Trivialities

The Boss is irking me today. Oh, there's the usual interrupting/cutting me off in the middle of a sentence which she does ALL the time. But there's also the toilet paper roll. Instead of putting a new roll on (which would take 2.5 seconds) she always perches the roll on top of the empty. YOU ARE DEEPLY WEIRD, WOMAN. Although maybe I shouldn't be too harsh - it's possible that an empty toilet paper roll once wronged her in some way. Perhaps some preschool tube trumpet trauma.

I've always really liked Kenley. I like her overall style, and probably more importantly she reminds me a lot of someone I know - always done up in that more 40's style hair and makeup - and also their personalities and even looks are very similar. So I sort of get her, if you know what I mean.

But last night I finally got edged into the "she's too whiny and overconfident" camp. (Something not shared in the person I actually know.) I think a fatal flaw designers make on this show is the "my way or the highway" attitude. Hell, I think even Christian took criticism. (Probably while uttering "fierce" 20 times.) Her outfit last night was hideous, and I really thought she'd be axed.

Maybe landing in the bottom last night will kick her out of that "I'm all that!" mindset, but...maybe not.

I'm really surprised Blayne lasted this long. And that he thought his outfit last night was good. If you want to see it, head to the second page of Tim's blog.

Terri's outfit, on the other hand, I didn't think was that bad, although I'll say it does look worse in the shot on Tim's blog than what I remember it looking like. Once she got rid of the fir, I thought it was kind of neat. But, you know, I don't know really the first thing about fashion.

The outfit I liked the best was Joe's. Pretty colors and floofy. (Did I mention not knowing anything about fashion?)

Haha. I totally did the toilet paper roll thing this week. But I was late for school! And if I had taken the two seconds to replace it, catastrophes probably would have resulted.

Also, the guy in your icon looks eerily like Stephane Dion, and it's freaking me out a bit.

Maybe catastrophies would have happened here too!

Maybe they're separated at birth!

Yes! Maybe she thought if she took the time to replace it, she'd get kicked out of the office and wouldn't be allowed to ever return.

Maybe.

DAMN!

Heh, my sister and I used to engage in a bit of a battle of wills about the toilet roll as to who cracked and changed it first when we were younger. I think we're above that now! XD

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-09-11 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Because you've successfully crossed into adulthood.

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2008-09-11 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
*Raises eyebrow* I'm not entirely sure I can agree with that statement! XD

I liked Joe's the best. Actually, I liked Korto's the best but in a more "I would SO wear that" kind of way. O:-)

I think the problem with A LOT of the designers this season is that they just. don't. listen. Tim is there to help them and guide them. You know? Plus, he knows Michael-Nina-Heidi's tastes and can guess what they'd say. And when the judges give you critiques YOU EFFING LISTEN TO THEM. Gosh. It's not personal. I think what they really want is to push the designers to be better and step outside of their comfort zones. It's annoying when the designers get so insolent and bratty. Like Kenley was basically having a hissy fit last night. OY.

Anyway. Sorry for ranting in your journal. O:-)

I did like Korto's as well. (Another that sort of suffers from the still photo on the blog. Not the best picture of it.)

I always wonder if these people have actually watched past seasons or not. I mean, you can get huge insight into what the judges look for and think considering they've done 4 years already. And how can you not see how helpful Tim's advice has been if you actually watch the show?

I wonder if it was because it kind of worked for Kenley last week (she was sort of admired for fighting for her design), that she thinks she'll be able to argue her way past the judges all the time now.

I have no idea. It baffles me when someone doesn't listen to Tim. That's pretty much setting yourself up for failure. At least when you're on PR.

Oh, gosh. That is a scary thought. I think I remember Santino getting a Talking To from Tim for snapping at Nina on the runway. It kind of looked like that might happen again next week with Kenley. O_o

She totally needs it.

She does. And for her sake (and omg Tim's) I hope she listens.

[identity profile] zinke.livejournal.com 2008-09-11 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to admit, Kenley's been slowly getting on my nerves for the past 1-2 episodes and last night pushed me over the edge as well. I'm not all that optimistic that she's going to take the judges suggestions/criticisms to heart, given how vehemently she was arguing with them but we'll see.

Also, Terri is now on my list. Wow, what a cranky-pants she is! Not that I'm all that find of Keith either, but give the man a chance for Pete's sake!

I am all for LeAnn FTW.

I'm not sure if she's always been like this and we just haven't seen that much before, or if she's acquired the "I can do no wrong" attitude as time goes on. Maybe she needs to be in the bottom two before she clues in.

She really sunk her own ship. She went in refusing to have him be any part of it, and then she actually tried to blame being in the bottom on him for walking out on her.

I am all for LeAnn FTW.

She's done some great stuff lately. Now she's someone that actually took criticism to heart. Wasn't she at the bottom in the beginning for having too many elements? And then she immediately adapted next time out.

[identity profile] zinke.livejournal.com 2008-09-11 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
LeAnn was in the bottom several times in the beginning and she really has taken everything the judges and Tim have said and you can see it in the work she's done. I think she's a shoe in for Bryant Park at this point if for no other reason than she's listened and learned.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-09-11 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
*nods*

[identity profile] janetmaca.livejournal.com 2008-09-11 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh... that is weird.

[identity profile] janetmaca.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
It's gotta be.

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen last night's PR yet, but Kenley started getting on my nerves that one episode when she started giggling at something Daniel (?) said right there in front of the judges. Giggling in an "Oh, he's so stupid" kind of way, although she tried to play it off. *eyeroll* I'm not surprised she's getting even more annoying.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that was pretty rude of her.

[identity profile] tsukara.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Funny, my Sinisister does the same thing. Annoys the bejeebums out of me too.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe it's how the brain is wired?

[identity profile] tsukara.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps. Wired to be lazy about putting the tube on the roll. Huh.

[identity profile] ivydoor.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
The toilet paper thing. OMG The hubby does the SAME THING. SO annoying. What is the deal? Are they afraid that the roll holder will attack if taken off of the rack?

I've been woefully behind on PR and I'm catching up tonight. I totally agree that Kenley needs to be taken down a notch. I was aghast to see her fight the judges the way she did and I really have NO idea what she was thinking with that outfit. I kept wanting to poke the shoulders to see if they were stuffed with newspaper. :/

I think she has a different definition of avant-garde or something. It would have been avant-garde in the 80s. And her excuse of not following fashion? It's a bit like trying to defend writing badfic because you don't read books or something.

i really liked Joe's as well-but you know-it isn't what we real people like-look at the winner of last time and the time before.

sometimes, i swear, all their taste is in their mouth.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-09-12 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this stuff definitely isn't for the real world, that's for sure!
