BWAH! I was totally amused at Team!Torchwood running around everywhere. It's over here! *run run run* No, over here! *run run run* This way! Not exactly sure why, but...HEH. Pretty fun team episode with everyone getting involved.
Gwen looked gorgeous with her hair and makeup like that.
Gwen/Jack Jack/Gwen...you know, even though there are logical and good reasons Gwen married Rhys (reasons she kept saying over and over) I can't help but feel like part of it was trying to run away from Jack. Which is probably pretty wise on her part. She really needs that outside grounding force in her life. I've always had the notion that Gwen would wind up just like everyone else on Torchwood - isolated with no life outside of it - and we were simply watching her downward slide. The slide that everyone else had gone through. But maybe if Rhys sticks, she'll have a chance of not completely losing herself to it.

Not that I'm really cheering for one way or the other. Torchwood's a bit like BSG for me, where I'm interested in the characters, but it doesn't much matter to me which way they turn - it's just entertaining watching the ride.
Jack/Ianto Ianto/Jack...really, could Ianto have been more adorable? And the conversation in the hub before getting interrupted by Owen. HEH. The only thing is that after watching this episode, I'm getting a very strong vibe of Ianto being totally in love while Jack just sees him as a fuckbuddy. I don't think it's just because he was mooning a bit over Gwen at the end, but...just really the vibe I get. I've not seen that kind of longing from Jack directed towards Ianto. Lust, yes, but not this. Not that I can remember. Maybe Jack simply will always long for what he can't have? Again, not that I'm really cheering for Jack and Ianto to be completely in OTP love, or want them to get no deeper than ripping each other's clothes off. Just making an observation. Oh, by the way, WE'VE YET TO SEE JACK'S CLOTHES BEING RIPPED OFF, THANKS! When we've seen Jack way more nude on Doctor Who, SOMETHING IS WRONG, PEOPLE! HMPH!
Jack was married? To one woman?? :D *squints at the woman* Do we know her? The photo seems a bit too old to be that person he knew from the 40s - Catherine or something? I now find this the most interesting thing of all of Torchwood. Please to be giving me details about this marriage. NOW PLEASE, YOU CHARACTER-INSIGHT-WITHHOLDING HOSEBEASTS! Ooooh. Maybe Jack is really Rose's great grandfather! *RUNS*
I wonder if Gwen changed her name. And if people will now change their LJ tags. Don't lie - you've wondered too.

I think this episode made me really realize that Jack/Ianto/Gwen is a relationship in the terms that it has the two main aspects, spread across two different characters. Ianto=flesh, Gwen=mind. It's like Jack can't settle down (anymore), but wants it all, so he just spreads it. And Ianto doesn't see jealous of Gwen and vice versa, but still... I don't want Ianto to be just 'flesh'.

That's an interesting take on it. And I'd rather Ianto not be just flesh either, simply because it seems like he isn't seeing it that way.

Jack isn't allowed to get naked in TW so he can keep his Doctor Who image clean. lol bbc

I get the weird vibe from Jack that Ianto may just be a fuck buddy too which I think is sad. I really want this "relationship" or whatever they have to be further explored because at this rate it's getting on my nerves. We're getting little bits and pieces but it's the same bits and pieces since series 1 and it's going nowhere. Maybe I just want Ianto to go all evil on everyone and have a little fun while doing it? Hmmm....

I don't think I'd mind it if I didn't get the vibe from Ianto that this relationship is *really* important to him. I'd rather not see him get hurt again.

This is what I think. I mean, I keep seeing people say things like, "OMG, Rhys is too good for Gwen," and I don't know, maybe he is. But the implication is that she doesn't love him, and that he's second best. I really don't think he is. Whatever feelings she may have for Jack, I think she recognizes absolutely that Rhys is the best man for her. Sometimes you just have to make the choice that's best for you, you know?

Oh, by the way, WE'VE YET TO SEE JACK'S CLOTHES BEING RIPPED OFF, THANKS! When we've seen Jack way more nude on Doctor Who, SOMETHING IS WRONG, PEOPLE! HMPH!

That could well be. Especially with the wedding photo. Maybe he tried the committed relationship thing once, and it wasn't his cup of tea.

I really wouldn't mind it if they both were casual about it - what I think it probably was in the beginning. But I'm afraid Ianto's going to want a lot more than Jack's going to be willing to give him. Poor guy.

Also very much liked this episode, and *loved* Gwen all beautified for her wedding.

I'm now wondering what we're going to do with our UST... what happens to UST when one gets married? Does it become AUST? Adulterous Unresolved Sexual Tension?!?

And I do feel sorry for Ianto, because Ianto is so made of awesome, though I think it is more than sex for Jack, because of that bit in episode 3 of this season, (sorry, I'm blanking on the name), their conversation just before that awesome Jack/Ianto snog. But perhaps Jack is just torn. Or maybe the Beeb is just doing it for the UST. Or the AUST. *whatever*

I'm so confused about Jack's non-linear timeline of life that I can't even begin to understand at what point he was married. Although the photo did look late US 19th century ::is baffled:: I don't try to understand these things in tw, it hurts my head.

Tell me about it. How old is he now? 150? It would work as far as timing, but I'd like details about it. Was he in really really in love? Was he bored and decided to give marriage a try? But maybe that's why he never married what's-her-name from the 40s or whatever, even though they were apparently really close - if he tried it once and it didn't turn out well. Or something. Who knows?

I did like Gwen too. And Ianto cracked me up with the wedding dress thing.

I really enjoyed TW last night. I really like Gwen even though I was near hate for a while last season. I think she has great chemistry with both Rhys and Jack, but I am rooting for Rhys because he loves her so completely and he is a good man without being boring.

When it comes to practical reasons, I really do think that Rhys is by FAR the best for Gwen. The heart doesn't always go along practical lines though.

I love Tosh, but can I admit that she is annoying me a bit lately?

I have no idea what they're doing with Tosh anymore. Not sure they know what they're doing with Tosh anymore.

Ianto has so grown on me this season. When he isn't trying to emote, he is great. Keep him snarky I say. LOL at Jack. What's with you? Ever since Owen ddied you're always agreeing with him

Ianto does a great straight-man with a side of snark thrown in. But I wish we could get a bit more than just a character trait.

I have a feeling that Rhys is going to get killed while poking his nose into some Torchwood business, and Gwen will fall upon (quite literally) Jack for comfort.

YES! For me as well. It's kind of watching a hamster running in it's wheel - entertaining for reasons you can't quite explain and in spite of the fact it never goes anywhere.

I wouldn't hold my breath for any sort of character insight though I do join you in your wish for it. I think introspection may be against the code of conduct at Torchwood.

This is how I felt about this episode; Ianto deserves more than that.

Everyone deserves more than that. I don't think either of them are really aware of the difference yet, so it would be interesting to see them addressing that sometime in the future.

I reallly think they need to give us some indication of what Ianto thinks about this. Really. Like, now, because some parts of fandom are starting to grudge on Jack for the whole thing and we don't wanna go there(again). They need to develop Ianto, period, because the tailor dad thing is the first personal detail we've got for him since Cyberwoman. Meanwhile, Owen gets three dedicated episodes(not that I'm complaining, as I prefer Owen, but share the love, writers!).

You'll get no argument from me. I don't think this can or should be something they keep in the background, and I'm ALL for more personal details about him. It'd be fantastic to finally see an Ianto-centered episode that showed him outside of Torchwood.

I'm kind of afraid we aren't going to get it, though, because Ianto is sort of a flat character type. He's the guy in the background who knows everything and always has the answer, along with a funny one-liner. It's sort of the point of the character. I suppose that can always change, though.

It's a shame, really.
