I'm not sure who ordered the heat wave here this past weekend, but when you've gotta trek across Southern California in an un-air-conditioned car, it's miserable. I had water, but still think I had a bit of heat exhaustion by the time I was done driving - headache, sleepy, dehydrated. My mantra of "I don't really need A/C if it means spending over $1,000 to fix it" results in limited driving during the summer. Just didn't expect this in March.

So now do I have this right?
April 4: Series finale of Torchwood and season premiere of Battlestar Galactica.

April 5: Series premiere of Doctor Who.
Considering that just about everyone on my flist watches at least one of these, I'm going to be at "skip 200" every time I leave the computer for an hour, huh? :D

Yup, you have your dates right.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, there will probably be squee and angst explosions everywhere! I might need an umbrella. :D

[identity profile] measi.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm honestly not sure whether it's a good or bad thing that I'll be too busy to squee that weekend.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm. To be part of the insanity or to just look at the aftermath... It's a tossup. :D

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
But why would you be leaving your computer for more than an hour anyway? Aside from to actually watch the shows, of course! XD

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
HEH! Yeah, that weekend might be an internet-heavy weekend. :D

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
The concept of actually spending time without a screen in front of my face is a bit of an odd one, these days...

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, me too. :D Well, on weekends it's not like it is on weekdays. I can only take being on my home computer for so long.

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)

Yikes. I don't think I could take summer without A/C in my car. But then, we get really really humid here, and I don't think you all get as much, so maybe it's not as bad?

That seems to be the case, yes.

Considering that just about everyone on my flist watches at least one of these, I'm going to be at "skip 200" every time I leave the computer for an hour, huh?

You and me, both. We're going to be swamped. At least it's a weekend?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)

We don't get the humidity like other places, no. That's something that's nice. But where I live it'll be upper 90s and 100s for a good chunk of the summer. I tend to do things early in the morning or at night on the weekends, hibernating during the day.

That seems to be the case, yes.

So much to talk about!

Although I still have no idea why they did two new Torchwood episodes in one week and then skipped a week. Wuh? This is one of those British things, isn't it? Like driving on the other side of the road.

You and me, both. We're going to be swamped. At least it's a weekend?

Uh huh.

ICK. Poor you.

Well, the thing is? 2x12 is airing this week. On Friday. I think what it is is that BBC3 is a channel that not everyone gets? Whereas pretty much everyone gets BBC2. So what they actually did last week was have 2x10 & 2x11 "premiere" on BBC2, while BBC3 actually premiered 2x11 & 2x12. So this Friday, BBC2 is "premiering" 2x12.

No, it still doesn't make much sense, does it?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
ICK. Poor you.

I should just get a new car, but I don't want a car payment! :P

*gets dizzy*

[identity profile] makesometime.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah! But you do have the benefit that the shows air before you in time, rather than after, so you don't have to wait until the next day to see them! That's something I'm jealous of, I must say.

:)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, because it's on too late for you?

[identity profile] makesometime.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, no I've just re-read that and it sooo wasn't clear. I meant when I'm in the opposite situation to you and wanting American programmes, I have to wait until the next day as they air when I'm all tucked up in bed on this side of the pond :)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Gotcha.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I iz so ready for that weekend. My plans are very TV-centric. Well, they're always TV-centric. Just more so...

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I kinda think mine will be too. :D

EEK! Oh that just sounds horrible without any A/C. My ceiling fan has been on every day this past week so I know the feeling.

I hear there's a rumor of a possible cool-down but I don' remember when, how long and what difference it'll be. *crosses fingers and hopes for cooler temps really really soon*

Oh and your dates are correct!! Although I don't watch BSG I have heard about it returning that day. :)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)

BLEH. I like warm, just not HOT.

Supposedly tomorrow it's supposed to be back to normal.

[identity profile] bluewingedpixie.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Not from me. I'm slightly worried this double hitter might kill me.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's one thing about airing them back-to-back: if something big happens again at the end of this one, less time for people to spaz about it. :D

[identity profile] bluewingedpixie.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
True, although with spoilers and previews I've been like a headless chicken not knowing which fandom to turn to first. So any spaz is likely to be less concentrated, yes, but flying all over the place ;)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
BWAH!

[identity profile] diavestra.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude! You totally either need to get the AC fixed or buy a new car.

Also, there was no Jack/Ianto sex in the Torchwood I watched this weekend. Just pregnant Gwyn. Is BBCA two weeks behind or something??

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)

But...that involves money!

I think it might be.

[identity profile] diavestra.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Dammit! Not that Gwyn being pregnant with a human eating alien baby wasn't fun and all but still...Jack/Ianto sex!

And you say you're demure...

You people and your "heat waves" in March. PAH.

I'll try throwing some snow in your direction, but it probably won't go *quite* that far. I'll put some muscle into it, though!

I'm going to be at "skip 200" every time I leave the computer for an hour, huh? :D

Yup.

Actually, I'm going to be in just about the same boat, won't I? (Who am I kidding, though? I secretly LOVE when that happens!!)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)

I would kill for some snow right about now.

Yes I know! All three of them the same weekend! And I'm going to be away. So I'm not going to be able to watch any of them for days! It's going to take me a week to catch up.

I'm honestly not sure which premiere I'm more excited about: Doctor Who or BSG. I adore both of them...I guess Who has an edge since it has Tennant.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)

Aww, man!

I'm honestly not sure which premiere I'm more excited about: Doctor Who or BSG. I adore both of them...I guess Who has an edge since it has Tennant.

I'm thinking DW has an edge with me as well. Part of that is, though, that I barely remember what happened last on BSG. Feels like it's been years since we saw it.

[identity profile] chloris67.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you seen the 8 minute recap for BSG? It reminded me of a whole bunch of stuff that I had forgotten about.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
No! Is it on SciFi's site?

[identity profile] chloris67.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think so. I found it here. It's all three seasons done a wonderfully dry tone of voice.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I've not been watching Torchwood (sacrilege, I know), nor have I ever watched BSG, so that's me off the hook for Friday.

But Saturday? Yeah, my eyes are gonna be glued directly to the PC from probably 3.00 pm onwards (EST).

See, I think I'll probably be avoiding LJ for a good long while there, just so I don't fall into temptation over reading someone's review.

[identity profile] grbggrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
ugh. I could not live without AC in my car in cali. Especially since I have a bad feeling it's going to be a crazy hot summer this year. :-/

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope not. Last year was tolerable, but the year before was miserable. Practically 100 degree weather from May - October. I had A/C back then...

[identity profile] rjrog77.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 12:29 am (UTC)(link)

I'm not a fan of heatwaves but right now I think I'd prefer it to the cold cold weather we have here.

Today it snowed, then hailed, then snowed again (didn't settle, thank God), all in the space of a couple of hours.

It's supposed to be spring, dagnamit!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a toss-up for me between super hot and super cold. Although I think I prefer cold since I can usually warm up.

[identity profile] olga-keepout.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
The evil BBC did in on purpose with Torchwood finale to pump up the hype! It was like, "It's okay, Torchwood is on this week so that will make another Who-lite week easier to bear". And now it's, "OMG IT'S NOT OKAY! NOTHING'S ON! WANT!"

... It's kinda cheeky.

And staying away from f-list for the most part of Friday and Saturday evening will be HARD.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Darn them!! *shakes fist*
