from that. :-\

Donna - they're gonna have to do something a bit different to get her back on board, I'm thinking.

And it'd probably be way too tempting to do a QEI episode with Donna. I could see how Donna and the Doctor could piss her off. :D

Oh sorry about that. ^_^" I should have been a bit more specific. The whole movie isn't 3-D but the last 20 minutes are suppose to be the 3-D portion. It's during the "big fight". I say suppose because CityWalk's IMAX theater should have worked but didn't on the day that I went... They gave me re-admit tickets for the inconvenience but I guess I still upset about it

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. Wonder if it's worth it to go to an IMAX.
