Pete Postlethwaite in shorts? This movie is for the ladies!

  • This week seemed to take forever for some reason. But yay for next week! I'm taking a few days off, and am thinking about a Disneyland trip somewhere in there. And maybe an aquarium visit. Or maybe... Hmm. Not sure yet. I've got many options living where I do, and the weather's supposed to be really nice.

  • I'm happy that Jack now knows Claire is his half-sister. I just kinda wish they'd figured it out back when he was on the island. (I didn't post about this episode last week, but is Claire dead? Since she's being all creepy-like in Jacob's shack? WOE.)

It's obviously all gearing up for next week's finale, where it looks like huge things are going to go down. We'll find out why only 6 people get off the island, why they're lying about what happened and so on. I just have to say, if they kill off Desmond, I'm going to be cranky. Don't keep killing off my favorite characters! *is still grumpy about the hobbit* (You know, the current trend of killing off characters (on any show) to be "dramatic" is getting a bit eye-rolling. But I guess you've gotta expect it when Hollywood loves to sheep after each other. Maybe in a couple of years every finale will end with...IRS audits.)

  • It's currently 99 at my place. I'm kinda glad to be at work right now...

  • I was looking at the rundown of summer movies, and there are actually quite a few that look good. Well..."good" as in "mindless but fun." Still not sure if I want to see Ironman in the theater or not. The superhero thing isn't really a draw for me.

Just saw Iron Man last night. It's hilarious.

There's always Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian if you're looking for something for this weekend...

Funny? Really? Intentionally funny or accidentally funny?

And the Narnia one looks pretty good.

Intentionally funny or accidentally funny?

Very much intentionally. I'm actually waiting at this point for someone to write a Tony-Stark-meets-the-Doctor crossover fic.

THAT WOULD BE AMAZING.

I loved that movie.

Oooooh. Might have to see that yet.

You and me both. Icky.

I'm sick of the heat already.

[identity profile] brilliantomega.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too. I was walking to the bus this morning and it's not ever 8am and I'm sweating a little in the heat. If that was as hot as it got, ok, but in the 80s at 8am?!?! *grumbles*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Tell me about it.

Oh, and to add insult to injury, last night when I got home and wanted to open up my windows to get some fresh air, apparently skunks were having a party out there. BLEH.

Ewww. The valley didn't cool down enough till the wee hours so I closed the hour and turned on the poor wall unit for a few hours.

So glad I'm going to the Northeast for two weeks. Knowing my luck it'll be beautiful here and rain there. When I get back - more blistering heat. Icky.

Hi, sorry to bug!

I know I don't ever comment on your page but I read your entry. I saw Iron Man and he was never really my fave super hero (even though I will admit to being a comic book fan) but I saw it and loved it. Also, my mom wanted a movie to watch (she barely understands English) so I told her, of everything out, to see Iron Man. The lady loved it, LOL! She's not a comic book fan at all but she said it was funny as hell. And I agree. Good stuff. Also currently crushing on Robert Downey Jr. But only in the Iron Man armor. Weird? Yeah.. >.>

I have been seeing some pretty good things about it on the flist, and it's nice to know that even if this guy isn't your favorite it's still great to watch.

Yeah, I might have to put this one on my list after all.

I do like that Lost kills off characters though. It really raises the stakes. Heroes on the other hand, kills off characters, but then brings them right back, so there is no real drama. I really do like the fact that Lost has the balls to kill of characters that are really popular. So if Desmond is in a dangerous situation, we really feel that it IS dangerous and he could die. We don't think, "oh he won't die! Everyone loves him!". Heroes is the opposite. If you haven't watched Heroes, I won't spoil it for you. But there isn't any real danger or tension because you don't believe that the producers will kill off certain character. With Lost, I fully believe that Darlton could kill off Sawyer, Desmond or Sayid, well-loved though they may be. They didn't shirk from killing off Boone or Charlie, so you feel that no one is safe. And, usually the deaths on Lost have some sort of purpose. Usually. LOL. Not always. Like Mr. Eko, wtf? But I guess it was showing the danger of the monster? Idk.

Okay, killing them and bringing them right back - much worse. It's a fairly cheap stunt as far as I'm concerned.

And I suppose it's a bit more realistic to have main characters killed, considering the danger they're all in. But they still better not kill of Desmond! HMPH. :D

[identity profile] fauxkaren.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha. I agree. If Desmond is killed before being reunited with Penny, my roommate and I have plans to stage a two woman protest at the ABC Studios. DESMOND AND PENNY NEED A HAPPY ENDING. OR ELSE.

AMEN!

I still miss Shannon and Boone.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
It's hard to remember that Sayid and Shannon were together. That seems like a million years ago.

TPTB act like it never happened.

Seriously.
