  • Was up at the company Christmas party all day yesterday. Got my 5 Year award. Had a few drinks. All in all, a fun day. And the place was right on the beach, about 72 degrees...

  • Got some great news on a very close friend of mine. Since this summer we've all been bracing ourselves for a diagnosis of MS. A bazillion tests later and yesterday she finally got the word that MS is ruled out. So. Relieved.

  • Next week we're supposed to get rain and a low of 40! That's like...practically snow conditions!

  • In spite of all that, I'm feeling blah and grumpy today. *grumps* Will get back to LJ-ing sometime.

Don't feel grumpy, it's well below freezing here!

I guess I can't really complain. :D

So jealous of the weather there!!

But, I'm headed to SD to spend with the holidays with my sons next week! YAY!! I'm going home for Christmas!! So, 40 degrees? Pshaw I say, we're at 35F here in NM right now.

Congratulations on the 5 year award and the good news for your friend! Excellent!

Is it bad to say that it can sometimes get boring? Sometimes I'd like it if there was a bit more variety.

WOOOOO!!

nah. Not bad to say it at all. I felt the same way and now I can say with all certainty that variety is highly overrated. :)

I miss silly things like june gloom and fog and ocean breezes.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, June gloom. That actually lasted much of the summer this year. It was a pretty cool summer. Can't really complain about the heat this year much at all.

Yay for 5 years! Though, come to think of it, I hope I won't be at my job in 5 years. Yikes.

Double yay for not MS!

You're so cute with your "practically snow conditions"

It'll be cold and it'll be rainy, but this is snow conditions, as is this.

Don't be grumpy. Go watch "Let them Eat Cake" (such a cute House episode), go watch New Earth or Tooth and Claw, because Rose and Ten were so cute back in the day. *hugs* being grumpy sucks.

Heh heh. I sorta can't believe I'm still here either.

Well...maybe San Diego could look like that. Maybe? Okay, something about hell and freezing over...

Tomorrow is going to be Christmas cookie baking day with a friend, so that should be good.

It's still a yayness moment.

Hee!

Haha, rub it in, why don'tcha?

Oddly enough, I am not jealous of your weather. We have the lovely light-ish rain that I like, and it's warm if you put a jumper on. And very windy! :D

I'm glad that's been ruled out for your friend!

And am sorry you're grumpy. That's never fun!

I like that kind of weather. The kind where you're happy to be inside. I sort of live in the wrong place for that kind of weather though. :D

I'm glad that's been ruled out for your friend!

Hooray!

And am sorry you're grumpy. That's never fun!

I think I need a weekend.

How can it possibly have been 5 years?

We're only a bit below 40 today! Well, maybe 35. And it is no longer raining. North and west of me, though, there are about a million people without electricity due to an ice storm, and the ones in MA at least are unlikely to have it turned back on before Monday. BRRRR.

Glad to hear the good news about your friend.

I know! Doesn't it seem like only a year ago that I was out of work?

Very happy news.

*EYES*

Hmmm. If I promised to do your dishes and laundry, could I move in? I don't require a lot to be happy. Just wireless Internet and a morning coffee.

IT'S THE NEXT ICE AGE.

OOOOOOOH! I HAVE MORNING COFFEE! But sadly no wireless internet.

Hmm...we had snow yesterday. I'm ready for Sunday and the return of temperatures in the 70's. (Though I did love to see my kids playing in it and acting like kids. They don't do much of that anymore.)

Glad to hear the news about your friend...now they just need to figure out what it is.

Take a long lunch ang have a drink, it helps witht he grumpy day after the company Christmas party (mine was last night).

I guess she no longer has the symptoms she did this past summer - blurry vision, numbness. So they're saying unless they come back, she doesn't need to keep going in. I don't know all the details, but I'm assuming that since they've done so many tests, they're not worried about any other big problems right now.

Why do companies like to do Thursdays? They should do it on Friday.

I went outside for a little while...but it was cold. So I went inside and watched them through the window and made hot cocoa for when they came in.

They think we would all act stupid if it were on Friday, and we will be more responsible if we know we have to come to work the next morning. (Really, I've been told this is the reason.) Though I have to say that a couple of the partners were the last ones to leave last night, so they should know better.

Yeah, that's probably the reason.

Also, wow! I looked back at what I had typed and it looked like I'd been drinking at lunch. I wish they had spell check on everything!

That's awesome news about your friend!

Heheh, we've already had snow for some time here in Finland. Although right now it's pretty warm( ie above the freezing point) and most of the snow has molten ;_;

I think it'd be fun to someday have a white Christmas.

That is wonderful news about your friend. Arggggh 72 degrees? So not fair. But I am so am East Coast gal I wouldn't know what to do with weather like that year round. congrats on your 5th year anniversary. I had my 6th in October. Sorry you are feeling blah *glomps you*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-12-13 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
On the other hand, I'm not quite sure what I'd do with a white Christmas. I've never had one. :D

And thanks on the rest. :)

[identity profile] stephdub.livejournal.com 2008-12-13 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
72 degrees? You whore. Oh right, you can't control the weather... well I'm still bitter that my ancestors decided to settle in the snow belt of Ontario. Jerks.

So on a random and kinda scary note - about your friend, very glad it's not MS. However... a co-worker was diagnosed with MS about a year ago, and he went really rapidly downhill. REALLY rapidly. It turns out that he was misdiagnosed, and he actually has brain cancer. It was a tumor causing the MS symptoms. So please, please tell your friend to get an MRI, or some other medical test or something. I'm sorry to be all fear mongering but better safe than sorry, right? Co-worker is in the hospital now, and not really expected to make it past the new year, and I can't help but wonder if it would be different if they'd got the right diagnosis earlier. Again, sorry for putting this idea in your head... I really hope your friend gets everything figured out soon.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-12-13 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man, that's horrible about your coworker. :( I do know that my friend has had MRI or CAT scans or whatever it is they use to look at your brain, and nothing came back as saying she had any tumors or anything thankfully.

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Congrats on the five years, and BIG congrats on the good diagnosis for your friend.

Next week we're supposed to get rain and a low of 40! That's like...practically snow conditions!

*snerk* I can practically hear my mother, in Indiana, roll her eyes when I start going on about how chilly and rainy it is when it's in the low 40s around here. Heh. We're so put upon!

I hope your day got better! *hugs*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

And BRRRRRR. It's 53 out right now! I almost need to wear a long-sleeved shirt under my jacket! O_O

Today is better than yesterday, by quite a lot. Made cookies and stuff today. Mmmmmm.
