It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
Today I answered the call of Muppets lost in time! (Translation, I went to Disneyland.)
First of all, the Muppets texting game they had for AP-holders was pretty fun. Although I got stumped on one answer, asked someone who I noticed was doing it as well (easy to spot us - people running around squinting at paper with their cell phones out), but he gave me the wrong answer. BAH! I nearly left the park empty-handed, but for some reason got a lightning bolt of the answer while standing in line for Small World. The prize wasn't huge, but still pretty snifty - a map of what DCA will look like in 2012 since they're redesigning a lot of it. Heh heh - time travel thing and you get a "map from the future." *snickers* And I had to admit it was even fun hounding down the Cast Member at the end of it to get the prize because he was really into it. "I knew someone from Muppet Labs was coming! I'm glad you're here! I've got the secret documents for you!" And you get this big envelope with "TOP SECRET. DO NOT OPEN UNTIL 2008." on it (You know, time thing.) that has the map and a letter. All in all, lots of fun! I actually spent most my time in DCA today because of it.
Anyway, a number puzzle for you all. This was one of the things you had to solve. To some of you this might be simple. I was glad I had a calculator on my phone. :D You had to hunt down numbers in the San Francisco area.
What is the missing number in this sequence?

Thank goodness it wasn't any harder. HEH.

Toy Story Mania!! I'd never been on this ride before.

SO. MUCH. FUN.
It's waaaaaay better than the Buzz Lightyear shooter ride. This one you wear 3D glasses for, but you're not actually moving when you're shooting at things. Well, "shooting." It's all electronic, but the great thing about this vs. Buzz is that you can see the thing you're throwing. The cars whip around and stop in long hallways where you play different games like hitting plates or ring toss or throwing darts at balloons. Stuff like that. Sometimes things come flying at you and they'll blow air at you or squirt water at you to make it all realistic. FUN FUN FUN! Great new ride!

I had to take this picture because the fake sky backdrop blends into the real sky. You can see more of a distinction in the picture but when looking at it, it took me a minute to realize there was a sky wall. (It was a beautiful day - about 75 for the high.)

Day and night Golden Gate Bridge. It's going away soon. They're redoing the whole entrance to the park. It's going to be a 1920s theme - basically to recreate L.A. when Walt Disney first came to it. The Red Car and everything.

The entrance Mickey had a sad lack of Christmas. It did, however, sparkle. Their slogan at the parking lot was "Sparkling...with joy." Or something like that. I only saw the word "Sparkle," which made snicker at the thought of sparkly vampires, and then promptly forgot it.

The inside of the train station was all set up for the Candlelight thing they do. The thing that made the park even more busy than normal. Also the thing that meant I would NOT be staying inside Disneyland past oh...4-ish. Basically because I wanted to be able to get out alive. I didn't see the monorails running and so that meant you were well and truly STUCK IN DISNEYLAND while this went on. Oh, they claimed there was a small corridor to go through. Tell that to the person probably curled in a ball next to Star Tours right now.

I like all the holiday touches they do. I should have taken pictures of all the different light poles in every land since they did different things. Like...pinecones and acorns for Critter Country. Or beads for New Orleans Square.

LOOK KIDS, THERE IS SNOW ON THE CASTLE! REALLY AND FOR TRUE!

I wasn't wild about the color scheme they had going. They went pastel-y to match the castle, but it just sorta seemed washed out. The colors weren't all that vivid. It probably looks better at night, however I wouldn't know because I value my life.

Two Mickey balloons making a break for it. They heard about the Candlelight thing too.

And speaking of making a break for it, I'm pretty sure there's supposed to be a figure in the middle of those wooden soldiers. Hmmmm. I would have loved to have been there if it had just randomly thunked over. :D

This is a bear. It really, really is. I'm told there are no bears in the UK.

While I went on a few rides in DCA, Small World was the only ride I went on while at Disneyland. Feel free to unfriend as needed.

Awww, Christmas stuff!

THE HIPPO! At last I have an in-focus picture of the hippo!!! \o/

Christmas Small World > Regular Small World

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa la la la la la la la la...

I love this throw I bought today. You could get it for $15 if you spent $50. Well then, I'd just have to spend $50. Doing my part in this whole recession thing.

MICKEY AND MINNIE SNOWBALLS. Okay, snowmen probably. Something. They are. so. cute. I also got some other stuff. A t-shirt, Mickey ice cube trays, Mickey pancake/egg mold. However, they are not as cute as the snowballs and so don't deserve picture-taking.
And now I can't decide if I'm hungry or if I want to sleep.
Note to Karen: NEW TRAVEL MUG! It's Christmas-y and has Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald...and randomly Stitch.
Note to Deb: THE SECRET ENTRANCE TO THE PARKING GARAGE WAS CLOSED. :( :(

Then again maybe that's just my reaction to Small World itself.
Love the throw (even if Pluto kinda...blends into the floor there...) and the Snowballs! Ah! Adorable!
I love your D-land posts. They make my ribs hurt with delicious laughter.

What? Just because the sun in that last picture is pretty much saying, "Smile children, or I will eat you"?

Poor Pluto. His butt is sticking up through the wreath. Don't know if that helps.

It...is? It is! I didn't even notice (I thought it was, like, leaning up aganst the fireplace or something.)
Someone really didn't visualize how that would look on a limited-color throw, I think...

Yeah, lots and lots of the same color of brown there.

75?! *facepalm* It snowed today. In fact, I think it's still snowing. Yet another reason I need to migrate West...at least for the winter.
Oh and Muppet scavenger hunt FTW! :D

Awwww. I did have a really good time yesterday. The legs are a bit sore today though. :D

It's actually grey today. Around 60 right now.

So much fun! I'd seriously visit the parks more often if they had different stuff like this.

My mind still thinks of Mickey Smith whenever I see the word Mickey. Yes, even in a post about Disneyland. So now I'm thinking of Mickey meeting Edward Cullen. THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR MY BRAIN.
This is a bear. It really, really is. I'm told there are no bears in the UK.
That is NOT a bear. I have teddy bears that look my bear-like than that.
MICKEY AND MINNIE SNOWBALLS.
OMG WANT.

Mickey Smith would kick Edward Cullen's ass. And then some.

Aw so cute. Disney is the best.

And going there usually relaxes me. Walk around in pretty settings and most people are happy and nice.
Okay, so sometimes you do run across kids (or even adults) who were obviously raised with absolutely no manners and you'd like to boot across the parking lot.

Our Small World had been closed for a year. They brought in new boats and redid the water canal. So that was great they got it open for the holidays.

NEW TRAVEL MUG! It's Christmas-y and has Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald...and randomly Stitch.
You know, I just happened to notice this morning as I was putting on my shoes that my travel mug from last year is still sitting in my room because it hasn't quite made it to the kitchen yet. Um. Yeah.
THE SECRET ENTRANCE TO THE PARKING GARAGE WAS CLOSED. :( :(
FLASHBACKS TO THE (CAR) "WAR." (aka you and Deb discussing this entrance AGAIN)
THE HIPPO! At last I have an in-focus picture of the hippo!!! \o/
HA! Go you!

I had a 2-handed corn dog! And sat over by that mini roller coaster. However, they've now added an annoying announcement that repeats every 2 seconds. Something like "please stay in your car until a complete stop, then exit on your left. thank you." Seriously, every 2 seconds.

HEH! I use mine all the time. Part of why I need to replenish them - they start to fade after so much dishwasher cleaning.
FLASHBACKS TO THE (CAR) "WAR." (aka you and Deb discussing this entrance AGAIN)
Imagine the discussion if it had been closed back then! "OMG, SEE!!" "I SWEAR YOU CAN NORMALLY GO THIS WAY!" "I HATE YOU ALL!"
HA! Go you!
I love that hippo.
I thought about going on the Haunted Mansion, but it was so crazy around there I decided to skip it. Even though I love that version. And of course I hit the Pooh store to look for something for the new niece or nephew, but decided I wanted to wait to find out if it was a boy or girl. Too much is gender-specific.

OMG I DID NOT KNOW YOU'RE SOON TO BE AN AUNT. YOU ARE HOLDING OUT ON ME, MISSY.

And now for inordinately long response comments!
You're so lucky to have gotten to do that AP thing. I miss my annual pass, even if I didn't really get to do quite as much as I'd have liked with it. Like visit the Disneyland Dream Suite. That made me so mad that I got invited but couldn't go!
What is the missing number in this sequence? Thank goodness it wasn't any harder. HEH.
256! 256! And I did that in my head!
SO. MUCH. FUN. It's waaaaaay better than the Buzz Lightyear shooter ride.
I TOLD YOU it was genius, did I not!? I rode it three times. Brilliant!
I had to take this picture because the fake sky backdrop blends into the real sky.
I absolutely love that. It's such a cool effect. Imagineering Forced Perspective for the win!
It's going away soon. They're redoing the whole entrance to the park. It's going to be a 1920s theme - basically to recreate L.A. when Walt Disney first came to it.
And while that makes me a bit sad, I'm actually really excited about the whole DCA makeover. And I loved the 1920s. And yay Walt Disney. I love him.
I only saw the word "Sparkle," which made snicker at the thought of sparkly vampires, and then promptly forgot it.
Ahahaha. Stupid vampires. Oh beeteedub, have you seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u718MmV0dg
Two Mickey balloons making a break for it. They heard about the Candlelight thing too.
LOL. I always love seeing the balloons flying away. I know there's some kid in the park crying his eyes out because he lost his balloons but even so, seeing them drift into the California sky just makes my heart happy.
And speaking of making a break for it, I'm pretty sure there's supposed to be a figure in the middle of those wooden soldiers. Hmmmm. I would have loved to have been there if it had just randomly thunked over. :D
I know for a FACT that there is a third little dude there with a trumpet. I'm pretty sure I have photographic evidences too. It would be hilarious though.
Feel free to unfriend as needed.
Anybody who hates it's a small world has no heart. Which apparently means my boyfriend. But whatever. I freaking love it. I once had a dream that all the dolls got stolen out of it.
I CRIED.

Very much agreed. I got a duffel bag out of the same deal. So cool.

DEY IS SO CUTE. Also I love all the Mickey stuff you can get. I totally almost bought the ice cube trays last time I was there, but not till I get my own place I s'pose.
YAY DISNEYLAND!

I don't think I'll be sad to see anything go. I can't quite figure out why they're switching the sun and the Mickey logo between the roller coaster and the wheel, but...eh. I think the whole Walt theme could work. Make it almost historical, and then build certain lands off that like the boardwalk and the Hollywood areas. The Cars Land won't fit into the theme, but I don't think people will care much since it'll have an E-ticket. (At least I have no idea how they'd make Cars Land fit with the whole retro-nostalgia thing. Although I guess Radiator Springs was kind of a blast from the past. That whole Route 66 thing.)
I'm sad it's all so far off yet. Not fully completed until 2012.
Ahahaha. Stupid vampires. Oh beeteedub, have you seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u718MmV0dg

The ice cube trays work so well! I wish I'd bought two of them instead of the pancake ring. That only sort of works. I tried it with an egg this morning, and it still liked to leak underneath it.
