Not sure what it is, but I keep wavering between "hmph," "woe," and "RAWR, DAMMIT" today. Before work - fine. At work - rage. Hmm. Correlation?

Ooooh. You ever have someone randomly tell you, "Smile!"? My response right now would be "I WILL CUT YOU!" (Any other time it would simply be, "Heh heh. *puts person on mental shit list for all of time*," because telling someone to smile is just SO incredibly rude.)

And due to discussion with [livejournal.com profile] manticoran, I decided that instead of wanting a cat, I really need a grandcat. One I can pet and drive into a frenzy, and then send home. I don't remember who it was on my flist, but recently someone posted about waking up to the sound of their cat puking on their bed. It was at that point I decided I would NEVER BE GETTING A CAT.

Heh. You and me both.

Of course, mine is more having-to-deal-with-the-school-system-RAWR but I'm with you.

*passes booze*

You know, I've had days at work where I had a headache and was grumpy as all get out... and then I got home and the headache mysteriously disappeared. Where previously the painkillers didn't touch it. Coincidence? I think not. Work is bad. *nods*

I really don't like it when people tell random strangers to smile. My usual reaction is to think, "I'll smile if I damn well want to. GRAR."

Your school system is *messed up.* I wouldn't trade my rawr for yours for the world.

OMG. Can I...can I steal that icon? *pleads*

Totally bad. Bah.

It's just so...RUDE. It really, really is.

Wise move (no getting cat) - they not only do that on beds, but under them in places you can't easily get to, as well as others that you step right into... I am biased though. I have never been a cat person but stupidly agreed to take care of then-boyfriend's cat while he was away at school. Three months later, I packed said-cat into travel carrier and took it back to him. Pets in general really are your small children - messy, must be fed & groomed, shots, all that... expensive too.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh heh. Yeah, there's always the expense. Actually, I've always been a dog person (having had dogs) but you can't leave a dog inside a house for 12 hours alone. Cats - no problem. Maybe I need fish.

[identity profile] tsukara.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno, I personally love my cat, and put up with her issues (and issues she has got; bad kidneys and a thyroid condtion, for a start) because I get cuddle-time and a heater-cat at night. She's a good old lady cat, and not too much of a bother at all. <3

[identity profile] ivydoor.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! Sure. Just credit [livejournal.com profile] airelin.

[identity profile] ivydoor.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. I know. This is the bull I've been dealing with for the past three years. It wasn't like this in elementary school. I loved his teacher back then. She rocked hardcore. But his current one is a total loss.

[identity profile] ivydoor.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are the types of cats to get. Older ones from a shelter that will appreciate a fluffy bed and lots of cuddles.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Cuddle-time would be the best thing about a kitty. Plus entertainment! I need a robot cat or something. :D

While I totally get random people telling you to cheer up, I'm going to defend owning a cat. I've been a life-long cat owner. My current cat is the light of my life (her birthday is tomorrow and no, she won't be having a party or getting presents. she'll be picked up and I'll say, "Happy Birthday, Allie." and that's that.)

I've also owned a dog in my life and to me, cats are it. They are low maintence. Fluffy. Knows when you need comfort, (seriously, when I'm upset or in pain, Allie will curl up next to me and purr).

I am a cat person without shame and can't comprehend why everyone else isn't.

(seriously, when I'm upset or in pain, Allie will curl up next to me and purr).

Oh...that right there has made me sniffle. Seriously.

(I'm telling you - hmph, woe, rage...)

[identity profile] misssara11.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I understand, which is why I didn't tell you to cheer up. We all need our time to be grumpy. And doesn't it just make you grumpier when people tell you to be otherwise?

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Just be glad you're not English, or you'd probably get your fair share of erstwhile clever people trying to sing Monty Python at you.

Having pets is definitely like having kids - dogs are like small children, and cats are like teenagers. Yes, I too have been woken by Ansel (the grey one) hairballing on the bed, but I wouldn't trade 'em in for a hamster or a fish, that's fo sho.

[identity profile] adele-t.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Whenever I'm told to smile (which is a lot 'cause apparently thinky face is much like miserable cow face) I say someone's just died, even if it's not true, just for the look on the muppet who told me to cheer up's face. Tis quality *nod*

*starts wanting a cat again*

Oh, that's CLASSIC. Might have to remember that one. :D

I am a great humanitarian, so I will not simply leave a comment that says: "SMILE!" even though I very much want to. *pats self on back*

(Also: cats are evil. *NODS*)

And I will not simply comment back with: I WILL CUT YOU! *also pats self*

(Also: cats are evil. *NODS*)

Cats ARE evil. However, are also cuddly. Sorta like Daleks.

Oh, dude. The smile thing is cause for IMMEDIATE DEATH. From above or below or whatever. Also, the only cat I ever had that yakked on the floor on a regular basis is the one I have now, because she bolts her food like a starving Belgian. The entertainment value is worth it, though.

I so want a robot cat!

(It's the litter box that gets me. I don't mind occasional cat yark--whatever, I've had cats and dogs all my life, a little barf is nothing--but the daily litter box thing, and the smell? No, thanks. Also, most of the cats I get seem to be the standoffish type, who only like to cuddle in winter, and only then during the coldest part. This could be because all our cats have been indoor/outdoor...)

Oh, dude. The smile thing is cause for IMMEDIATE DEATH. From above or below or whatever.

It hasn't happened to me in a while, but it seems like it's an older generation thing. Or maybe they know they can get away with it since slapping the crap out of an octogenarian is uncool.

Also, the only cat I ever had that yakked on the floor on a regular basis is the one I have now, because she bolts her food like a starving Belgian.

Silly kitty. And I have never heard that phrase before. :D (Of course, I'd never heard the "burns like a thousand nuns" one before either.)

And suddenly I'm craving Belgian Waffles.

The entertainment value is worth it, though.

I'm thinking entertainment would be very high.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeeeeah. That too. The smell. I kinda think the smell would get to me.
