Midori. I'd never tried it before. It's supposed to be melon-flavored. It smells like...gumballs. It tastes like...gumballs. I'm not really getting melon but just, you know, gumballs. Not that it's horrible, but I'm drinking vodka and gumballs. And playing Nancy Drew which is *massively* entertaining with a buzz. I haven't called Ned in ages, and I just don't plan to. Useless git. I mean, just so utterly useless! Nancy! What the hell?! The sex. Must be the sex.

*raises eyebrow* How much midori have you had already, young lady?

[identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I toast to you! :)

[identity profile] elly427.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, with peanut butter! Or some nice sourdough with butter! Or rasin bread toast with Cheez Whiz! Yum!

Damn it, now I'm hungry.

I had toast with cheese. Heh.

Midori and vodka? No hon, you need to be drinking Midori Sours.

Yes, Ned is a useless git. Also, apparently gay, as he and Nancy never once have sex during the books, despite the fact that she is 18 and regularly travels around the world far away from any adult supervision.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
*looks up Midori Sours*

I'm not too terribly wild about sweet and sour mix though (not sure if that's the typical Midori Sour, but that's the recipe I found).

And maybe Ned and Nancy *have* had sex but being a product of a 1930s generation, Nancy just doesn't talk about those things. It's all in code.

I tell you what you need to try - a Squashed Frog shot. Sounds disgusting, and looks pretty gross, but once you've been converted to them you'll never ever turn back. Nearly fill a shot glass with Midori, carefully put a few mls of Baileys on top and a few drops of grenadine. It's so good :)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, I think I will have to try them. And you drink it as a shot, right?

[identity profile] vegmb.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
lol, I had forgotten about those.

[identity profile] solielle.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It's...sort of melon-y. I mean, it has the same basic relation to honeydew that watermelon flavored liquor/candy has to watermelon. I prefer Midori Sours, because it keeps the Midori from overloading you with that honeydew gumball-ness.

And you're making me want to go Target and pick up computer games. The cute Sim/Adventure ones I always pick up and then put down because they have that "Ages 5+" bit on them. This is frustrating, as even Target does not open at 5:30 in the morning. *downloads stuff for the Sims to compenate*

Second Midori Sour mention. It sounds like I need to mix it with something rather than drink it straight or with flavorless vodka. I wasn't wild about it last night.

Have you been someone who's posted about Doctor Who Sims? There have been a few people on my flist that have it, and have made Doctor, Rose, etc. Sims, and for some reason it always cracks me up to read about it. Not too long ago someone posted about Nine and Ten being in love, but then Nine went off and slept with Rose. This pissed off Ten who hated Rose for it...until he slept with her too. I think it wound up with Nine and Ten back in love after being given a chess set or something.

I can't for the life of me remember who it was, but so amusing. And yet for some reason I never have the urge to get Sims for myself.

[identity profile] frenchroast.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Midiori isn't really meant to be consumed on its own unless you want something *really* sweet. It makes for a very good mixer, though. Midori jello shots are tasty too, though the green color doesn't mix so well with red watermelon or strawberry jello.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely going to have to mix it with something next time.

[identity profile] solielle.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Midori is much better as a mixer. Peach Schnapp's seems to be really popular ingredient.

I've made Doctor Who Sims, but I still want to tweak them a little because Rose doesn't look quite right, and the Doctor's face always turns out slightly too puffy (and I want to try and make a brown pinstripe suit, because the one or two that I've seen around are bad). I have elaborate plans for adventures involving Victorian era haunted houses and space stations full of dancing zombies, but I would have to actually build the lots for these crazy adventures to happen in. *is lazy*

Hee. Sims are hilarious, especially when you just let them run free. And create love triangles. Or decahedrons. I waver on recommending buying it, because it can sort of suck away your life. If you don't have a watch handy, you look up after playing and can be all, "WHOAH, where did that five hours go?" And also you sort of end up buying the game five times because of the expansion packs.

Hmmm. I think I might have some Peach Schnapps.

RATS.

Heh. I really don't need another shiny distraction in my life. Have enough of those as it is.

Forgive my complete lack of ignorance where alcohol is concerned, but what is midori? From my a guess it's a...green vodka? I only say green 'cause that's what midori means in Japanese. :P

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a melon-flavored liqueur and is very very green. And very very sweet.

*writes down* Midori = vodka gumballs. See, starting my college education a day early. :D

I tried installing the games on this computer, but it didn't seem to want to play them. :C But I wonder if I have any friends with the Sims...

The sex. Must be the sex.

That's what I always thought it was. 'Course, i never read the books as a kid...I was far too interesting in Searching for Dragons and the like.

It's important knowledge.

Stupid computer!

I think I read just about every one. And then after that I went on to Agatha Christie.

[identity profile] tsukara.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It's important knowledge.

For surviving the internets? Apparently. Actually, I've decided that the less partying I do, the more telly I can watch, and the more more I can read. Man, what a dork I am.

Yeah, my computer decided it was too good for Nancy Drew. *pfft*

I was never into mysteries. I may have to read at least one Agatha Christie book before next season of Doctor Who though. Any recommendations on which one?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
My favorite Agatha Christie books have always been the Tommy and Tuppence books. Sadly, there aren't that many of them.

I've never been much of a fan of Midori Sours but I've always liked Midori Melonballs. Have no idea what's in them. But the drink is very, very sweet and fruity.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
One recipe I found uses pinapple juice and one uses orange juice. I'll take either. :D

[identity profile] roseredathena.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Have you ever had amaretto/pineapple juice or amaretto/oj? Also tasty.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds yummy.
