  • My feet are cold.

  • Back before DW fandom, I had no desire to look at fanart. If I ran across it, I'd eye it with suspicion and quickly move on. In DW...I kinda love it. Like my icon which comes from here. Maybe it's because I'm used to seeing DW in comic-book form that's quasi-canon. I'd say it might be because I'm desperate for anything new involving Ten II and Rose, but I even like looking at non-Rose-related art. Hmmm.

  • On the DW Christmas episode,

    Dear RTD,

It would be awfully good of you to sidestep your normal gut-ripping angst this year. I realize that Christmas = Death in your mind, and I realize I have to accept that. But it'd be ever so nice to tone it down a bit. Please? I've been sort of good this year and everything!

    So to sum up,

NO. TOO FAR. TURN BACK NOW. FIERY, SOUL-CRUSHING DESTRUCTION IS IRKSOME WHEN TRYING TO DIGEST PIE. ALSO, NO MORE ASCENDING TO HEAVEN THE BRIDGE, PLEASE.

See, you've got destruction off to the side (which I'm sure was an interesting insurance claim) and a fairly well adjusted (aka 'not ready to take down the universe in a ball of flames') Doctor.
    [thumbs up]

  • I'm more than ready for the weekend, thanks.

You've not read the spoilers then?

Oh

The Doctor saves a puppy who becomes the new companion but then it sacrifices itself to save both the Doctor and an innocent kitten that happened into the TARDIS.

The Doctor is distraught because, woe, the puppy did call him Lonely Angel in dog speak and they had formed a special bond. The puppy did died dead next to a fireplace.

Now, the Doctor has adopted the kitten but it has formed an inappropriate crush on him and he will be forced to break it's poor kittenish heart because woe, he is a god and it is but a poor kitten.

And there was supposed to be a sparkly parrot archeologist somewhere in there but it was axed when it got locked in the freezer next to the turkey at Thanksgiving because it couldn't shut up and turned out to be more sparkly than dobby!doc.

You've not read the spoilers then?

I've glanced at some general ones...

The Doctor saves a puppy who becomes the new companion but then it sacrifices itself to save both the Doctor and an innocent kitten that happened into the TARDIS.

OMG.

The Doctor is distraught because, woe, the puppy did call him Lonely Angel in dog speak and they had formed a special bond. The puppy did died dead next to a fireplace.

[SOBS]

Now, the Doctor has adopted the kitten but it has formed an inappropriate crush on him and he will be forced to break it's poor kittenish heart because woe, he is a god and it is but a poor kitten.

[nods] Everyone knows kittens aren't good enough for Time Lords. 'tis fact.

And there was supposed to be a sparkly parrot archeologist somewhere in there but it was axed when it got locked in the freezer next to the turkey at Thanksgiving because it couldn't shut up and turned out to be more sparkly than dobby!doc.

Only the Doctor can sparkle! And sometimes Rose! Also Donna! (I think! Didn't she sparkle in JE?) But never ever parot archaeologists! That's just silly.

TRUFAX

Dude.

ZOMG TEN WITH FOUR'S SCARF #(*$&%# AWESOMECAKES.

Also, so right there with you on the Wish For Non-Apocalyptic Christmas Special. I love Rusty, really and truly, but I am pretty much over all his issues at this point.

[nodnodnodnod] I've had really quite enough of Big Important Angst and the Doctor crying alone in the rain or whatever.

Dude, it's not just destruction off to the side, it's Christmas-tree-shaped destruction. And that is giggles for the hilarious win every time I see it. Especially since none of the characters ever acknowledge it - the big tree shaped hole just sits there being quietly funny.

I was okay with the amount of angst in the Runaway Bride, because I felt they did a decent job of being true to his heartbreak, while also throwing a giant ball of hysterical awesome at him in the form of Donna. And after Turn Left, I like to think it wasn't just her saying "stop now" that saved him, but also the tiny moments like riding down the hallway on the scooters giggling madly together.

But yes - Christmas Invasion is the best, hands down. Because while Rose spends time mourning Nine, it ends with absolute joy.

This? Is true. It's a Bugs Bunny hole! :D

I was nearly okay with TRB angst, but that whole "burn baby, burn" scene pushed it a smidge too far for me. Of course, when I first watched it Donna really rubbed me the wrong way. I've since seen the awesome that is Donna, but back then... Wasn't a fan.

But yes - Christmas Invasion is the best, hands down. Because while Rose spends time mourning Nine, it ends with absolute joy.

Yeah, there are actual tears and death in the episode, but ultimately it winds up as positive. Shocking for a Christmas ep! :D

One suspects that we are more likely to end up with something of a continuing thread to the rest of the Specials... so I'm thinking more WTF than angst. Hopefully WTFOMGBBQ like the end of PiC and not WTF DOOD SRSLY WTF like some other episodes I could mention.

My feet are cold.

So are mine. Socks and slippers obviously do nothing to warm the tootsies. The shame! The deceit! The lies! Humph. I need a permanent radiator attached to my ankle that'll emit bursts of warm wind or something.

I want Santa Rusty to hear our pleas toooooooo. Let's all starting singing Song for Ten to evoke some Rusty Christmas Spirit. :D

MMMMMM, PIEEEEE. ♥

Sadly I'm at work and so don't have the option of more layers. Brrrrrrrr.

Ah, back when DW's scale tipped towards the happy and shiny side as opposed to the angst side.

MMMMMM, PIEEEEE. ♥

It will be pumpkin pecan pie. MMMMMM.

It's an html code for lists:

http://www.helpwithpcs.com/courses/html/html_tags_lists.htm

You can use "ul" to get the dots, or you can use "ol" which will automatically number it.

How can your feet be cold when you live where you live? :P

Also, that is a very shiny icon and the more and more I see those icons, the more I decide I have to have one! *Wanders off to stare at the pretty*

(which I'm sure was an interesting insurance claim)

XD I am pretty much imagining that in the time in between TCI and New Earth, Jackie made the Doctor do something about the holes in the wall! XD Mainly because it's a really amusing mental image!

Also, HAPPY WOULD BE GOOD.

She probably did! Obviously some time has passed - Rose has gotten a hair cut, the TARDIS has been moved, Mickey's done some backsliding when it comes to his and Rose's relationship... Plenty of time for the Doctor to get on those overalls and patch up the wall. :D

Also, HAPPY WOULD BE GOOD.

Yes.

Bring on the Jackie drags Ten to B&Q fic, please! Imagine the chaos he could cause with the sonic screwdriver, and him and Rose hiding from it in the aisles and giggling. And the headlines: SWORD-FIGHTING ALIEN CAUGHT IN CHISTMAS TREE LIGHT MELTDOWN.

Hee, fanart makes me happy in a happy place. ^____^ (er... even if it's not quite THIS fandom's fanart. Ex. http://oddments.livejournal.com/15415.html#cutid1 because I can't help spreading the love even if you have no clue who these two are)

Are manips the same thing as fanart? Or are manips considered a subset of fanart? Because I still think manips are bad and wrong and butter-worthy omg.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm...not sure? :D I'd guess it's a subset of fanart, but don't know. I like...some manips. Like, I think that the thing in my icon is a partial manip or something. Not exactly sure.

However, some manips FREAK ME THE HELL OUT OMG. But I guess it's like that with fanfic and badfic. :D

I've always loved fanart, but maybe that's because I'm an(albeit slightly sucky) fanartist myself =)

Can't wait for the Christmas Special, angst and all. But yes, it would be nice to have it end on a more cheerful note this time...

I'd say...not really likely. With a limited number of specials left with DT, I think they're going to focus on the original world with him. I wouldn't mind a book or a comic book or an audio special though. Or RTD wandering in and writing fanfic. :D
