Am I setting back the cause of women by getting hives just thinking about going to Home Depot?

I want to do something to my kitchen sink, and I'm afraid I'm gonna have to go there for the tool. *shudders* Maybe I'll reward myself by getting a new plant as well, to replace the one I killed by chopping it up. (What? It grew back before!)

Ha, it's all about who you get to help you. My dad used to work there, and he was really nice, but I have gone and been IGNORED for half an hour while actively trying to seek a sales associate. I make him go with me now.

Wow, now that's just bad customer relations. BAH!

I say no. But only because most Home Depots are so large that they need their own zip code, and there's always the possibility that you could get lost and have wander through the Land of Pain Swatches for the rest of eternity.

I just kind of go into a daze when I walk into them. And today was no exception. Found what I was looking for though.

When I was a kid, I was terrified of places like Home Depot. Those big fork-lift type machines they drive around in? The HUGE stacks of lumber that look like a giant baby's building blocks? I thought I was going to die every time I went in there. Seriously, I had nightmares.

Now I love going there. I'd totally go buy your tool for you if I could, because an excuse to go and play with power tools or even non-power tools? Awesome. ;) However, being a female engineer, I'm in no way representative of our gender, so... no, I think you're okay not wanting to go. :)

Home Depot, I'm generally "meh" about. Lowe's is better. Being in Illinois, though, I have the luxury of Menard's as a first choice. :-)

We have Lowe's around here, but Home Depot is much closer. Lowe's is definitely less scary.

And when I hear Menard's, MST3K always pops into my head.

"It's a giant spider invasion of savings at Menard's!"

I do occasionally engage in magical fix maintenance, yes. :D

And the poor plant. It was top-heavy and so had to be cut down. But it doesn't look like it's going to grow back this time.

I know this is horrible to admit...whenever I go to home improvement stores, I always wear either short skirts and 4" heels or jeans and tank tops and walk in and look around like I'm lost. Within 2 minutes, I have someone getting me whatever it is I came in for with absolutely no effort on my part. (And I know where & what everything is in the store, I just don't like to deal with it.) So, no fussing from me about setting women back.
