Oh man.

Just had a horrible thought. More horrible than Arnold being our next governor.

Local stations might pre-empt Gilmore Girls tomorrow for race coverage.

This, of course, would be WRONG, dude!

Because ya know what? The results of this inanity will be the same if Joe Newsreader reads off new numbers every time another precinct reports in or not. I do not have to follow it minute by minute to give it stupidity *cough* I mean, validity. I can catch it on the ten o'clock news.

Does this show a severe lack of priorities? Hell no! The California recall election is exactly where it should be in my book. Behind an hour-long show of fictional characters.

Now before you yell at me for shirking my civic duty, I'm gonna vote. I always vote.

moohahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Thats so right

Thats where all elections should be!

And sometimes I wish i didnt *have* to vote!

Heh heh heh. Sad but true.

And sometimes I wish i didnt *have* to vote!

Most of the time I actually like to vote, nut that I am. Just this election is ridiculous, insane and...insane. And as nutty as it is, we're probably going to have Arnold Schwarzenegger as our next governor. A man with *zero* experience - just his celebrity status to get him the position. Unbelievable.

Heh. Sorry for the rant. *g*

[identity profile] yamadara.livejournal.com 2003-10-06 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Celebrity politicians. I think that's the wave of the future. No person with experience need apply. Just have a big checkbook and good soundbites. That's all voters care about anyway.

I know this doesn't help, but I'm really glad I don't live in your state.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2003-10-06 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)

Apparently. Just do not get why *anyone* would vote for him.

HA! You're right - it doesn't.

Probably because in the face of having to look up the issues and finding out where candidates stand, people rather just forget about it and pick somebody they recognize?

Ugh. Probably. :P

Not that I have the inclination to debate you on this, but IIRC, Arnold does have a rather impressive degree in economics, which IMHO is better than the typical degree in Law in this case where the economy of the state is the problem. I guess we'll see either way, but I won't miss Grey Davis at all.

Heh. Yeah. For me, debating politics ranks right up there with having my teeth drilled.

But he has no experience! And failed businesses! *g*

Well, like somebody said, the second Arnold gets elected there'll be a recall push for him - and so it'll keep going and going and meanwhile California's going to the dogs.

Wienerdogs? :) Ooooh! You should run if there's another recall election!

Good point. I am surprised that the Gov. and Lt. Gov. haven't made a big push for reforms since the recall was announced.

The whole damn country is watching this election. Even the people north of the 49th. :)

That would suck to pre-empt it. Would they show it another night?

I would think so - but I get together with my friends on Tuesdays. Wah!

Thank you, Michelle, for reminding me exactly why it is I should be grateful that I'm at *work* tonight and therefore not forced to endure any results from this farce instead of happy tv.

I am also pretending that None of This is Happening. Normally, I go and vote but wasn't able to do so today, due to bizarre work circumstances. This enables me to be even better at pretending that None of This is Happening.

None of This is Happening. It's all a Dream.

*sobs*

It's like Dallas. Everyone will wake up in the morning and discover that None of It Happened.

Really. At least, that's what *I'm* going to keep believing.

It's like Dallas. Everyone will wake up in the morning and discover that None of It Happened.

HA! Yes!

You know, if Ahnold does turn out to be a good governor, I'll step up and wave that flag. But dude. Not. Going. To. Happen.

[identity profile] diavestra.livejournal.com 2003-10-08 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
*sigh*

Yeah. I'm afraid you're right. What the hell was everyone thinking, anyway??? I mean, was his name the first one on the ballot or something?
