You know, they could have an entire episode revolving around the Blue Suit of Doom and how it becomes shredded during a misunderstanding with a Killer Sponge. (Sometimes licking things is just rude, and Killer Sponges have teeth.)
And the brown should be in any sort of movie, unless the movie was about the above-referenced Killer Sponge.
And, of course, the brief nudity after the Killer Sponge (perhaps a Rutan?) shreds the BSoD.
*happy place*
Sorry, what was that? Anyway, I well understand why they want a second suit, but I'm really pulling for something in the charcoal grey, purple, or hunter green base. Assuming they don't just do a solid chocolate brown.
The worst part is that the suit isn't solid blue, but it's not as if you can actually see the maroon pinstripes onscreen. I think next time they'll be careful to screen-test whatever they're going with in a variety of lighting situations, 'cos Polaroids or whatever they 'tested' the BSoD with clearly didn't give them the information they needed.
The best I've ever seen them show up was under a very bright flash shot somebody took of the BSoD at the Exhibition in Cardiff.
Sometimes stuff which theoretically looks good just doesn't film well. There's a really neat brown-on-brown pinstripe suit that a clothier up the street from my work carries that I think would look fantabulous on DT, but given that its main distinction is textural - sateen on flat - it probably would just show up as solid brown.
I guess we'll see soon enough if they've stopped the madness; one presumes we'll eventually get to see publicity stills with any new getups. The thought occurs that they might avoid putting him in grey because that's what John Smith wore, but it's not as though Smith wore it all the time.
The blue/maroon stripes probably do show up better in real life. As it was, I had no idea that the red shoes were actually meant to match the suit. I just thought it was one of the Doctor's quirky things.
And I would think they'd avoid grey even if they hadn't put John Smith in it. Pretty much for the reason why they put John Smith in it.
If they did grey, I highly doubt it would be a plain grey, or heaven help us, a tweed.
Positing in another post somewhere (probably doctorwho), when people were discussing replacements for the BSoD, we did discuss grey with either plum or hunter green stripes (not that I have the faintest what that might look like without some playing around in Photoshop. Hmm, there's a thought). The other possibility I mentioned - albeit jokingly - would be either charcoal or black with white pinstripes. Which would make Ten a two-tone! Hee!
That was, apparently (according to the cosplay comm) why the Chucks he wore with that suit are a slightly darker red than the commercial shoes: to match the pinstripes.
No, they're not darker. They're not the red Chucks, which everyone seems to think they are. They are the maroon Chucks, which are a standard color. They're less fire-engine red and more of a claret.
Oh, really? Huh, that's cool. The general impression seemed to be that the shoes were custom dyed, but it's nice to know that maroon is a standard color. *eyes Ebay*
It's possible that it may not have been a standard color at the time Series 3 started airing, and it may not be a color that many stores carry, but it's available straight from Converse easily enough. You can buy directly from them.
Ooh, yeah. Possibly when the guards hauled her past the clothes pile the Master had kicked into a corner. "Scooby Doo? I walked the world for a dude who wears Scooby Doo underwear?? You know, that pediatrician *was* pretty hot..."

Either that or he's switched to something lifeless like those weird beige things Carlisle wore in Blackpool.

I wonder what they'd put him in for a movie? (Yes, that's a hint to go see my latest entry)

I've conjectured previously that the weird getup in 42 was meant to bring out the pinstripes, but it did not work for squat.

They'd be blue for mourning. Like the Blue Suit of Doom.
Going with the Disney theme for the minute, why not Eeyore Underoos? The poor bloke has certainly been emo enough to be Eeyore this past season.
