"There's no place like... I wanna be a witch!"

So I'm on this online TV survey panel thing, and this was a "description of the new TV show that is scheduled to air on SCI FI." And, well, it had to be MSTied...

A tornado rips DG from her humdrum life in the Midwest and dumps her in The O.Z. (Outer Zone),
Damn. This is gonna be HIP, isn't it? DG instead of Dorothy Gale? The O.Z. aka Outer Zone instead of just Oz? Word.

a magical world tormented by the sorceress Azkadellia.
Oh, well that's just a Scrabble hand, that is.

Aided by her Longcoat henchmen,
Who oddly enough run around in windbreakers...

the witch has seized power from her own mother, the rightful queen, and imprisoned the powerful, heroic Mystic Man.
    I call Queen/Mystic Man ship!!

Azkadellia’s burning ambition is to find the Emerald of the Eclipse and bring everlasting darkness to the O.Z.
What, the Republican Party platform? Ah, so this will be a political allegory, eh?

Her problem is that clues to the emerald’s location are buried deep in DG’s memories.
Why must there be clues instead of a clue? Like...it's behind the water heater in Steve the Munchkin's basement. As John Crichton would say, you gotta be kidding.

Following a tarnished yellow brick road,
    WE IZ HIP!!! THE O.Z.!!!

DG collects three loyal companions to aid her quest. Glitch has lost his brain in Azkadellia's torture chamber.
Oh, I get it. They're hoping to draw in the zombie fan crowd.

Wyatt Cain is a heartbroken ex-cop.
    Um...yeah.

The fearful Raw is a half-human oracle used and discarded by the sorceress.
    Who also has +5 conjuring...

DG realizes that only she can halt the evil master plan. A visit with the Mystic Man, imprisonment in Azkadellia’s tower and a daring escape on the road deliver startling revelations about a bewitched land that’s no place like home.
Anyone want to put down money now that she's in a coma and it's all in her head?

Did they not watch 200? Where Martin Lloyd told Vala Mal Doran that she couldn't remake The Wizard of Oz?

Sheesh.

Might be good if it's....no, it's not going to be good.

That was funny. :D

"That's the Wizard of Oz."

"Oh, you've seen that one?"

"Uh...yeah."

Might be good if it's....no, it's not going to be good.

I know - there's that tiny part of me that thinks, "well, maybe..." But no. No, it just won't be good. Something with "The O.Z." cannot be good.

"D.G"? "Raw"? "Wyatt Cain a heartbroken ex-cop"? Um. AHAHAHAHA! Ahah..hah..hee.

You know, it's possible to do the OZ books all dark and gritty (Y HALO THAR Return to Oz</>!) but that's just trying too hard, guys.

How could someone pitch that with a straight face? How?

Most definitely. :D

WE IZ HIP!!! THE O.Z.!!!

Keepin' it realz, yo.

Seriously, this crack had better make it to TV just for the laughs.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it definitely has Robin Hood-type potential. :D

Sometimes I wonder if Skiffy even reads the proposals that land on their desks for television shows. XD

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah. Takes too much time.

*stands hand over heart as the Final Fantasy theme plays*

=P

Sorry, but it not only reads like Wizard of Oz, but also like one of the early Final Fantasy games. *Grin*

It probably IS - they just figured no one would notice they ripped it off! :D

... you know, I'd heard that people were looking forward to this.

I'm no longer certain of those people's sanity.

I wish I could just pretend this is a bad blurb, but if those are the facts of it...

I may just wash my hands of skiffy altogether.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-02 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Um...yeah. This just sounds so sucky.

I really thought I was the only one who used "MST" as a verb. I just love you. :P

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-02 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
MST's a verb and a philosophy, in my book. :D

[identity profile] besyd.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
I almost snorted a grape through my nose reading this.

I'm. Speechless.

And yet, I'll probably watch it.

[wanders away singing If I only had a TIVO ...]

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
That sound very very painful! I guess both the grape and the watching of the show. :D
