See, I remember a time when I didn't watch Doctor Who. But I cannot remember EVER not knowing what a Dalek is. I'm sure I've known about "EXTERMINATE" since I was tiny!
LOL at the story though. I want to know what happened to the poor Dalek now. And did Colin Baker rescue it? XD

Over here we're (well, most of "we") seriously clueless about the Doctor Who thing. I'd guess to say that most people over here are still clueless. Their loss!

Looks like they just gave it up. Bit of a letdown.
It's just kind of odd, because I'm entirely the wrong generation. Sure, my parents watched Who but not obsessively. I honestly have no clue how it was part of my life when the last episode was aired when I was a year old! XD
It's probably just part of the culture. Like not everyone has watched the original Star Trek, but some phrases have wormed their way into our language.
Well, there's an American Old School fan I know who was seriously shocked that people didn't know about Doctor Who. Apparently, we were all meant to be watching PBS at weird hours in the 70s and 80s. ;-)
LOL! Wookey Hole is near where I live! I assume they got it back and have a Dalek on display, which is now making me want to visit...which I never have thus far.
Yeay for DW, making me want to visit local landmarks.
I had heard of Daleks, and the TARDIS, and the Doctor, due to fandom osmosis and my uncle who's been a fan for longer than I've been alive, but I wasn't sure what any of them actually were. :-)
I think I might have recognized the TARDIS. I wouldn't have known what it was called, but I did see the opening credits of DW a time or two on PBS. And then immediately changed the channel because there had to be cartoons on somewhere.

And how much do I love that you all have Doctor Who exhibits? I wanna go to one.

But a Dalek on Glastonbury Tor exterminating hippies is a storyline I want to see in 2010. *nods*

BWAH. But hey, that's how it looks! :D
And aw, there used to be a time when I didn't know what a Dalek was, either. How times have changed. *g*
