And people think RTD is cracky? Every time I think DW can't get any weirder, IT DOES. :D

FOR REAL. The first time I heard that I was like...is this some obscure, old-school in-joke? APPARENTLY NOT. You can't make this show up. Seriously, I don't even know why people whined about Tinkerbell!Ten, with that lurking in the background. I've also seen a picture of Three dressed up as a washerwoman. I need to see this serial RIGHT NOW.

And yeah, DW never manages to surprise me. There's actually a companion who turns into a Tardis! I don't understand how, but apparently there's a scene where she splits open and Eight and Fitz walk around inside her. CREEPY.

Ah, good old Frobisher. Back in the day they used to take advantage of having no effects budget in the strips by doing all the sorts of things they couldn't afford to do on the show without it looking completely crapulous.

Of course, it's not a particularly well-kept secret that Linus Torvalds is, in fact, Frobisher's current guise on Earth. XP

That would be Compassion. She's actually far from the most obnoxious of the more outre companions during that era. You wanna talk about Mary Sues? Don't even get me started on Iris Wildthyme or Bernice Summerfield.

*squints* Clearly, I should have just accepted Tinkerbell!Doctor as a normal part of the crack that is Doctor Who. No wonder John Barrowman and David Tennant jumped for joy when they found out about the Jack=Boe thing. They both grew up with it (unlike me), so they have a much fuller understanding of just how insane DW can get. Jack=Boe is positively tame by comparison.

A penguin. *snickers* You know, SGA fanfic has a fairly well-known sub-genre of crack fic where characters turn into penguins, but at least that wasn't put in the official magazine or anything. Geez.

Oh, he wasn't even a real penguin, just a shapeshifting alien who preferred to run around as one. Although, when you think about it, why would anyone choose a penguin? Sure, they're cute and all, but who wants to waddle when you can run or fly?

Hee! I've heard of the two of them. I know that Bernice is like River Song only better and that Iris is voiced by Katy Manning. I definitely have heard though that they're love them or hate them companions. xD

Is Sam Jones really as bad as they say?

I think the plots surrounding Sam were unnecessarily convoluted (and believe you me, from someone who adored the pre-Crisis DC Universe, that's saying something), as was the case for a lot of the stuff involving Faction Paradox. She became more of a plot object for me than a character.

The real answer: because the writers thought it was funny. I always kind of wondered, given the timing, if one of them hadn't gotten it into their head that it would be funny to have Opus from Bloom County travelling with the Doctor.

I seem to recall the in-story answer was something like he was fond of penguin-form because his ex-girlfriend used to be in penguin form a lot or something to that effect.

FROBISHERRRRR. Um, even having heard so little of him, I love him. He almost made it into a scrapped story I was writing because...PENGUIN. COMPANION. I might still bring him up later. Even if he actually was a heartsick shapeshifter. PENGUIN.

Do you need the Maltese Penguin audio? I think you do.

I think I love Iris Wildthyme because I can't take her seriously. Whereas Bernice, I can't help but take her seriously. And be annoyed. Oy.

We need to start a campaign for Ten to get his own penguin. Wouldn't that be perfect?
