Torchwood: The Bobby Flay Chronicles
Let's try this again. I've had sleep and am drinking coffee.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

- They turned Owen into a zombie. MWAH. Apparently one undead man on the team wasn't enough - now they've got two. Except Owen's actually very fragile now. Jack was right - if he gets hurt, he's gonna be in trouble since bones won't mend. I guess whatever that residual glove thing was is keeping him from completely decomposing.
Now that they've done this, I have to wonder WHY they've done it with this character. I guess like the title from last week, they've reset his character. Heh. Talk about retooling. But since sex is now out, we no longer have to be subjected to his ass! WOO! \o/ Um...can we turn Rhys into a zombie too? - I was a bit disappointed with Martha this week - not that she did anything bad. But after seeing her last week with the whole fast-forward awesome doctor thing (which realistically should have taken a few years from LotTL, but was compressed to one...even though I have no idea how it's even one year since LotTL), I was convinced that she'd have a pivotal role while Owen was out of commission - something that required those awesome doctor skills. But that didn't materialize. Actually, other than starting an autopsy at the beginning, there was really no time where she had to be in this episode. If you're going to go the the trouble of having a very special guest character, don't waste her! HMPH.
- Did anyone understand what happened when Jack blacked out and woke up in the Torchmobile at the hospital?
Director: [reads script] WHAT? Pink bunnies burst out of Jack's chest who beat off Death, and then they rush Martha to the hospital??
Writer: Great, isn't it?
Director: ... FADE TO BLACK! And...Jack will wake up at the hospital and have no idea how he got there!
Writer: WHAT? YOU CAN'T CUT THAT! THE BUNNIES ARE SYMBOLIC!!
Director: Why did I give up doing Jane Austin adaptations again? - Boy Death moves slowly, doesn't it? I'm thinking it could have killed dozens easily by the time they evacuated the hospital. It's not like it had to be stealthy for any reason. And why didn't it just kill everyone at Torchwood first??
Okay, it's Torchwood. Ignore the plot holes and look at the pretty.
...
Right. These people aren't pretty enough to distract from the plot holes. Jack can only go so far. Damn, they really needed a basket of kittens. - To sum up: WHAT?

ACK!
BUNNIES???
LOLOLOL!!!
TORCHWOOD CRACK!
Bunnies would have made about as much sense there.

I have no freakin' idea. Except... maybe Death hitched a ride in Jack, and once Death had left for green pastures (i.e. the hospital) Jack came back to life?
(Hey, if the TW writers are allowed to be cracktastic and make things up, so am I)

THAT HAPPENED.
The writer wants to be like RTD when he grows up.

MWAH.

HEH. It's actually the same guy who wrote The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit. Something got lost in translation this time around, though.

The whole episode was made of crack, most of it made little to know sense, and yet...yet I still enjoyed it. I don't know what's wrong with me.

And I'd really like to know what it is about Torchwood that makes us all keep watching. :D

I was expecting Weevil!Owen too. Just goes to show that you *really* can't believe "spoilers" for anything.
My biggest impression of Martha in this episode was screaming and everyone else having to save her from the glove. I was glad the omgz she is the bestest was absent though. I like her better on TW then on DW, but she doesn't really add that much to me.
Well, last week she did for me, but this week...

I'd really like to know what the writers are on so I can stay far, far away from it.

The BBC really should pay him better expenses, this crack is doing his head no good at all.

"Hm, well, we have Death, and he's pretty well occupied at the moment... LET'S TAKE HIM TO A FEEDING GROUND!"
And I don't know why it was such a big deal that they're at a hospital at all, because it seems that Death is pretty good at killing people, and doesn't need to prey on the weak. Maybe a confidence-booster after Jack? More likely, though, it's a plot device for next week.

Or maybe Jack hit on Death. *wiggles eyebrows*
"Hm, well, we have Death, and he's pretty well occupied at the moment... LET'S TAKE HIM TO A FEEDING GROUND!"
So the idea was that Death hitched a ride in Jack? Hmm. Okay. That is probably what they were trying to do there.

Yeah, probably. :D

I'd say this was probably the lowpoint of the eps so far.
As for Martha... meh. *shrug* I'm curious as to why so many (not you... but others) were expecting her to come in and be the save-the-day type because she was a guest star. That would smack of huge Mary Sue-ism. Martha is fit into Torchwood, not the other way around.
And with a cast of five leads already - I'm not surprised her roll is smaller. It can't be as large as it was in Who.

Okay, slightly wordy reply, but really that was my only issue, that she didn't slap the shit out of him afterwards.
TW is crack and I wouldn't expect anything less! OH and the HOCKEY STICK! Awesomeness. Jack's face was a picture. And then the whole farting incident in the cell, bloody hilarious (though disgusting).

Yeah, no kidding. Even in death he's a jerk. :D Tosh deserves better.

I totally cracked up at the hockey stick! :D But at least Ianto went to get *something* to battle the claw instead of standing around staring at it! :D

The best was Jack's reaction to that.

TPTB realise that people didn't like Martha when she was pining over the Doctor so they're giving her a chance to show how awesome she can be when she's being herself (and not a lovesick teenager).
I didn't like her at all during DW S3 but I loved her during Reset. I also thought she was okay (if not outstanding) during last night's episode. So the character reset has worked for me.
(also, if they're having Martha and Rose meet, they obviously need a Martha who doesn't fancy the Doctor and is not bitter over his continued attachment to Rose-so another reason to sort out Martha's character!)
So, other than Martha, last night's episode was a bit WTF??? I'm still processing it, I think!
no subject
And this episode needs a bit of processing. :D

He died when death touched him. They put his body in the van when they took Martha, cuz the know they'd need him. He resurrected in the van by the time they got there.
