There's a fantastic article on Firefox News that was inspired by [livejournal.com profile] tv_elf. But it's also about fandom in general.

Dances With Penguins

Sometimes it is nice to remember there's more than just petty differences.

I saw that yesterday, and thought that it was extremely well written and heart-warming. My heart goes out to those that knew her.

Interesting to note as well, that Wil Wheaton read it and felt similar, which I think just shows how small fandom really is, despite seeming so damn huge.

I saw some comments that they'd been linked by Wil Wheaton's blog. Yeah, it does really feel like a small fannish world after all. :)

Awww. I didn't know [livejournal.com profile] tv_elf, but that's such a fantastic article, and it's the stuff a lot of people seem not to realise about fandom.

I saw it on Wil Wheaton's blog before reading my feeds and seeing it there.
I thought it was very heartwarming, even if I never knew her

That was a great article. It captured what I love so much about LJ, and why other online "social" networks will never quite measure up.

I agree. I really love the kinds of interactions that can go on here.
