It's not a good night unless you get a traffic cone!

When I pulled up yet another Red Dwarf episode on Netflix online viewing, I noticed that they've added a slew of new things. Like you can now watch Doctor Who S1 online. Not that I need to as I own the DVDs.

Wasn't someone on my flist talking about Ballykissangel - that I needed to watch it? Or something? That's on there too to watch online.

Next up on my physical DVDs is Rome.

Ballykissangel was probably the first programme I ever shipped a pair in. I would only have been 11/12 when it was on lol. I got so into it, I even went to where it was filmed when I was on holiday :D

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
May I ask what it is about?

[identity profile] makesometime.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Roughly, as it's been a while, it's about a vicar who goes into a very Irish community and has to work to be accepted, falling in love with the female landlord at the same time. :)

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that with Father Ted and that woman who liked tea? I think I heard of it and it used to air on PBS here.

[identity profile] fiona-conn.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
No, that's "Father Ted". *Grin*

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
LMAO. Yes I am indeed the weakest link.

[identity profile] makesometime.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Hee, someone already got there first but no, it's something veeeery different. I sat here giggling for a moment over the comparison, but that's just their sheer difference in tone and humour :D

Female pub landlord. Darn it, I didn't read before I posted.

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
May I rec some UK shows for your enjoyment? Well I am going to even you say no. So there. :p

Dramas, Comedies and More:

Cold Feet
Life on Mars
Afterlife
My Family
Hex (the first seven episodes at any rate. I didn't care for the rest as much)
As If (not on DVD, but I can show you some downloads)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
I saw an episode of Hex once, and couldn't figure out what it was that I was watching... :D

I've heard of Life on Mars (due to what's-his-name) - have to check that out. Might have to take a look at the others as well.

Well quite frankly I am brilliant when it comes to TV taste, so I think you should take my suggestions Bwahahhahahaa I amuse myself so easily.

BALLYK! =DDDDD

Awww, I've not seen BallyK in aaaaaaaages! XDDDD

You'll love it! It's cute as hell! Used to be on Saturday nights, if memory serves. I remember watching an episode featuring hurly one night after a bicycle accident (I think it might have been the same accident that lead to me getting into Star Trek...)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Awwwww! It does sound like something I'd like.

Ballyk!

I babbled about that for quite a while in my LJ last year. It's cute and really funny for the first two seasons, but gets extremely soapy in season three (quicky marriages, deaths, bankruptcies, you name it--and in a season with only twelve episodes). The ending of that season is PAINFUL, OMG. I cried like a little girl. And then the next three seasons involve massive cast changes and are apparently practically a different show; I didn't bother with them.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
You know, it very well could be from you babbling about it. You always post about this wide array of shows and then six months later I'm suddenly wondering why I've heard of Slings & Arrows and why I think I need to watch it. :D

And [livejournal.com profile] fairygnomes said the 1 - 3 thing as well. I'll keep that in mind when I roll around to watching it.

Well, I don't call myself the fandom addiction fairy for nothing, you know. ;) (Heh, I managed to get one person hooked on S&A and due South, and she in turn hooked another friend of ours, so now I'm actually a fandom addiction fairy franchise!)

As for Ballyk, I think there was...one character who stayed for all six seasons? Maybe two? The two main characters from S1-3 definitely are long gone after the end of 3.

[identity profile] samkicksass.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
It may have been me going on about BallyK. Yes, it looks like the first season is online viewing at Netflix. Did you have any problems with the DRM thingy that you ahve to DL before viewing?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
DRM thingy? I sorta remembered that I had to download something first. In other words, I guess the answer's no. Haven't had any problems. I do know you can't watch in Firefox and have to use IE, which is a shame.

[identity profile] samkicksass.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
I sent an email to Netflix telling them how shameful it is that we can't watch in Firefox.
