Rosespam!
I'm feeling in the mood for a Rosespam, which didn't rate a filter since it's not meta and not *really* D/R. (Okay, maybe a bit sneaks in here and there. Proceed at your own risk.)

This ranks up there as one of the best character intros EVER, in my book. This person groggily gets out of bed with actual bad hair! In this overly-sanitized Hollywood world, how often do you see that in a main (and woman) character? Actually, I've had an extreme fondness for Rose's hit-and-miss hair in S1 and S2.

I always love this shot in relation to where S1 ended. Here she runs past an object she is completely oblivious to, where by the end, she and the object would go running off to save the weird dude she just met in the basement.

Good thing Rose didn't jam a broom handle through there or something. :D

Rose: Uh...big frickin' wheel. Dork.

Hee!

Love that she's always, "but wait a moment" when she doesn't understand something, even if she's in a fantastical environment. She soaked up information like a frickin sponge. And the Doctor luuurves to impart knowledge - it's like crack to him. :D

Thinking not about the cool event that just happened, but about everything that's now gone and simply dust.

I have the feeling that Rose would try to snuggle a porcupine if it was hurting. (Actually...that's fairly fitting of the Doctor. Heh heh.)

Rose: You? Are totally weird. Again, DORK.

Doctor: Crap. I landed in the wrong time.
Rose: Um, we're in the 1800s and you care about being a few years off? Have I mentioned the dork thing?

Rose: Puns. TOTAL DORK.

She never let the Doctor bully her out of her beliefs. Yay, Rose!

Rose: We'll go down fighting, yeah? Together?
Doctor: Fantastic.

Rose: *kisses Dickens to the surprise of both him and the Doctor*

Rose: Sit. Stay. Good Doctor.

Rose: Dork dork dork DORK!

Rose: I know you don't do families, but tough. DEAL.

Just another typical day...

Problem-solving time.

Rose: You're stuck with me now. Sucks to be you! HA!!
Doctor: Yes. *ahem* Sucks to be me. *quickly squirrels away her bag in the TARDIS*

It's cute how quickly she and the Doctor started playing with each other. (Not THAT kind of playing, you gutter-dwelling freaks!)

Watching her parents get married. A lot of stuff with Rose was personal - even storylines.

Beating herself up over her dad - for freezing when he died.

*Really* beating herself up when the Doctor "died."

The Doctor and Rose would suck as undercover spies. SUCK!

Rose: Lalala. Barrage balloon. Whatevers.
Doctor: Buhwuh??

Rose: Seriously? You "dance?" But won'tfandom the universe implode if you, um, dance?

Rose: Totally calling your bluff.

Rose: Right. This sort of swaying? Not exactly dancing. You're a dork, but I'm starting to think you're a cute dork.

Rose: Okay, wasn't wild about the premature-spinning.
Doctor: Wah.

Rose: BETTER. Much much better! Have a cookie!

Rose is the one just rescued, but she asks the Doctor how he's doing. Awww.

*snickers*

Rose tries to beat the TARDIS into taking her back to the game station.

Have always said that TPotW had three partings - Rose being one of them in finally making the decision which world to live in. She just didn't belong in her old life anymore, didn't know how to verbalize that and so just ended up getting frustrated.

Rose: Hey.
TARDIS: Hey.
Rose: We go get our Doctor now?
TARDIS: Damn straight.

Rose: *rides in on blue horse to save the man-in-distress and the day*

Rose: BYE BYE DALEKS! *splodes*

Rose: I have no idea what just happened, but I'm here and you're talking gibberish. Everything's back to normal then!

Rose: Okaaaay. NOT NORMAL.

Rose: Gimme my Doctor back, you hosebeast!

Rose: Riiiiight. No.

Rose: Really, no.

This is cool direction here. Everyone's attention is focused on the robots except for Rose, whose attention is on the Doctor. Trying to figure him out is *way* more important to her than some cheesy Santa robots.

Remember the whole "Rose would try to snuggle a porcupine if it was hurting" thing? Well, it kicks in again, in spite of Rose's Do Not Want with the Doctor.

But it all finally catches up with her that the person she thought she knew is seemingly gone.

Rose takes charge and calls for a retreat.

Echoes of the Doctor's "taking a stand when no one else will" - she lives that philosophy now, even if scared out of her mind.

Rose: Okay, you *might* be the same person...

Rose: Okay, you are the same person! \o/

Rose: Same person and kinda hot.

Rose: Woo! Dork crowns!

Ready for more adventure.

Mwah.

Rose: Pay no attention to him. He's a total dork.

Rose is very much "Things! And stuff!" like the Doctor here. Their combined curiosity could kill scores of cats.

Rose: *patpatpat* Dork.

Rose: So, I'm trying to win this bet...
Doctor: *facepalm*

It didn't happen very often, but it would amuse me to no end when Rose and the Doctor would bitch at each other in that non-malicious way.

Nah, definitely never Miss Perfect Heroine. Rose freezes in horror.

Oh, I've had many many debates about this whole 5 second time-out of "OMG, werewolf!" and that supposedly shows how Rose is a self-centered bitch. And...I'm pretty well sick of the subject.

Rose: Um, RUDE.

Rose: LO-SER.
Doctor: SHAZBOT.

Rose: This is payback for you losing the bet, isn't it?

Rose Tyler: Chips Stealer

Meow!

Girl-bonding time!

Sarah Jane: He *is* a dork!
Rose: I know, right?!

At the end of TGitF, after the Doctor had gone after Reinette, Rose was more concerned about the Doctor, rather than throwing some sort of jealous fit. That's class.

They really had so much fun together, even just telling stories - where they were both there! HA!!!

And Rose takes off, not caring if the Doctor comes along or not. Even though there was this whole relationship thing developing, I never saw Rose losing her independence. The Doctor on the other hand...

Rose: I. Own. You.

Doctor: \o/

Oh, Rose. She always got a bit messed up when it came to her family. Even AU people.

Making sure Jackie - the real Jackie - is still alive.

Rose: *plays*

Rose: Bwahaha! Dork. You landed in the wrong time and place again.
Doctor: Wah.

Rose seems fairly oblivious to the fact that she has evolved into a dork as well.

Not quite a porcupine...

She does her own investigating, ignoring the Doctor.

Rose: MORTGAGE!

Doctor: OMFG.
Rose: Totally better than a scary story.

Satan: Hey.
Rose: ...
Doctor: Oh, is that Satan? Need to talk to him when you're done.

Yeah, I just like this shot. Heh.

Rose: Lalala. Protein One. Whatevers.
Doctor: Buhwuh??

I'm probably *way* too amused when Rose bitches out the Doctor here.

Rose: BYE BYE, SATAN! *splodes*

Stuff of legend. Huzzah!

"Blue!" "Not blue!" Mwah.

First Rose comes storming out to kick Elton's ass, completely ignoring the weird-looking alien. Then the Doctor and Rose proceed to gossip about the weird-looking alien while it's standing right there. *TOTALLY AMUSED*

Rose: Dooooooork.

Rose: Aww! Cute...
Doctor: Thank you. I so totally am.
Rose: ...kitty!
Doctor: Wah.

Rose: What did I tell you about licking in public??

Doctor: Um...

Rose: D'awwww. (Dork.)

There's quite a bit of glee there at pickaxing the street. :D

So much happybouncyyay.

Rose: Bwahahahaha! ON YOUR OWN!

Rose: I'm not laughing *at* you in the fact that my mother's in the TARDIS, I'm laughing with you. Okay, I'm not. It's at you. Bwahahahahaha!

Rose stares the Doctor down after he yells at her for coming back, very much in echo of TPotW. Rose never has been one to let the Doctor make the final decision for her own life, even though he's tried. (only have this scene in this weird format)

Another weird format one, and WOE.
Just woe.
And since I can't possibly leave it there...

Rose: *whacks the Doctor for a pun* Dork.

You pick the best shots that totally validate everything I ever think about them that gets constantly shot down in flames by others.
I adore the intro of Rose as well! It shows just how normal she is - she's not a great beauty with perfect hair, she's just a regular person just like you. It's what made me love her :)

I remembered when I watched that opening scene for the very first time and saw the bad hair and the messy bedroom and thought, "Oh, this is going to be *interesting*." Heh.

She so did own him. Poor Doctor--no wonder he glommed onto the Master. He needs someone to own him. Hee!
(Also, Satan on the phone? Totally creeped me out in the episode, totally cracked me up here.)

Thanks!
So adorable, our Rose, and the utterly dorky side she brought out in her Doctor(s).
*nods*
Cuddling a porcupine? Hey, she tried to comfort a Dalek--pretty sure that pwns a porcupine.
TOTALLY. Yeah, Rose will try to comfort *anything.*
And I never got why the "Werewolf! Kewl!" thing was so awful. That's par for the course with them. Scary-ass situation, and they can still pause and revel in the coolness of it all. I *like* that. Think it's one of their best qualities, actually.
Yeah, I liked it as well. That and the Doctor's brief "That's beautiful" in that ep - the rest of the time they were running around trying to save the queen and being pretty well horrified at the people being killed. The Doctor's moment and Rose's moment? I've seen far more callous behavior from the Doctor in the classic series than this. Far more.
She so did own him. Poor Doctor--no wonder he glommed onto the Master. He needs someone to own him. Hee!
*SNORTS* He just needs to be commanded!

I don't know about freezing in horror at the wolf though. To me she seemed so connected to it like kindred spirits and was sort of facinated in my opinion. I have all sorts of conspiracy theories on bad wolf and how the wolf was 'rose's animal' after all she is a dog in the AU!
i also think there is a lot of the forth doctor in rose- that pickaxe scene where she is grinning manically and being witty is sooo..tom baker- and the scarf in boomtown of course :D

Whoa, wild! :D Yeah, I think I always saw her as horrified in that scene - a bit like when what's-his-name said he was staying behind outside the door towards the end of the ep. Rose is in the background, but there's this sort of horrified shock on her face. To me, at least.

Rose's intro is one of the best and that realistic touch is one of the main reasons why I came to love Rose so much. She's not perfect, screws up on occasion, doesn't always know what she's doing, but she's still brave and brilliant and fun and that's why it ends up being rather easy to believe in her character.
The long hallway shot from TEOTW? Still one of my all-time favorites. It seriously gives me chills.
I just love how both the Doctor and Rose have so many mirroring scenes of concern for each other and that they both just wanted the other to be happy.
On a completely superficial note, DT and BP look absolutely beautiful in TIP/TSP episodes. Not quite sure what it is about those episodes, but there you go. :)
And on a completely random note...
In regards to the Doctor being a dork, etc., I've been watching some of the older DW episodes and I'm almost done with the very first set of episodes with One. There is a scene in the third episode where the Doctor just wants to press ahead and get back to the TARDIS, while Ian, Barbara and Susan want to help the caveman who has been injured, (despite their own worries, etc.) Susan has this brilliant line where, (and I'm summarizing), she says, "Oh, he gets like that when he doesn't get his way." As the Doctor is standing off to the side, arms crossed, with the most childish expression on his face. And I couldn't help but laugh my ass off, because the Doctor really is this huge, pouting, "why can't people see what I'm getting at?" dork and apparently always has been. ;)
no subject
Yeah, basically everything you said. :)
The long hallway shot from TEOTW? Still one of my all-time favorites. It seriously gives me chills.
I LOVE that shot. I seriously wanted to smooch whoever set that up the first time I watched it.

I've completely adopted your stance on this episode. She made her choice to do anything she could to get back to The Doctor even at the cost of her life. Just to help him out.
Word!
Love the pics that you picked to show the transition from "Not my Doctor" to "Yep my dorky Doctor" for Rose. :D
Not only was I brokenhearted for The Doctor but also for Rose in that scene. Great way of putting Rose's reaction in that scene. *sniffle*
Oh and the AoG and DD pics. I was seriously contemplating just skipping that part. But I went through it and was happy to see that added pic at the end.
Like you mentioned earlier Rose never backed down from her beliefs and didn't want to be send away, even if he thought she would be safe. She wanted to make her own choices and she did... but the universe is just cruel.
Thanks for the lovely Rosepicspam!!!

Well, and everything about it seemed to final. Even telling Mickey "there's nothing for me here," which was harsh for Mickey, and I don't think really meant to be taken as "I'm ditching all you losers," but rather that Rose's world was really now the Doctor's world. And if she ended up dying there, so be it, since that's where she belonged.
Love the pics that you picked to show the transition from "Not my Doctor" to "Yep my dorky Doctor" for Rose. :D

Now let's see if I can pick out a few of important bits of this fantastic picspam.
Nah, definitely never Miss Perfect Heroine. Rose freezes in horror.
Got to agree with a couple other people already saying it, but I've never entirely seen it as horror. Partly, but also kind of captivated for various reasons. However, of more important note, she doesn't scream, companions always scream at everything, but I can only remember Rose doing it a couple times; she's more shouty, more like the Doctor.
I am going to follow your example and not go into the hug of being alive after being chased by a werewolf somehow being awful. Don't get it either...moving on.
And Rose takes off, not caring if the Doctor comes along or not. Even though there was this whole relationship thing developing, I never saw Rose losing her independence. The Doctor on the other hand...
Rose: I. Own. You.
Doctor: \o/
Pretty much, yeah. Another point I don't get being that Rose was less assertive with Ten than Nine. I guess I see it as season one Rose argued, season two Rose *did*. Now, maybe on occasion she should have listened to the Doctor saying things would end badly by trying to go see her alt-family, but in the end it didn't take much reason for him to give in to her "You know you're going to say yes" eyes.
Rose: I'm not laughing *at* you in the fact that my mother's in the TARDIS, I'm laughing with you. Okay, I'm not. It's at you. Bwahahahahaha!
I love that moment. She doesn't want Jackie on board all that much more than he does but I think she does still get some humor out of the Doctor's discomfort. It all "Um, Doctor you took off without a thought to the fact that you might be bringing my mother along. Not bright and you are going to pay for it from both of us."
Glad you ended it on a fun note rather than...well Doomsday.
no subject
I think that's really it. On the surface she's this young, common shopgirl. But start scratching the surface...
However, of more important note, she doesn't scream, companions always scream at everything, but I can only remember Rose doing it a couple times; she's more shouty, more like the Doctor.
Very true. Rose just was never a screamer.
Pretty much, yeah. Another point I don't get being that Rose was less assertive with Ten than Nine. I guess I see it as season one Rose argued, season two Rose *did*.
Good point. Also, there were just less *situations* in S2 for big disagreements to come up, like in The Unquiet Dead or Father's Day. Rose definitely did not turn into some sort of meek kitten in S2. She pushed the Doctor on the "is that what you're going to do to me" thing, she took off in the AU, she ignored the Doctor and did her own thing in Idiot's Lantern, she stood her ground with the Doctor in Doomsday... I'm sure there are more examples. And this doesn't even cover the non-Doctor-related assertiveness in S2.
Now, maybe on occasion she should have listened to the Doctor saying things would end badly by trying to go see her alt-family, but in the end it didn't take much reason for him to give in to her "You know you're going to say yes" eyes.
Oh, Rose definitely did not become this perfect always-right person either. There *were* a couple of times she should have listened to him - I'd be surprised if it were otherwise. One of her traits is that she can be rather stubborn, which reminds me of the Doctor. But you're right - where before the Doctor was just *adamant* about not seeing the AU family, Rose totally pushed over the Doctor in that scene by just a look. Heh.
I love that moment. She doesn't want Jackie on board all that much more than he does but I think she does still get some humor out of the Doctor's discomfort. It all "Um, Doctor you took off without a thought to the fact that you might be bringing my mother along. Not bright and you are going to pay for it from both of us."
Yup. I think she's just always really, REALLY amused by how much her mother sets him off.
Glad you ended it on a fun note rather than...well Doomsday.
Couldn't help it! :)

Oh I loved the way they introduced her! People are always rolling out of bed awake and ready to go (with the makeup to prove just how ready they are) and it always annoys me when I'm watching a movie or show. Cause I for one do NOT wake up like that.

Exactly! And then I continued to love her cute, but very ordinary clothes, as well as the fact that sometimes she looked more put-together, and sometimes it wasn't quite pulled of. Really helped sell the "reality" of her to me.

I don't think I'd ever seen that Long Game cap. It's so pretty!
Even though there was this whole relationship thing developing, I never saw Rose losing her independence.
I think this is a tricky line to draw. Because on one hand, Rose's life is becoming so completely intwined with the Doctor's. In a way, there is very little of the one without the other. I have never read or seen a fic or vid about JUST Rose in S2. But I don't think this is damaging. (Maybe it just shows fandom's lack of interest in Rose by herself) Because the Doctor was just as intwined as seen in S3, when he's been FORCED to be independent and a part of him is missing.

I can never leave it on Doomsday. Never. :D
I don't think I'd ever seen that Long Game cap. It's so pretty!
Oh, the one where they're outside the TARDIS? I love that whole scene.
This is very true. Rose and the Doctor *were* incredibly connected, especially in S2. They practically had a hive-mind at times. And they were becoming very "couple-ish" as well as just really loving being with each other a LOT. They even changed each other, I think for the better. That's just natural relationship stuff. But throughout, I always saw Rose as continuing to stand her ground and making her own decisions when it came to important things, like her own life. Which I know is sometimes a complaint of female characters in a relationship. Oh, right. I've babbled about this in general before:

But yeah, the Doctor was just as much connected as Rose. Maybe even more than Rose, since she still had her family and planet around, where the Doctor had lost everything. And I think he really came to rely on her being that "human" part of this team they had going - to be the one that cares about the personal stuff while he could happily be off in "the big picture."

There are like seven lines I want to quote, but I'm supposed to be convincing freshmen to live in my co-op, so I'd better get back to that. :P But I DID love "Oh, is that Satan?"
<3! YOU ROCK! Maybe I should get back to writing fanfiction. I really let the meanness of the Rest of Fandom get to me, and I forgot all of the incomparable things about Doctor Who ... especially S1 Doctor Who.

*snickers*
The moment you started this picspam with Rose's bed hair, I knew we were going to be in agreement about everything.
I simply LOVE that that was the very first image of Rose we got.
And this was such a FANTASTIC homage to everything that was great about Rose. She is one of the finest characters in all of television. *adores*
:)

Mwah. Glad you liked it!

You really should get back to it - ignore the other stuff. Fandom crap is a complete creativity killer.

I <3 Rose. It didn't take long for her to become my favorite female character of all time. She isn't perfect. She messes up. She was lovely. And I adore her.
*adds to memories*

Yeah, she *definitely* ranks right up there for me. I think a lot of it was that she *wasn't* perfect. She was...ordinary with extraordinary underneath, and yet was still flawed. And damned if that isn't massively interesting to me.

This ranks up there as one of the best character intros EVER, in my book. This person groggily gets out of bed with actual bad hair! In this overly-sanitized Hollywood world, how often do you see that in a main (and woman) character? Actually, I've had an extreme fondness for Rose's hit-and-miss hair in S1 and S2.
i know! It's like "woah, a real person!" Very unusual for tv, but very good.
awesome picspam dudette! :D
