Someday AO3 will come up with a way to filter using exclusions instead of just inclusions. THAT WILL BE A GREAT DAY. Because Sherlock fics I'm not interested in include:
  • Benedict Cumberbatch RPF that's tagged as Sherlock for some reason. (Even if he goes and films Sherlock in the fic, it's not a Sherlock fic. At least not by my reasoning.)

  • The bazillion James Bond crossovers since everyone's decided that Q is Sherlock's baby brother.

  • Anything to do with Supernatural.

And some other things I'd probably add to the list. I need something like AO3 Savior! Searching just the John/Sherlock tag might help some, but I'm also interested in gen fics. And then there are fics like this that would still make it through:
Rose Tyler/Sam Winchester, Castiel/Dean Winchester, Sherlock Holmes/John Watson, The Doctor/River Song

That's like...everything I don't want rolled up in a ball! XD

What is up with the rising trend of people posting meta on AO3? I don't want to have to start wading through non-fic there! (Especially a meta on why Benedict Cumberbatch is hot. GOOD FREEKIN LAWD.)

  • On antibiotics for sinus infection. Whee.

  • At the doctor's office I read an old magazine (as you do) and humans' brains are getting smaller! :O

  • Headache from being on phone with insurance company. (Nothing dire - just about my policy.) Wishing for smaller brain now.

  • [livejournal.com profile] goldy_dollar is refusing to write me John/Sherlock wedding fic. (If someone told me a year ago I'd be asking for Sherlock Holmes/John Watson wedding fic... HAHAHAH. NO.) But! Imagine the crack! Weddings are hilarious! Drunken shenanigans! Someone objecting! Sherlock having to interact with people who are not John, resulting in him acting like a pissed-off wet cat! IT WOULD BE FUNNY.

Also, Canada appears to emitting beams of light. Might want to warn us about...HEY!

  • Man, I am in a HULK SMASH mood. Maybe I'll go kick some flowers. They have it coming.

  • Haven't watched the last 2 eps of Torchwood yet. This past week has been completely insane (the power outage wasn't even the worst of it) and I haven't found the energy to watch it yet.

  • I'm finding myself even more irked by a pairing. It started as indifference, but I'm quickly moving to wanting it removed from existence. Most likely partly from my HULK SMASH mood.

  • Work craptasticness. Only one day off this week. HULK SMASH.

  • Have to cancel lunch with a friend this week. To much happening at work.

  • *sighs*

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Today just SUCKED. I suppose it could have been worse - 6 hours without power isn't bad in the grand scheme of things. But it was still pretty miserable, mostly because it was so frickin hot. And the traffic was horrible because of all the stop lights out. (dead lights are 4 way stops, people!)

Now maybe I can have something to eat other than frozen bread and cheese slices. :D

My microwave exploded! D:

Okay, maybe not exploded in the sense of high-velocity flaming parts, but there was a sparking magnetron. It is no more. It is an ex-microwave.

  • I'm on my string cheese thing again. Every once in a while I'll curse the food industry for the crappy white cheese stick blobs they label as "string cheese." THERE OUGHTA BE A LAW. Okay, so this conversation is 5 years old, but it still stands. I found some honest-to-god string cheese in an Italian deli once, but it's about 100 miles away. Bah.

  • So here on the West Coast we finally finally have a live event in the same time zone. What does NBC do? TAPE DELAYS IT FOR 3 HOURS. That's right. While the rest of the world watches the opening ceremonies tonight, we'll be blacked out. No getting online to chat in real time things like "did you just see Celine Dion jump out of that paper moose???" My entire TV life has been tape delayed. I hate you, NBC.

  • I really need a third thing to rant about, so... Celery! Yeah. It sucks. But yet people seem compelled to put it in things like chicken salad and tuna salad for absolutely no good reason. MIND CONTROL! IT'S A PLOT!

It's official (or so the saying goes) - I am currently empty of words. Words that will produce any sort of fiction, that is.

And I still need someone to write a plot for my Signing Up sequel. Hmph.

And yet another night of about 4-1/2 hours of sleep, which makes it coming up on a week and a half now. First I was sick, then I was on meds and by the time I get off them to feel normal again (my brief bout of being hyper last week), we get 50-year record-breaking heat. Waking up 3 days in a row at 4:30 - 5 a.m. to feeling like you're being smothered - just icky.

Perpetually tired and cranky. Love it. There's a good chance I'll be doing a faceplant into the keyboard at work today.

You ever have those "through the roof cranky" moments/hours/days? That is me right at this moment. At nothing and everything.

So I woke up this morning, and no internet. A bit concerning, but every once in a while it has to reset or something. So I unplug and replug the modem, but still nothing. I don't know about you, but to me looking at a computer without internet access is, "well, what's the point of this?"

Okay. Breathing. It'll come back, right? Besides. I'm trying to avoid spoilers anyway. And at least I'll be able to watch BSG tonight.

*turns on TV*

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

*BREATHES*

Okay okay okay. Regroup. After I take a shower it'll be back.

OR NOT. THIS IS SOME KIND OF SICK JOKE, RIGHT??

Right. I need groceries anyway. And British-type stuff from the store that carries lots. I'll do that and if it's not on when I get back, I'll call. As I was leaving, I saw the big cable company truck out on the street and a guy up on a crane. I yelled that I loved him and offered to bear his children, but don't think he heard me with the windows closed.

Anyway, I didn't get a whole lot. Some kind of small frozen meat pie, some McVitie's Digestives, crumpets and marmalade. And [livejournal.com profile] ivydoor, I got some Starbucks Dark Chocolate Peppermint Mochas. Do I just put vodka in it and I'm done?

Oh, for the record Weetabix looks like Brillo pads. I did not buy. And barley-based non-alcoholic drinks? What's that about?
