Father's Day Follow-Up
Yesterday I called my dad to wish him a happy Father's Day, and had one of those "this is where I get it from" moments. They're heading off to Hawaii soon, and Dad's in full planning swing. This includes a 3-ring binder. I am not joking. (He also had a checklist when he, my mom and my brother went to Disney World several years back. My brother's still traumatized.)
So anyway, the binder doesn't even phase me anymore - he's got stacks of them for everywhere they've been. It's when he said that since they've got a condo and are going to be cooking some meals, he's already gone online and checked out the supermarket's weekly sales in order to plan their menus.
*SNORTS*
Okay, some of you have actually traveled with me and know that while I am pretty organized and, um, can get pretty driven about certain things, I'm not THAT bad. :D Fortunately I've got enough of my mom in me who is very laid-back and rolls with whatever. (She also has been known to buy Scooby-Doo paper towels just for the hell of it, so that's where I get THAT from.)
So happy Father's Day, Dad! And thank you for being half of my gene pool, Mom! :D
ETA: And health update. I'm staying home from work today. I'm feeling better, but I kind of don't want to wear myself out on this one. Also, my back is a bit sore - but that might just be because of the inactivity rather than some dire kidney thing. *crosses fingers*
ETA2: Oh ha! I've been having REALLY weird vivid dreams the last couple of nights. Just checked my prescription and one side-effect is nightmares. Weird. Last night wasn't a nightmare per se, but it did seem to revolve around the Family Guy. Pretty sure Stewie was trying to take over the world. :D

My mom still chuckles every now and again about how she and my brother are scarily similar about certain things (like they're penchant to clean obsessively). All I can think when she does this is: better him than me. And thank god my dad's slob gene totally beat up my mom's everything. must. be. clean. gene.

Everything would be planned down to the second, and you and Jojo *would* have gone on the Freedom Trail with me. :D

o_0 I think ANY dream that includes characters from family Guy can be designated as a nightmare ;-P
Your Dad sounds kind of awesome, and very well-prepared :-D
Glad to hear that you are feeling a bit better. Take it easy today!

There was a lot of running for our lives in a parking structure with Brian, but I remember being pretty amused at the whole thing.

I've been having pretty vivid dreams from the painkillers I'm on. Although I haven't quiet gone into the realm of cartoons yet. LOL

And I seemed to have skipped straight to cartoons. Probably says something about me. :D

That is par for course. :D
I totally know what you mean about the parents thing. I'm so a combo of mom and dad. :)

And...is that a Shaun of the Dead icon? I just watched that for the first time this morning! (And played British Actor Bingo.)

Have you seen Hot Fuzz and Run Fat Boy Run?
Up for a SoCal lj Whovian S4 watchfest?
