(no subject)

  1. I went out last night, so haven't watched the latest Torchwood yet.

  2. Basically because when I got home I watched Project Runway instead. I kinda wanted Chris to win, just because he's interesting to me, where Rami is apparently technically superior according to the judges (fine, I'll believe them), but his stuff is usually pretty boring to me. What I knew would annoy me to no end no matter who won, was the fact that one of these guys took five months out of their lives to create 12 outfits, 9 of which will now never be seen. It seems really...icky. I don't have another word for it. If they were that deadlocked between the two, they should have instead given them 4 days or a week or whatever, let them use the other two, and come up with 2 outfits and decide right then. Not send them both away to create an entire collection. What a waste.

  3. I've said it before, but I really think I'm going to try and avoid DW S4 spoilers from here on out. And that includes speculation posts.

    • Donna is the S4 companion. (It was tough ferreting that out.)

    • Existing characters that will be returning sometime during it: Martha, Jack, Rose, Mickey, Jackie, Sarah Jane.

    • There's an Agatha Christie episode that I'm looking forward to since I read so many of her novels as a kid. The only details I know are giant wasps.

    • The guy who played Five's real life daughter will be in an episode that will "profoundly change the Doctor." Speculation has run rampant on this one - lots of "she'll be the Doctor's daughter through DNA extraction." Basically it's all speculation at this point yet, and I'm tired of speculating about it.

    • Pompeii goes boom.

    • Another Doctor-lite episode which appears to feature Donna and Rose. But that assumption is really only based on set reports.

That's pretty much it, and I think that's more than enough. Really, I couldn't be happier to see Rose and Mickey and Jackie again, so I think I'll just leave it at that. And let the show itself make me bounce or break my heart.

Well, I'll try at least. Seriously. Time to get out the Spoiler Cave.

  4. ETA: There is ONE exception to my no new spoiler rule: pics of DT and BP on the set together. That I would totally look at. It'd be impossible not to. The rest of it though? *waves away*

I'll be interested to hear your take on Torchwood. As for spoilers and speculation, I really wish I would stop reading any of it. Speculation simply hurts because it's always easier to believe the bad stuff is what's going to happen. (I thank Joss and BtVS for that experience. Otherwise known as, "the seasons that trashed my favorite characters.")

I'm just can't decide if it's better to be forewarned and therefore forearmed; or if speculation is simply self-injurious behavior.

[identity profile] tripocket.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh. I really need to proof read twice before hitting send. Sorry:(

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not exactly sure why I kept reading speculation for as long as I did. I went through this last year and the year before. And probably 1% of stuff out there manages to be right. Even the "Very True Spoilers OMG" that get posted on message boards.

*flashes back to the Toclafane supposedly being unused Time Lord incarnations*

Exactly. And especially in Chris's case, what he did show was so interesting that I'm really rather bummed I won't get to see it. I can only imagine how he must feel.

And do you allow company in the spoiler cave? 'Cause if I let myself pay attention to any more spoliers or speculation, my brain may explode.

[identity profile] fauxkaren.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
heh. As I said in my comment below, you can sitll see Chris's collection on bravotv.com because and Sweet P both still showed at Bryant Park. But um. Don't go there if y ou don't want to be tempted to look at the other designers collections too.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Has silly thought about your icon. Just re-watched "The Christmas Invasion" where the Doctor regrew his hand which was chopped off. So his body can regenerate a limb but the Time Lord power isn't strong enough to correct his vision. :)

Just one of those things you gloss over...

There's always room in the Spoiler Cave! And there's booze!

[identity profile] zinke.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Booze? Woot!

I'll bring the chocolate. Booze and chocolate have been proven to help keep insidious spoiler-viewing impulses at bay. *nods*

[identity profile] fauxkaren.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I loved yesterday's Torchwood, I can't wait to read your thoughts on it.

Also, for Project Runway, Chris and Sweet P both got to show at Bryant Park as decoys. If you're interested in seeing their collections, they're up on bravotv.com. Although don't go if you don't want to be tempted to look at the other designers collections which are also up there.

I'm too impatient and I've seen all of them. hahaha.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooooooh. I'm not sure if I want to wait until after I see it next week or look at it before. *twiddles thumbs*

I am glad that Chris did get to show off what he made.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I never go seeking spoilers. That why I was really surprised at the end of last week's Stargate: Atlantis. I hadn't read anything on-line and cause downloaded the episode I didn't even see the "coming next week". So I was unprepared for what came up at the end.

I love being surprised and avoid spoilers if I can...

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
They're really hard for me to resist a lot of times. I usually end up clicking on cuts for 1) shows I have a bare minimum interest in, or 2) shows I have LOTS of interest in and sooner or later have to get myself to stop.

Shows I already don't really want to read spoilers for are Lost and Torchwood.

[identity profile] queenrikki-hp.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)

Wow, he must be some good actor.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
He was the guy in Time Crash.

[identity profile] queenrikki-hp.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
There's a joke here that you're not getting.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, not getting it at all. :D

[identity profile] queenrikki-hp.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
*Warning* This is a very bad joke.

The guy who played Five's real life daughter

Now this phrase can be taken as you meant it or you can look at as talking about some guy playing Peter Davison's daughter.

BWAH!!
ext_146733: (Make it work!)

[identity profile] jakeish.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It's already been said that Chris still gets to show, so it's not a total waste - it's actually a great deal for those who get to the top four or five but not the finals, because they get the same amount of money (I believe) to make a collection and they still get to show at fashion week, which is really amazing. They just don't get the opportunity to win the prizes.

But anyway, I was really disappointed last night. :| Kind of surprised, too, because the judges seemed to have the most amount of positive and least amount of negative things to say about Chris's three, but whatever. I was disappointed in the art epsiode, too - I was expecting only Chris to get in, Rami's design was nothing new and I don't think it looked all that great. I do think he's a good designer, but overall he bores me.

I saw the five final collections a few weeks ago, and I really liked Chris's the most. Oh well.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm really glad to hear that Chris did get to show off his work. It was really annoying me at the thought of making him do all that for nothing.

And yeah. Rami - it's just dull to me. The judges keep calling it beautiful, but...MEH. I suppose from a fashion/technical standpoint it's good work. It's just really boring to me and everything from him always looks the same.

[identity profile] maypanic.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
What?! Donna is the S4 companion? No way!!! ;P

I actually clicked on the cut just to see if you knew more spoilers than I do. It's an addiction.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)

Yes way!! Totally wild, isn't it??? OMG.

HEH!

I think what's worse about the speculation is not when it's something that you don't want to see, but when it's something you do want to see. And then when it doesn't happen, it's disappointing. This happens rarely, fortunately, but every once in awhile I'll run across speculation that's really neat, convincing, and logical, and I end up hoping the showrunners will go that way. And then they don't. *pouts*

I definitely won't be able to resist DT & BP on-set spoiler pictures either, but how will we know that's what it is unless we're spoiling ourselves for everything else? ;-)

Oh, yes! That's totally true. Someone comes up with a fantabulous idea, but you KNOW it won't happen, and then get a bit miffed that it doesn't. I went through that a lot with SG-1, and there were a few times with DW's S3 as well.

I definitely won't be able to resist DT & BP on-set spoiler pictures either, but how will we know that's what it is unless we're spoiling ourselves for everything else? ;-)

Damn! We need someone to flag us down for this specific spoiler. :D

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, and as for Project Runway - I'm disappointed Chris didn't make it, too. I thought his stuff was much more original and interesting. Even if I'm with Tim on not being sure I could wear something with human hair on it. Ick. It looked cool, though, and that's what really counts in couture fashion, right?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't actually wear the hair stuff - even though it looked great - but it was really amusing to see people's reactions to it.

Hmm. Maybe I should go over to Bravo's site to see who I think should win now.

[identity profile] greenarpieshay.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I need to join you in the spoiler cave as I've gotten into a horrible habit on any cut that says S4 spoiler no matter what the content is. I think maybe the only one I won't resist will be any pics of DT and BP on set together. All other spoilers are now off limits to my prying eyes.

And you know I just had a thought: I know RTD swears that they don't read the ramblings of the fans online but do you sometimes wonder if they're the ones who feed us misinformation about what'll happen next season?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)

Welcome! I'm going to try to stay strong.

THEY TOTALLY DO. This is my firm belief. That way they get to throw in stuff like in Sound of Drums:

Martha: I totally thought the Master would turn out to be your brother!

Doctor: O_O

RTD: [cackles madly]

[identity profile] fiona-conn.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
*sniggers* XDDD

We complain, but we do loves us some RTD. *Grin*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
I know. :D I'll actually be a bit sad when he decides to hang up his Who hat.

[identity profile] greenarpieshay.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah I will too without a doubt be a bit sad when he's gone.
