YAY!

Okay, I've done it. I've ordered the Doctor Who Journal of Impossible Things. I know I need to be more careful with my money this year, but...MUST HAVE.

It's a copy of the journal they made for the S3 "Human Nature" episode where the Doctor's human persona - John Smith - creates a journal of fuzzy dreams he's having about the Doctor's life. There's stuff in there about all his incarnations ("I have inhabited the clothes of scholars and jesters and... I may have played cricket for England!"), about the TARDIS ("I feel safe there." "my magic box"), the sonic screwdriver, K-9 ("I know that I owned a dog, but I kept giving them or losing them. So I decided to protect it by making a kennel on wheels that covered it."), Martha ("And she's a Doctor. She wants to heal me. Why is being a Dr so important? To her and to me. I wish she could turn around so I can see who she really is."), and Rose ("I keep dreaming of a girl..."). And lots more - 78 pages!! - complete with doodles.

I really wish I knew who actually wrote the journal. It's fairly awesome.

ETA: Oh ha!! It comes with a sonic screwdriver pen! :D Hmmm. I'm sensing a prop for Stuffed Animal Theater.

STUFFED ANIMAL THEATER!!!!!!!!!!!! YAAAAAY!

(oh, and I want that book too)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm trying to figure out how the donkey is actually going to hold the screwdriver... :D

[identity profile] papilio-luna.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I am seriously flailing over my need for this. It's really more of a physical necessity of life at this point, like oxygen. Just...no money. Like literally none. Sigh.

Soon my precious. Soon I shall have you.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I KNOW. NEED. I figure I've been really good as far as my budget goes this month, and so it shall be mine!

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
The screwdriver pen is pretty cool too. It has replaceable batteries too, unlike the other sonic screwdriver I own.

OH GOD I CAN ACTUALLY TYPE SENTENCES LIKE THAT.

But yeah, I'm always supposed to be careful with money and somehow I just buy things. Often.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)

Oooooh.

OH GOD I CAN ACTUALLY TYPE SENTENCES LIKE THAT.

BWAH! I think you're going to have to accept your nerdom.

But yeah, I'm always supposed to be careful with money and somehow I just buy things. Often.

I'm usually pretty good about things, but I'll admit I do own all the Rose novels. :D

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
XD I think I've pretty much accepted my nerd-dom.

THIS REMINDS ME: I haven't piled up all my Doctor Who merch for a few months. I THINK IT MIGHT BE TALLER THAN ME NOW.

DID I MENTION I AM ON A BUDGET?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
HA!! All I've got are books and DVDS, and they're not taller than me. Well, maybe if I stand them on their ends.

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
This was taken last May. Since then I've got six new regular books, more comics, CDs, the s4 box set, and things like The Time Traveller's Almanac and The Writer's Tale. I'm pretty sure at this point my pile is taller than me.

The wonderful thing is, of course, that I'm quitting this show after the specials! XD

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
*SNORTS*

But what if they come out with new Nine or Ten era stuff after the specials?

[identity profile] shinyopals.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
PHOOEY, says I.

I don't know. I'll probably end up buying if they do, but I'd be a bit more hesitant because I'm assuming any serious merchandise (spin off books and audios) would have to be approved by Opal's-favourite-showrunner. Which might concern me.

But I'd probably buy it. XD

[identity profile] ginamak.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
STUFFED ANIMAL THEATER!!!!!!!!!! EEEEEEE!!!!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Now with PROPS! :D
ext_24600: (dw :: rose i create myself)

[identity profile] marcasite.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG, that is so awesome! I had no idea you could BUY IT! FTW!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
You can!! And there's a lot more stuff in it than we saw onscreen! Including more Rose stuff!
ext_24600: (torchwood :: they laugh to much)

[identity profile] marcasite.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to get it now, have to. Otherwise I will just sit and stew here; being jealous that you have it! LOL :D

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Well we wouldn't want that! :D

[identity profile] the-lucky-stars.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen some pictures and it looks AWESOME! Loads of the quotes are totally cute... jealous now, haha :D

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It does look amazing! Yeah, I love all the Rose stuff, but all the other stuff is completely adorable.

[identity profile] bastetseye.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
They really do appear to have gone all out with this peace of merchandise alot of effort seems to have gone into it!

Not like the Cassandra Frame, I can't believe that they actually though that was worth it's price, If I want a Cassandra replica I want the Bitchy Trampaline, not her frame!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
They didn't even include the trampoline part?

[identity profile] bastetseye.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, it was just the frame! Luckily I just saw it in the shop, and didn't buy it, but I checked everywhere on the box thinking no one could possble sell something that pathetic just to make money on the back of a tv programme, but apparently so!

[identity profile] bastetseye.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, but then so am I. When the shop brand that it was in was closing due to the credit crunch and they were selling everything at huge reductions, I did look to see if it was still there! Luckily it wasn't that's one purchase I would have felt guilty about buying even if it was a pound!

[identity profile] outforawalk.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I am so jealous! I wonder how much longer I can hold out.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh heh!

[identity profile] elirrina.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I want a sonic screwdriver pen! Well, I want the book too... I'll have to settle for pretending that my clicky highlighter is a sonic screwdriver for now, I guess.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It helps to make noises with your mouth. ;)

[identity profile] elirrina.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
:D oh, definitely!

[identity profile] larissa-j.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I ordered this and I can't wait to get it. I have no idea when I'm going to find time to read it but I still can't wait to get it!

I think all the stuff about Rose is magnificent.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)

I have the feeling I'll be paging through it the second I get it. :D

I think all the stuff about Rose is magnificent.

Totally! I thought what we saw onscreen would be it, but nope! MORE.

[identity profile] gowdie.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
OH! Thank ye, thank ye! I had seen this announced ways back - and all the links to buy in the UK. But I didn't realize it was available to order here! Which makes life so much simpler, and cheaper!

I've been repeatedly telling a friend that she had to wait for her Christmas prezzie, while I fretted. And now she will finally have.

Will have to order one for myself as well. Obviously.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)

*nods* I've done the UK route, and I'm pretty sure the shipping cost more than what I was getting.

Obviously!

Sometimes, living in Oz really gets my goat. This doesn't even come up on a local search - I hope we don't have to wait too long for it to turn up here.
Meantime, I hope you enjoy yours when it arrives (is a tiny bit jealous).

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Awww. Hopefully it won't be long.

[identity profile] pixiesio.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
*tries desperately to resist buying this*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Look at that willpower! :D

[identity profile] pixiesio.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It's damn tough! I even looked around other Who item selling sites, and none of them had that listed. So it's a rather unique item. *twitches*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sort of amused. When I ordered mine yesterday, there were 40 available for immediate delivery. Now they're down to 27. :D

Whona is fantastic at getting stuff over here though. Not sure how they do it.

[identity profile] pixiesio.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
*looks @ number left*

*goes to website and buys one*

*proceeds to shake fist @ you in an unconvincingly aggravated manner* ;)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
BWAH!!

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
I am so ordering this. It will go with my Betrothal of Sontar and the D/R stuff I bought at the DW exhibit in England. Hey have you finished all the Nine/Rose and Ten/Rose novels? I read three and have many more and want to start again. I would love to discuss them if you are interested. There is a DW novels comm, but it isn't active.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I have read all the Rose novels! It'd be fun if you'd post about them. :)

[identity profile] rattus-aerius.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to have to quit reading about this because I have no money. :(

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwwwww.

[identity profile] belanna-paris.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Is there alot of Rose/Doctor stuff in here? I was thinking of getting it from Argos when I am in town at the weekend.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
There's obviously the 2 pages we saw in the episode. But there's also more stuff scattered around. Like he goes on about the strong graceful woman who has golden eyes. And also there's a drawing of Rose in the TV from Idiot's Lantern. A mention of The Unquiet Dead "a single footprint in the snow..." And more drawings of roses - as in the flower.

[identity profile] belanna-paris.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool, I think I'll get it then.
