To the Discovery Channel: Does anyone care about how sanding disks are made? No, really?

To [livejournal.com profile] beck_liz: BACK, VILE TEMPTRESS!!

Maybe that should be the first challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] s4hermitsunited: coming up with the most crackalicious random rumors about future series possible.

ZOMG! Did you hear? Hugo Weaving is totally going to be Eleven! XD

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Not any stranger than the rumors Eddie Izzard was going to be Ten, though.

*scratches head*

Clearly I shall have to give this further thought.

...

The first 2009 special will be a Bollywood musical featuring the return of the creator of the Daleks, Davros, to be played by Naveen Andrews.

I'd SO watch that.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Hell, I'd immediately buy the DVD of that.

In related news, it has been revealed that the Rani will be resurrected during the 2009 specials, to be played by Aishwarya Rai. No word yet on whether the Rani will make her debut during the Dalek-tastic opening special.

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Insurers have already begun to add the on-screen appearance of David Tennant and Aishwarya Rai together as an Act of Pretty. Damage caused by televisions that self-combust due to the presence of the two stars will not be covered under standard homeowners' policies.

Very wise.

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I swear. No spoilers. None. Just rumors and freaking out for beyond Series 2 of TW and Series 4 of DW.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Do I really want to know?

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Actually my father was a sanding disk maker so yeah I care.

I am so just kidding

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Pffffft!

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
To the Discovery Channel: Does anyone care about how sanding disks are made?

Not too long ago, The History Channel had "The History Of Jello."

I watched it. Yeah, no excuse for that one. I was doing other stuff but, yeah. History of Jello.

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, come on, there's always room for Jello! XD

Especially if it involves a mostly nekkid Doctor and Rose wrassling each other in a pit of it.

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Especially if it involves a mostly nekkid Doctor and Rose wrassling each other in a pit of it

I think I missed that section in the documentary.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
There are times I really miss my cable stations.

Then there are times I "don't" miss my cable stations...

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
As in an entire episode? I could see 5 minutes given on that one show on the Food Network that I never watch because mostly I never care about any of it. Unwrapped, I think it's called.

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
An entire episode from the discovery of the formula to how it was marketed, etc.

I had no idea that there was that much to know about Jello. It was like having Jello with the Doctor only THC isn't cute and there was no accent.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
HA! Well actually, if I saw a sign on the side of the road that said "Jello Factory Tour" I'd probably go for it. "Sanding Disk Factory Tour" I'd zoom on by. They're SANDING DISKS.

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Sanding Disk Factory Tour" I'd zoom on by. They're SANDING DISKS.

It'd serve you right if the Doctor and Rose had twins who grew up and their sole purpose and/or desire in life was to work in a sanding disk factory because they were conceived in one.

Oh...oh... I know! Their suprsekrit Time Lordy powers won't activate until they are exposed to sanding disks rotating at a specific frequency.

HAH!

Oooh and the TARDIS has to keep sanding disks on hand for when they regenerate. Yes!

ummm. Yeah. I've been working too hard.

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
WHAT? Given to the correct writer, this could be canon.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
The Discovery Channel has really gone downhill since it first started. I read an article talking about channels that don't show stuff like their original concept. He called it "channel drift". As a channel attempts to garner more viewers they start showing more shows that are "off the beaten path". Shows about sanding disks are in a deep forest, in a gully, and hidden in a deep, dark cave...

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
G4 went that way several years back, for some reason deciding to chase after a totally different demographic than the channel's original targets, but they've since come back to the original demo and padded out their schedule with apropos purchases from overseas, like Japanese game shows that would interest the average gamer.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
I still like quite a bit of stuff they have nowadays, but other stuff not so much. Like Dirty Jobs...erm, okay. Just really never have any desire to watch a guy get dirty.

The one that really blows my mind is WRESTLING on the Sci Fi Channel. Yeeeeaaaaah.

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Dirty Jobs..

I think it's a guy thing. My room mate loves that show and I just don't get it.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe it is. Like The Three Stooges or something.

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
"channel drift"

*coughscifichannelcough*
*coughMTVcough*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
I remember the good old days when MTV used to air music videos.

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I think that's when "M" stood for music and not moron.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Oh speaking of moron, I'd like to know why there's suddenly an explosion of "We are Rich Morons" shows. People as dumb as bricks with tons of money. Gives me warm fuzzies all over.

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
It's politcally incorrect to point out that poor people can be dumb but it's okay to point and laugh at the rich people who are stupid.

The thing is, why would you set yourself up for that?

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Because that's a fantastic reason when you're already richer than god.
