Episode dump

  • BSG last week was boring. Really boring. [livejournal.com profile] katesutton re-titled it as "Or, the one where everyone but Lee is a complete moron." The Humans are imploding and I sort of don't care. Right now they just don't seem worth saving in the end. And that's all I've got on that.

  • House was kind of a strange episode. So Cuddy really would have bitched House out over speakerphone, freaking out a patient whose head was currently cut open? That's...really irresponsible. I don't care if it resulted in getting a diagnosis - that part was a plot device. And then the whole thing with the baby... Yeah, I still don't care about the personal drama on this show. And wow Cameron went through that job fast. A job that seemed to involve her sitting in Cuddy's office, waiting for House to turn up and ask her things. :D

Anyway, I've decided in my ongoing lack of caring about the personal drama on this show, I really don't care about Thirteen. Even though they devote a LOT of time to her and her illness. I think she's an interesting character, but enough already. I want to watch House and his team solve really weird cases. Period.

  • Jack and Chloe screen time! \o/ They so wanted to hug each other. *nods* (I sort of remember Chloe being pregnant before - who's the father? I don't remember that part.)

I was happy that the President's hubby wasn't killed. (Saying "First Gentleman" sounds weird.) They've finally caught a break, since now they'll be able to look into the money angle. Shame that the son's girlfriend had to die. That was rather gruesome.

Heh. Bill is awesome. He has that magical power to make people believe him with sheer earnestness. He and Jack are the only two people on the planet with it.

I wonder how long the FBI agent will stay in hiding with them. Well, whenever she turns up alive, her boss who's secretly in love with her will probably wet himself with joy. I've decided that I don't want the FBI woman to get together with her boss - he's now gone into my "weird and creepy" column. I also don't want her to be yet another in Jack's long line of temporary love interests. We've SEEN that go down before. And before. And before. Besides, he's Chloe's, dammit!

  • Can I have Torchwood back yet please? It feels like it's been FOREVER since there's been new Torchwood.

  • ETA: Apparently this is all over my flist this morning. Aww, Martha might come back? (Although it's from the Sun, which...yeah.) I'd like to see Martha again. :) Although I'm still irked Freema had to go and get herself another job so she can't join Torchwood.

Martha returning could be in any form - a character in a whole episode or... You know, I'd still like to see the Doctor regenerate surrounded by friends. That'd be my hope - that she and others (Sarah Jane, Jack, Mickey, Donna...and Rose) would be there for the regeneration so it doesn't happen when he's alone in the rain. I could see the actors wanting to be there for DT's goodbye. *crosses fingers*

A lot of people thought the same thing about BSG. Maybe the human race ISN'T worth saving after all...

If I miss House I really don't care anymore. The new team just doesn't do it for me and the jobs the old team have just aren't a good fit.

Yeah, let's have Cameron lord over House and see how that goes. Didn't last too long, did it...

Well, I think the original BSG ended with Galactica exploding, didn't it? Maybe they'll go the same way.

It seems really weird to me to have Cameron and...I forget the other guy's name just hanging around in other jobs.

Nope.

Oh how easily we forget. :P

Again I say, that BSG episode could have been shrunk down to less than 10 minutes. It was all just filler.

The actor who plays Bill on 24 (James Morrison) almost always seems to play a person with presence on screen--at least he did when he was the Colonel on Space Above and Beyond.

Very much so.

He just has that look about him. Glancing over his IMDB profile, he's played a lot of military commanders, which really fits.

I said one five-minute scene would have covered all the bases.

[identity profile] taibhrigh.livejournal.com 2009-01-28 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Outside of the thing with the Chief and the pronouns the rest of it really could have been wrapped/put in the two minute "previously on BSG" thing at the beginning. I really do dislike episodes like that.

I think BSG needs MOAR BALTAR CRAZYPANTS.

I concur that House needs way way less personal drama. The only interesting character on that show has always been House himself, so please, I do not care about any of these people, just the exploding eyeballs and unnecessary amputations. I've really stopped watching it with any regularity.

There are people (well, person) on my flist who's all up in arms about Martha coming back (insert comment about The Sun right here) but she's the only ex-companion aside from Jack that makes any sense being around (no, wait, scratch that, also Sarah Jane). I've always found Martha to be boring as a character, but she's still the Doctor's friend and I definitely do not want him regenerating all alone in the rain, as you say. So, bring it on.

I liked him better when he was crazy, but actually doing something instead of sitting around preaching.

I recently got hooked on it, so it's still fairly new to me. I haven't gotten to the annoyance stage of the personal drama part yet. Hopefully that won't kick in for a while. It's kind of nice having a full night of TV to watch for once.

Martha became vastly more interesting to me once she left the Doctor. I really liked watching her on Torchwood and in S4. But you're right - she and Jack are the only ones who make sense right now. Although they could probably slip in Sarah Jane and Mickey pretty easily if they felt like it. Much harder would be getting in Donna or Rose, of course.

This! I have an unhealthy love for Baltar, and even I'm getting annoyed by his preaching. I want the original, awesome, flawed-and-he-knows-it, talking to imaginary Six (or, hell, himself) Baltar back. The Baltar that Caprica Six sees. I'm tired of this religious crap. The old Baltar would be aghast at himself.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
And the preaching is just...boring. He's not doing anything but sitting on his butt.

Jack and Chloe screen time! \o/ They so wanted to hug each other.

I almost saw Chloe move her arms and then forcibly still them, because of the situation of course.

I sort of remember Chloe being pregnant before - who's the father?

Isn't it Morris, her husband the Brit from last season?

I was happy that the President's hubby wasn't killed.

I wanted him to hang. What I found frankly unbelievable about this though was the fact that he suddenly regained enough strength in his hands to strangle the MUCH YOUNGER AND FITTER secret service agent. Yeah, right.

Bill is awesome. He has that magical power to make people believe him with sheer earnestness. He and Jack are the only two people on the planet with it.

They are obviously secretly brothers or something - the Brothers Earnest. Though Jack does it more through brutal honesty, as much as the earnestness.

I wonder how long the FBI agent will stay in hiding with them.

Don't know. Renee Walker is a somewhat "eh" character (mini!Jack!wannabee), but I think she's a regular for the season, so I guess she has to finally talk to the FBI again sometime.

her boss who's secretly in love with her will probably wet himself with joy.

Yes, Agent Doofus will likely do that. Though, I'm not entirely sure that his feeling are reciprocated.

I also don't want her to be yet another in Jack's long line of temporary love interests.

Definitely not. It would crush Chloe.

he's Chloe's, dammit!

They were MEANT TO BE!!

I know - that was really silly. Oh show. :D

And Bill will never say "dammit, Chloe!" as well as Jack.

Don't know. Renee Walker is a somewhat "eh" character (mini!Jack!wannabee), but I think she's a regular for the season, so I guess she has to finally talk to the FBI again sometime.

Yeah, seems like she's the regular this year. I'm...fairly indifferent to her character. Don't love her or hate her. She's just there.

They were MEANT TO BE!!

YES!

[identity profile] chiroho.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)

Well, it wouldn't be 24 without suspension of disbelief.

And Bill will never say "dammit, Chloe!" as well as Jack.

Though I do recall him saying it on a number of occasions. You're right though, nobody has the tone that Jack has.

I'm...fairly indifferent to her character.

I'm in the same boat. She's okay. Not someone to intensely dislike, nor someone to become a new "great character" like Michelle did when she joined the show in S2. She's just ... there. It's almost like one of those characters you know won't last more than a couple of episodes at most and so decide not to become attached to, only she won't seem to go away. I just don't like the fact that she gets more screen time than Bill and Chloe!!

I am probably the only person who said: Do not want Martha. I also didn't lament her not doing Torchwood. Ah well.

I've been hit or miss on House for awhile now. I like it best when it's strictly about cases.

I am SO OVER Thirteen. She's become the main character. For no reason that I can see!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It does strike me as a strange tangent. And this is from someone who only started watching a few weeks ago.

[identity profile] memento1.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I had a bit of a weird fascination with House/Cam and less-so House/Cuddy, and just a tiny bit with Cam/Chase (I'm a hopeless shipper!), but it's just getting to be too much, the pairing-off of everyone with everyone else on that show. Meh. And the whole baby-phone thing got a bit ridiculous. Cuddy would have hung up after getting to her point, or if not, Foreman would have pulled the phone away when it became obvious her interest was elsewhere. And I have so little interest in the Thirteen drama next week. It's all Thirteen drama lately. Regardless, I'm still in the first-blush love phase with this show, so enjoying it well enough.

As for Martha...of all the companions to keep returning again and again and again, she's last on my list, but meh. I'm going to be distraught about Ten regenerating anyway.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)

It's funny - I've got a HUGE Doctor/Rose ship obsession going, but more often than not I don't ship people on shows I watch. So the pairing-off stuff...very much meh for me. :D

Exactly.

Me thinks TPTB are loving the fact that they've got a hot bisexual female character a wee bit too much.

I really wouldn't mind if Martha would turn up every once in a while. Same with Jack. Give the Doctor a tiny bit of stability at least.

[identity profile] memento1.livejournal.com 2009-01-28 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh, I'm hopeless. I see ship in everything. House and Lost are about the only shows I watch without having a major ship (and even there I've got minor ships that died a horrible death. *L*).

I don't MIND Martha (or maybe I do, just a little bit, which I don't want to admit to myself), but I'd get so much more excited about Rose or Donna, or even Mickey, Jackie, Pete, Jack, Wilfred. Gee, that makes it sounds like I hate Martha. I really don't! For whatever reason she just doesn't make me feel much of anything. And I feel bad about that, but it's true.

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it got a bit over the top with the phone conversation and Cuddy definitely wouldn't have had a breakdown like that knowing others could hear her, but as for the personal aspect of the show that has always been there. I liked the baby plot line because Cuddy is so used to being in control and succeeding in everything that she does, that it was an interesting quirk to see her having so much trouble juggling having a life outside the hospital and also somewhat failing at something she has wanted so long. The characters relationships have always been part of the show, so I don't see a big difference in that way, but I do think the show has started to revolve more and more around 13 and that takes more focus then the medical mysteries and House's dynamics with the supporting cast. I think all the original characters have interesting aspects and they all add to House's personality. I am a recent shipper of House and Cuddy, but I have always liked her as a character and think she has a great dynamic with Hosue and Wilson. I loved Wilson being such a good friend to her in last night's episode.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't mind some personal stuff. Like...they could spend 1% of the episode on personal stuff. I'm giving that way. :D

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh to me last season and this one has slowly become more and more about 13. I would have liked her much better if she wasn't shoved down my throat.

I keep wondering if the actress is related to one of the producers or something.

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2009-01-27 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It is odd. The show has always focused on the other characters like Wilson, Cameron, Cuddy etc. but always in connection to House. Even the baby storyline is greatly connected to House insofar as his reactions to it. But Thirteen seems to have more story arcs then the main character and they are islanded. I do feel bad for the actress because I hear the fandom is being very vicious to her and I liked her on the very short lived but excellent show The Black Donnellys. I am being very careful about my involvement in the House fandom, because it seems very hostile and as you know I am trying to keep my pact. LOL

I don't know anything about BSG, because I've never seen it.

BUT I played the Battlestar Galactica board game on Sunday with some friends and I got to be Starbuck (there were only three female character cards in the game and she was the best one) and fly around blowing up cylons and generally being AWESOME while we accused the wrong person entirely of being a Cylon, getting him trapped in the brig, and eventually I got to be Admiral and launch nukes at the Cylons.

Humanity perished, but it was fun.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-28 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
BWAH!! I didn't even know there was such a game. :D

[identity profile] jabberwockypie.livejournal.com 2009-01-28 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
Not only does such a game exist, it's fricking awesome.

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/37111

I would totally buy a copy, but it's unlikely I'd be able to get enough players together often enough to make it worthwhile.

yeah BSG was more like BS....
they built up this crap and then last week happens and i was like...
meh.
yes, lee was the only interesting one, the president can just go die now plz, and now with this impending "mutiny" WTF? they need to throw Felix out the hatch and take the vice prez with him. This week's show had better be better *stomps foot*
as for freema/martha...
man, dont say that....i was just looking forward to a freema-less series/finale heh
i wouldn't mind her on TW though
and by the way WHEN IS TORCHWOOD COMING BACK>>!>>!?!?!?
has anyone heard anything? :(

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-01-30 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm getting incredibly irked at the President. She need to resign. REALLY needs to resign. The fact that she doesn't is all kinds of crap.

And I really don't want the Doctor to have to regenerate on his own. *sniffs*

The last I've heard about Torchwood is sometime this summer.
