I saw the Harry Potter movie, and have some comments that have Book 7 spoilers.
Overall, pretty entertaining. I think my favorite part was the battle at the end with all the different people. They could have definitely had more of that, and cut out the whole thing with Hagrid's brother, which seemed incredibly pointless. Come to think of it, pretty much everything with Hagrid in this movie seemed pointless - it could have all been cut and I wouldn't have noticed a thing. But I'm someone who hasn't read the books and so I guess I'm coming at it with more "lite" knowledge. Maybe all the Hagrid stuff is important in the bigger scheme of things?
So. Question. You know how it winds up with Harry/Ginny OTP? Eventually they *will* talk to each other, right? Or even a head-nod?
Hermione and Ron were cute and have this whole "40-year-old mom and dad" thing going, especially when getting Harry to talk about his kiss with Cho. That cracked me up.
Oh, what happened to the rest of the kids when Harry went after the orb thing? I thought there was a point to training up all these people, and then...it never really panned out. But maybe this is something that comes later.
Also of note: interesting seeing that James Potter wasn't the saint that Harry thinks he was. Guess it went along with the whole theme that everyone has good and evil in them - no real black and white.
Poor emo Harry. Full of teen angst and woe. *pats*

Nope. I find your optimism very endearing, however!

This is not so important as you would think. Ginny magically getting all hot works as a surprisingly good catalyst.

I have a special fondness for caps!lock Harry.

Although, the final battle at the Ministry was much longer and cooler in the book.
Grawp remains pointless.

Heh. I've been trying to tone down my HP snark recently, but it's not really working. :D

Yeah! There were some really cool things that happened in the book during that fight. Though I do commend it for being the only scene in the movie that didn't put me to sleep.
Who is this Grawp you speak of? *scratches head*

Well, damn!

Ah ha! One of those deep, meaningful bonds things.

Never ignore emoHarry, for he will YELL!

Yep, Harry gets a "chest" monster, and Ginny gets beautiful windblown hair. It's all very meaningful. I completely believe that their soul mates and everything because he obviously can't live without her and sees her when looking in her mother's eyes. It's a very profound relationship.
Sarcasm is fun.

Ummm...not exactly. Hagrid really isn't all that important after the first couple stories. Actually he did have more importance in the OOTP book, but...not huge in the grand scheme of things. (Book 7 spoiler: he doesn't even die in the end which seemed like it would give the character importance again).

Well...I don't know. I thought that was pretty funny in the movie too and I saw it before I read DH. Ginny's so part of the background here even more than the book because this was where her part started getting surprisingly beefed up over her role in the first four books. Here she's beefed up only in that she can cast ridiculously powerful spells.
Also of note: interesting seeing that James Potter wasn't the saint that Harry thinks he was.
I want to know when he grew up about things. Maybe after getting out of school and starting to fight Voldemort, but I don't know. I wish they'd done more with that in the movie, but I get they were pressed for time.

I've always been one of the seeming few who likes OOTP Harry, but then sometimes teen angst and woe works for me.

Yeesh! Then they should have really cut it.

Yeah. BOOM! Of course, I don't know that she ever even spoke in the movie...

Would have been interesting, yeah.

Uhm...not really. For me, as I read the books, I really thought it came out of nowhere. Ginny gradually became outspoken as we saw through Harry's POV, but other than that, it just sort of happens. I won't spoil HBP or DH for you, though. :D

Well, they actually are a lot more important in the books; they fend off Death Eaters with newly-learned spells from the DA and it sort of sets you up with how much knowledge they've actually acquired Defence-wise by the time DH rolls around.
I also think that Hagrid is definitely important. Maybe not monumentally so, but he has a hand in some things later on. I don't mind Hagrid, but I could have done with less of Filch sitting in the corridor and more Neville's parents and Occlumency. :/

I don't care about being spoiled. I've read people's thoughts on Book 7.
So...just kind of a strange insta-relationship, eh?

Yeah, I was waiting to see something like that.

The more I think about it, the more I can think of things that I could have seen cut and replaced by other things I was more interested in.

That's the way I felt when I read book 6. You know from the books that she's got a thing for Harry, but he never seemed to pay much attention to her. Then suddenly in book 6 he's all jealous of her boyfriend(s). JKR claims she'd been leading up to it all along. Maybe I need a reread of the books, but other than Harry's sudden about face in book 6, there hadn't been ANY indication for me prior to that book that Harry was even remotely interested in Ginny romantically.

Me and my friend got really excited at one bit where Ginny looks at Harry and Cho with a sad/jealous expression. No, really! We weren't grasping at straws at all....
(I'm
an obsessivea bit of a Harry/Ginny shipper, so despite how horribly written it is in the books, I find myself overlooking that XD)no subject

lol I think she had all of 3 lines. Mind you I don't think she had that many in the book. Harry suddenly seems to realise her existence.
I kept annoying my friend shrieking! "they've cut another chapter out!" I'm a bit of a HP nut :D
