Get into me FASTER, coffee!! *sucks* At least it's Friday. But I'm heading into a semi-busy weekend - seeing a play tomorrow and doing parent birthday brunch on Sunday. (Rabid fangeek moment - my mom's name is Jackie and her birthday is today. For real. And if you immediately know this reference, you too are a fangeek.)

I didn't think it was possible to raise any more questions with this show, but they completely managed it last night. I still think this whole flash-forward thing they started doing in the finale is pretty slick. In past seasons we got everyone's stories through the flashbacks, but we've seen most everyone now. Where the flashbacks revealed things, the flash-forwards seem to be just raising more questions.

There was no big gasp moment at the end of this episode, but something that was pretty shocking to me was Hurley saying (in the future) that he should have gone with Jack. Which could imply that Charlie was wrong or maybe that Locke is just NUTS. Wonder if we'll be seeing more ghostly visits from Charlie. Oh, hang on a second...

YOU KILLED THE HOBBIT, YOU BASTARDS!!

Okay, back. Also, we know that only 6 people made it off the island, and we only know about Jack, Kate and Hurley yet. (Who everyone's now decided to call Hugo - I guess after the bet with Sawyer - it's weirding me out.)

And speaking of weirding me out - JACOB. OMG. I had to put the TV on mute a couple of times from being seriously freaked out. :D

I could waste a lot of time here:

I hope Sun is one of the Six, because hi, BABY. And during Jack's flash forward, they'd said something about "going back for the others", which implies that there are still people on the island that they left behind. But yeah, the whole thing is just TRIPPY.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Wasn't there something about Sun not being able to leave the island or she would die? Or was it if she stayed on the island? I can't quite remember.

But it's really weird about people staying there and no one's going back for them. And it seems they're keeping it a secret. WEIRD.

It's that pregnant women on the island die towards the beginning of the second trimester - Claire was an anomaly, and that's why they studied her. So, if she wants to live, she has to get off the island.

Yeah, the whole thing is just weird. There's just more questions. It's so AGGRAVATING.

Oh, that's right! Yeah, I hope she got off as well.

CHARLIE'S DEAD!!!!

*cough* I don't even watch the show anymore, and haven't for a couple of years. Still. Charlie. *sniff*

I know! He was the best one! *shakes fist*

Does your mum love a party too?

Actually, no. My mom's also blonde (but naturally blonde), but that's where the similarities end.

OOOOH.

THOSE BASTARDS KILLED MY HOBBIT!!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I KNOW! AND I STILL DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE HE IS!

YOU KILLED THE HOBBIT, YOU BASTARDS!!

Aww, they did?? That sucks. I think that I maybe saw all of S1, but I lost interest when it became clear that they were never going to show the big monster only Locke saw.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup, Charlie got killed at the end of last season, but he turned up in this episode as a ghost.

They finally did show the monster that Locke saw (it was this sort of cloud entity thing), but I still want to know what exactly it is!

[identity profile] nel-ani.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
They showed the monster??

*torn*

But I was also a little turned off how the "desert island" thing turned out to be less than desert...

Hey, did they explain the polar bear?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
The monster was a bit anti-climactic. Although you still don't know exactly what it is.

As far as the polar bear... Yeah, it's been pretty much explained. The island used to be a research station, where all sorts of different experiments had been going on - genetics, physics, even some psychological ones. Basically a big science-type place. And they had a polar bear or four.

Huh. That feels anti-climactic. Though I'm not sure what I was expecting. Alien polar bears! Polar bears invading!

Guh. Lost and I have such a weird relationship. I LOVE Series 1. Series 2 was a little strange, hated the first part of S3, liked the last part of S3 and S4 just sucked me back in all over again. These "flashforwards" are baller. I love not knowing what's going to happen next.

While I'm so sad that Charlie is dead, his death scene moved me so much...it just broke my heart. =(

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
They really did give him an excellent dramatic exit. It was big, but not overly melodramatic.

And I really hope they keep doing the flashforwards. I'm really liking them.

[identity profile] threerings.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, yeah, I'm still watching Lost, but feeling kinda silly for doing so. It's just SO over the top silly, while trying to be serious. I do like the flashforwards. After watching this ep, my husband and I discussed just quitting, but I said, "But then we'll never know what happens and I don't think I could take that."

It'd be like the X-files all over again, since I stopped watching that before the last two seasons. I don't want to watch it, but I'd still like to have seen what (didn't) happen.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-04 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
The flashforwards do feel fresh enough to me to make me really interested again. Last season I'd forget about it for a while, and then quick catch up by watching three episodes in a row, and so on. So far they're making me want to keep up with it each week again.

Although nothing will compare to the first season. Ever.
