*twiddles thumbs*

Free day! I'm out of diet coke, so there'll probably be a run to the store soon. Otherwise, I have no great desire to go shopping for anything.

So I'm pondering either watching some classic Who or catching up with Robin Hood. Although, I gotta say, knowing that Marian dies at the end? You know what? I'm *really* no longer interested in watching this show. And I'm not even a huge Marian fangirl or even shipped her with anyone. But you know that Robin will be full of angst and woe in S3, and I have no desire to see that. None. Sorry, but Doctor Who has already claimed the small part of my brain (and then some) that's willing to watch that "deep drama," so I've got nothing left. Angst and pain=important while happiness=silly, don't you know? Pffffffft.

*gets off on a tangent* Man, I'm glad Rose is coming back to Doctor Who. It really can't happen soon enough. I am sick to death of angst and woe on this show. And now I almost forgive TPTB for all the Rose references in S3, which seemed cruel at the time, but was probably part of a master plan. The more I pick apart this show, the more I can see that a bigger story is always being told, and a Rose return makes *sense* within that story. I just hope it won't result in Doomsday Part 2. *sighs*

Hmm. I can't even talk about another show without getting back to Doctor Who. I probably should just line up a couple of classic ones then. :D

Or maybe I'll just play some games...

Hear, hear. Maybe RTD will make a New Year's Resolution to be nice to the fans, for once . . .

Here's hoping!

I d/l'ed the finale of Robin Hood but haven't watched yet. I kind of lost interest this season and really last season too as the story just seemed to always repeat. The Sheriff hatches a dastardedly plan, Guy tries to implement it, Robin and friends are caught briefly but with the help of Marian ultimately save the day. wash, rinse repeat. I think that is why Robin Hood works better as a movie then a series. But I heard a lot of people talking about the finale so I decided to check it out.

Robin Hood definitely wasn't one for original storytelling, that's for sure. :D But it kinda grew on me as cheesy fun. However, killing off Marian? That's...weird.

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
HOLY CRAP! I didn't actually read the spoilers. They kill her? WTF?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
YUP. I have no idea if the actress wanted off, or if they're pulling some sort of "all a dream" stunt, but it seemed pretty permanent. She got stabbed and they buried her. You know, even if it turns out to be some sort of dream, I think I might be done with the show anyway. I never expected great things from this show, but that's *really* cheap storytelling.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooops, I haven't even begun starting to watch it and I'm spoiled already. :)

How could they kill off Marian???

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! It's the next thing to killing off Robin Hood himself and expecting to go on. o_O

[identity profile] sensiblecat.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
They bumped off Maid Marion? Man, there is way too much grief and angst around on the BBC these days. I watched Billie Piper in the Philip Pullman thing last night and that was a three hankie weepie, too. Even her dog died!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm kinda done with the angst and woe right now. I've had my fill. Hell, I'm two seconds away from starting to watch kiddie cartoons full-time just to avoid it.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Pondering on watching Classic Who??? That's all I'm doing anymore. Right now I'm 73.646724% done with the entire series - averaging about 4-5 "stories" per week.

When I started I didn't think I'd ever get done with it but I think the end is in sight!

Go watch some Classic Who...

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
You bypassed me! I think I'm somewhere around 60%? Maybe it's more. Haven't counted in a while.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I created a spreadsheet so I could accurately keep track of it down to six places!!!

I know... That's just pitiful. But I don't have anything else better to do with my time!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I just did a nose count, and if you count the Movie as an episode, I'm up to 66%. Heh.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I did an individual episode count. That weighted to rather heavily towards the earlier seasons as there were more episodes per story in the beginning.

LIke I said - I have no life...

I tried watching some Classic Who with Tom Baker. I really really did try but I just couldn't do it. I kept thinking, God I can't believe that Ten used to be like that. lol

I'm going to be a bit optimistic this year and say 2008 will be a good year for d/r shippers.

See, I like angst, but I was always under the impression that Who was about hope. WHICH IS WHY I NEED ROSE BACK. I WANT MORE CUTE HUGS.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
DW about hope? HA! It's about pain and suffering and loneliness and grinding people's souls into a fine paste...

Hmm. I really AM in a bitchy mood at the moment. Maybe I need to start drinking early.

[identity profile] a-white-rain.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
RTD, WHEN YOUR MAIN CHARACTER CRIES FOR SOMEONE TO KILL HIM WITHOUT ANY MOTIVE BUT TO DIE AND THE END OF THE SERIES HAS HIM SOBBING OVER THE DEAD BODY OF HIS GREATEST ENEMY, THAT IS NOT HOPE.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
No. No it's not.

Yep I'm still upset and confused over the fact that they killed off Marion. It makes no sense for me. At this point there are no female leads in this series and don't know if I'll watch it completely next year. *Sighs*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-01 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm still boggling over this one. The actress must have wanted out.
