OH HEY! I just won a preview pass to see the new Toy Story ride at Disneyland! (Well, California Adventure.) Too bad I can't go. :(

(I'd give it away, but it's tied to my Annual Pass, which means it's got my name on it, which they'd be checking against the pass...)

Um, congrats? Even if you can't go? :P :D

I was happy I won - I never win anything! But yeah. Rats.

Why can't you go? Is it only for 1 day?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Not only just 1 day, but a specific time. Oh well.

[identity profile] poohmusings.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, that's too bad you can't go! I saw bits of what the Toy Story ride looks like at DisneyWorld, and if the Disneyland is similar, it looks fun.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's the same ride. I'm kinda bummed.

[identity profile] poohmusings.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
And there's a Finding Nemo musical at DisneyWorld. We need to go!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
YES! Let's go to Disney World!

[identity profile] poohmusings.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
JUST TELL ME WHEN!

ETA: Err, is it bad for 2 adults to travel across half of the U.S. simply to go to a theme park?

WHY did I think you were anti-Disney World? I mean, I know you like Disneyland, but...

Ohhhhhhh. This is because I now have an over-the-shoulder bag, isn't it?

And not weird at ALL. Especially if said adults can get a good deal.

[identity profile] poohmusings.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I kind of was anti-Disney World because I wasn't really impressed with the place when I went as a kid.

But I've since learned there are cool rides over there now! And a Finding Nemo musical! AND 2 additional theme parks: Disney Hollywood Studios and Disney Animal Kingdom Park! I did not know of these things!

[identity profile] poohmusings.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Michelle? I have "researched" and going is totally do-able! Unlike with Disneyland, you can stay at a Disney World resort hotel and not pay exorbitant rates! (It helps that there are 4 resort levels. I'm looking at the 2 lower levels. Heh.) The "value" season is mid-August to Oct. 1.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG.

End of September would be the best for me. Weird though. You'd think that October and November would be low months for them.

[identity profile] poohmusings.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe Oct and Nov are considered the "regular" season. I kinda wonder if Aug-Oct is hurricane season in FL. We, uh, might want to avoid FL then if it is. Prices are slightly higher in the regular season, but still reasonable. (Btw, can't do the end of Sept due to brother's wedding. Unless it doesn't involve a weekend. Weekdays are fine; weekends bad.)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh huh. Yeah, maybe that is the rainy season.

Anyway, any time before Labor Day is out for me. Summer is our busy accounting time.

How many days are you thinking of doing?

[identity profile] poohmusings.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno. 4-5 total? 1 day to fly in, 2-3 days to Disney World, 1 day to fly out?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably would work. A park a day? How many of them do they have there nowadays anyway?

[identity profile] poohmusings.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
4 parks, but Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios don't look very big.

Holy crikey. Tickets are pricey. :(

If you get the base ticket, it's $67.67/day for 3 days, but that limits you to 1 park a day. It'd be $82.67/day for 3 days to include the park hopper option, which is good idea, I think.

For 2 days, it's $92/day with the park hopper option, $69.50/day without.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I knew tickets were expensive. But I guess you gotta figure that as part of the expense. No chance you get a discount through your work, is there?

[identity profile] poohmusings.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, no. We don't have any offices in FL. :)

But maybe AAA has discounts? I shall investigate.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
BWAH!! We could stay in a tent!

[identity profile] poohmusings.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
We should definitely avoid hurricane season then. ;)

(No AAA discount, as far as I can tell.)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Nuts.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm gonna get the Free Vacation Planning DVD from their site. :D
