Storm 2008

The winds are picking up, but I saved $36 on groceries! The latter gives me great comfort in the former, as now my fridge is full and I might -- just might -- be able to ride this baby out! The $36 in savings was due to two things: 1) I am my mother's daughter, and 2) I had a LIST when hitting the grocery store. Provisions needed to be gathered, people!

However, it struck me while I was filling my basket that I'd planned to make a lasagna AND roast a chicken this weekend... NO MATTER! I will be fed and dry! And have food to last me through the eventual looting and rioting during the mass chaos. I wonder if I should hide some food. Of course they'd assume I'd do that. Right, the fridge is the last place looters would look for food! WOO! *hides jug of water in the shower*

BRING IT!

Good luck! I'm sure you'll do fabulously at fighting off the looters. You could try burning your food a bit, that might deter them.

Oooh. Yes! Fire! I could light the lasagna!

saving is awesome.
winds are no fun on the hair.

No, definitely not good for the hair.

I'm so pleased to see that your crack is not simply saved for Rose/Doctor. It is also applied to Bad Storms, Hoarding Food and Advantageous Looters.

I like to live a well-rounded existence.

lol. You are like my hero. There's an approaching windstorm in my area too. It's not a good sign when the wind hits the house causing the tv to shake.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
EEEP! That's pretty strong wind, right there.

[identity profile] goldy-dollar.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, now I'm starting to worry about you. DON'T DIE! Who else will help me keep my sanity? *CLINGS*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
It's okay! I have the raw materials to fashion a lasagna!

What if the roof of your house gets blown off? What will happen THEN?

My upstairs neighbor will be PISSED.

*lols* My god you Californians are weird! A little bit of wind and rain and you think you're living in New Orleans or something. XD

The power's gone out in some places in the city, but not at my house. And no looting, so far as I know. *g*

I've been out of touch for a week or so. Hope you survive the major hellstorm.

And if there's any lasagna left, I'd like a piece.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, I've got an inflatable bed I can use as a life raft...

*shoves lasagna through the intertubes*

I had to drive through that storm on the way home! You could barely see three feet in front of you. Lane divider lines were drowning under the water. Some crazy bastard was going 90mph! (Hey pal, we drive crazy in California, not stupid.) I hope it passes you without too much major damage. It's nasty. *gets you blankets and hot chocolate*

On the plus side, the storm had already passed where I live by the time I got home. On the downside, it took a lot of power lines and trees with it (though, again on the plus side, some of those power lines went to my work. FREE SLEEP IN DAY! WHOO!)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
YIKES! Glad you made it home okay! And got a sleep in day. :D

It started raining here last night and still hasn't stopped, although we're not really getting any wind, which is good. We're just wet right now.
