Mer?

Do we have any idea when Torchwood S3 is supposed to start? I mean, I know we won't get the exact day from the BBC until the morning of, but anyone know what general time-frame we're talking about? Fall?

Also, who's the new showrunner again? Do we know him/her?

ETA: References to the TW S2 finale in the comments.

I was looking for this info the other day but came up empty handed.

Hmmm.

I'd like to know that too! And whose replacing Owen and Tosh.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I've only heard very sketchy rumors about Owen and Tosh replacements - and I'm not completely convinced. But I thought the new headhoncho was already announced. Maybe not.

I'd like to know for sure. That's all.

Gee, is it even going to be the same show now???

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
NO idea. I've even heard rumors about them changing their format to more kid-friendly, which boggles the mind. But just rumors.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
They had a nice balance. Sarah for the kids, the Doctor for the familty, and Torchwood for the adults.

Why would they screw it up???

[identity profile] millylicious.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree on all counts. The whole point of Torchwood is that it was for adults. And it was quite successful with that format, why change a winning formula?

I'd assume November or January based on past years.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
That's when they did the past 2, eh? *hopes for this year*

[identity profile] janetmaca.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Ack, I need my crack to be fully crackified, lack of Owen and Tosh make me scared enough as it is... Damn it. And I have no idea to who's taking over and when it'll air.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, let's bring on Micky and Sarah Jane as replacements. Wouldn't you love to see a crackified Sarah Jane?

[identity profile] janetmaca.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my God that is an awesome idea.

I think I just died a little picturing SJS in a sex scene.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a bit surprising they did *everything* at once. It might not actually be a slate-wipe, but they could theoretically do it.

[identity profile] janetmaca.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
*whimpers* I'm now officially traumatized. Leave it to me not to be traumatized over the idea of a SJS sex scene, rather just the idea of wiping the Torchwood slate clean. And yes. theoretically it could work.

Surely they don't think the show has merit to stand on it's own without the crack? I thought the purpose of the show WAS crack. Am I completely missing something? Is there some sort of 'call to legitimacy' that I'm unaware of?

Why would they think that is a viable plan? Oh..maybe they can't keep up the crack because THEY SMOKED IT. Hence the no Owen and Tosh and Jack being...seeeerrrrious all the time vs. being well, Jack.

Could someone post a bit of unexpected Naked Jack please? My world is spinning in the wrong direction.

Oh, you know these show producers and their whacky notions about their show!

Maybe they could try for an award? (You should see the big-ass grin I've got on my face while typing that.)

Great question! I've got no clue except that there are going to be big changes and BBC America doesn't like them. I don't think Moffat is going to be in charge of TW and SJA, so I don't even know whose taking over. =/

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you have any idea why BBCA doesn't like them? Haven't heard about that.

[identity profile] violet-lane.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
In the new issue of Attitude RTD says Torchwood will be back but with some "big format changes" and that the Americans (BBC America) are not happy with the changes but they are going to make them anyway. =/

Unless there are some hardcore Owen and Tosh fans at BBCAmerica, I think it's probably the amount of episodes. BBC America doesn't tend to run a single season that's under 13 episodes long on its own -- that's why they waited until after series 2 of Primeval to pick it up -- so if the number of episodes is cut in half, BBC America may be forced by their own policy to wait until series 4 airs (if there is one) and air them back-to-back.

It could also have to do with the length of the episodes; if they are only doing five episodes next year, they might make them 50-60 minutes longer, which means more work for BBCAmerica in cutting it down for commercials.

Or maybe it's because they're making it kid-friendly and since all of the TW promos are filled with sex, violence, and grit, they may have to move it to an earlier timeslot. =/

I really don't know why, but just seeing the word "Torchwood" still makes me snort with laughter.

Yes, sometimes I am 12.

What was the question again?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-05-28 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
*pinches your cheeks*

For me I just always can hear JB chewing on the word in the opening credits. Even I don't have an accent like that. :D
