Spare me your space age technobabble, Attila the Hun!

  • Monday. Happens every 7 days for some reason. Hmph.

  • Personally, I really don't want Jenny to be the daughter of the Doctor and Rose for several reasons. One of which being that I can't imagine this ending well. Another is that insta-children just never work plot-wise, and so keep any badness away from my ship, thanks. And a few other reasons. That being said, whatever this turns out to be - genetic monkey business, Susan's mother, Romana's daughter, Rose's daughter, a goldfish's daughter - I'll have to roll with it. For I am a canon whore. (However, sometimes canon whoring involves acknowledging, but never speaking of something again. Like glowy!floaty!Doctor. Whoops.) (However however, if they manage to pull this all off into some semblance of good? I will give them their dues, eat a few words, beg forgiveness and so on.)

OMG. Extremely cracky thought. Someone followed the Doctor around back in S2, snagged the Doctor's DNA for whatever reason and thought they snagged Rose's DNA but...

Scientist: And here is your's and Rose Tyler's daughter.

    Doctor: ...!!!

Scientist: That's right. Here's a picture of her to prove it. [gives a picture of Jackie]

    Doctor: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

From being accidentally spoiled *grumbles* this is what I heard: (please highlight if interested.)I've heard that it was the Doctor's DNA that was being fussed with. As far as that spoiler said there was no mummy

I'd happily take this.

a goldfish's daughter

Is it strange that my first thought in reading this was "Woah! That could be cool..." And now my sick goldfish fascination has been outed. *g*

I agree with you - I'm more than a little twitchy about next weeks episode, and I don't see Jenny being the Doctor and Rose's daughter as a good idea. Way, way too complicated. And then there's the high potential of the return of extreme emo!Doctor, which would just be cruel (so of course, would be right up RTD's alley). And to a certain extent, I think it would damage the romantic aspect of their relationship - it's like reading the last pages of a book before you've read the middle 10 chapters.

Now your Jackie scenario, on the other hand, is crack of the most fabulous kind!

HA!

Way, way too complicated.

It does border on that, yeah. Plus everything you said. (Not sure about actually damaging their relationship though.)

I'm evil.

Not sure about actually damaging their relationship though

Damage is probably too strong a word, though I meant it more from our perspective as viewers as opposed to their actual relationship. It's be something of a let down, for me, to have missed all the potential fluffy-good-stuff and skip right to the TARDIS-rockin'-kid-makin' stuff.

Oh, I gotcha. I was thinking more internally. Something character-driven.

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2008-05-05 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
That… that is pure brilliance. I want to see it, if I'm honest.

Also, with you on the canon thing: it's so difficult to ignore canon!

Mwah!

(Semi-related, I'm amused that the vast majority of D/R shippers I've seen have a Do Not Want when it comes to a Rose mommy. HEH.)

Also, with you on the canon thing: it's so difficult to ignore canon!

Mostly I do like the canon. Half the fun is metaing/ficcing/whatever within the confines of canon - I see it as a challenge, especially when it comes to fic.

Hehe, we are clearly saner than we thought.

That said, Rose-as-mum definitely isn't my worst fear about the episode. I don't like the idea of any one specific character being a typical "mother", I'd rather she's some sort of weird amalgamation of genetially modified DNA. And Rose-mum would just cause poor Ten more grief, which he really doesn't need! But there are worse things they could do... *Hides from RTD*

I'm hoping for a regenerated Susan's Mother complete with a Susan reference...

But that probably won't be the case...

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe? They have been chucking in the classic series references this series. Although you'd gotta wonder about those Time Lord powers of the Doctor's. He said he felt like there was no one - the Master had to even go human to hide - so you'd think he could sense something if a relative survived the Time War.

In the words of the famous comic book artist, Frank Miller when questioned about something he had his superhero do that was impossible:

Listen Kid - COMIC BOOK

That means that anything is possible!

Is it really really wrong of me to LOVE THIS BEYOND ALL REASON?

No, seriously. It would make me far less pissed off than a variety of options I can actually see them taking. Mostly my making me laugh myself sick, but still.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
I think it'd be cracky and hysterical and would result the the Doctor curled up in a ball. :D

And if it helps any, most of the D/R shippers themselves I've seen really don't want Rose to be involved. Personally, I'm pulling for Doctor-only DNA monkey business.

Well, of course not. It's a whole new order of crack. Wanting to keep her clear of it is the only sane response.

Personally, I'm pulling for Doctor-only DNA monkey business.

I'm on board with this. Even if it's not as funny as the Jackie option. ;->

I'm totally unspoiled, but I suspect there probably won't be a "mother" at all. I keep telling myself that the actual episode will end up being nothing like the trailer. That's happened before, right? I mean, the previews for tLotTL totally made it seem like it would be a good episode!

Scientist: That's right. Here's a picture of her to prove it. [gives a picture of Jackie]

Doctor: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHAAHAHAHA. I'm thinking that would need years of therapy. The Time War? Pfft. Jackie the mother of his child? GET THE MEN IN WHITE COATS!

You know they're going to pull something. And trailers never look like the actual episodes. (Until we got the Doctor actually saying she was his daughter in the trailer, it wouldn't have surprised me if they pulled something like she's some other doctor's daughter. And then would have a big LOLZ-fest at fandom.)

Jackie the mother of his child?

See, when you phrase it like that, it makes it A MILLION TIMES WORSE. :D

[identity profile] lilrogue484.livejournal.com 2008-05-05 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with you on the fact that is she is the Doctor and Rose's daughter it can't be a good thing in the end. What I hope or maybe wishful thinking here will be since the whole planets disappearing or being destroyed and Rose trying to find the Doctor by some how messing up time and space all at the same time with out her even knowing.maybe it cause an effect on the Tradis since rose kinda did some how send a message to the Doctor in the Tradis but failed because he wasn't there, some how maybe the Tradis found a distress signal and it led to his daughter. I hope she thinks that Gallifrey still exist because it would be very intresting in weather the Doctor can tell his daughter that Gallifrey is gone in his time but cant because of the whole time rules.I can really see that as a possibility.

As for the whole Scientist: That's right. Here's a picture of her to prove it. [gives a picture of Jackie]

Doctor: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Donna and Martha: [back away slowly]

Priceless ^0^

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh, thinking out loud after you mentioned the TARDIS reacting. I'm now thinking it's really got nothing to do with Rose. Someone brought this up, but my mind didn't focus on it until now.

Remember the hand in a jar? It's a Doctor detector. It's suddenly gone nuts (we saw it bubbling away) and that's probably what the TARDIS is reacting to. And the reason it just went nuts? Probably she was just "born" (or really, just genetically created.) The Doctor detector went off, because it's him. If he was a perky blonde.

[identity profile] lilrogue484.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
oh I never really thought of that. Wow that could be true I didn't notice until you told me . I had to see that part again. Wow I can only wait until Sat. to see it.^0^

[identity profile] tsplash.livejournal.com 2008-05-05 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
i had been thinking of the Doctors kids for a bit, I mean couldn't it be one of his children from before the destruction of gallifrey.....(I don't really know doctors whole history).....Maybe she survived....or i dunno.....I joked to my sis about it being his a rose...but i don't think i'd want that either.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
One of his children could have survived, but it would leave them with a plot hole. (Of course, what else is new?) The Master had to hide in human form in order not to be detected. If another Time Lord survived, I think the Doctor would have sensed it. Like he said back in "Dalek," "I know. In here. [points to his head] Feels like there's no one."

[identity profile] tsplash.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
Thats true. But whats DW without a plot hole lol;)

[identity profile] maypanic.livejournal.com 2008-05-05 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
In real life she's the daughter of Five/Trillian.
There is absolutely nothing that RTD can possibly come up with to measure up to that magnificent lineage, and thus whatever proves to be canon will have to be a letdown.

I suspect either DNA tampering/grown in a lab, or he will be made to think she's his daughter but she isn't really. Completely baseless speculations.

Child of Doctor/Jackie... have I told you lately that I love you you are delightfully evil?

[identity profile] ivydoor.livejournal.com 2008-05-05 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)

And probably had Douglas Adams as her godfather. :D

I suspect either DNA tampering/grown in a lab, or he will be made to think she's his daughter but she isn't really. Completely baseless speculations.

That's really my notion as well. I have seen rumors, but they've all conflicted each other. HEH.

You have to practice the evil in order to keep it sharp. ;)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
I just have serious doubts that they could pull it off well, and so it results in a very big Do Not Want.

I vote for the hand grabbing their DNA, smushing it up and giving to the Master for, you guessed it, an ass baby. Like playdoh, but not.
