(no subject)

I just watched Kings and I think this show will be filling the soon-to-be BSG void nicely. It's got explosions, drama, palace intrigue, and a touch of prophecy.

Looks like the 2 hour premiere is up on Hulu and NBC.com. (Well, I say 2 hour - 80-90 minutes is more like it.)

Humph. Us Canadians are not allowed to access Hulu. It shows us shiny things that we can't have. Like window shopping!

I just thought you should know this. XD

That is a shame, because Hulu is a wonderful wonderful thing. And their commercial cracks me up.

There's a Dollhouse one too...less funny, but still enjoyable.

Yeah, that one's just okay.

You should go look at my journal.

Go HERE for a lesson on viewing stuff in other countries. I've used it successfully to watch stuff on the BBC web page which normally says you have to be in Britain to watch it.

I know it's talking about watching football but it's all the same technique.

I've heard that a lot, lately. Frankly I am not sure I want a replacement for BSG. It'll be nice to watch TV for fun again...

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
This one does promise to be high on the drama. Sort of...Rome-like. But you have to be in the mood for something like that.

[identity profile] zinke.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm... you are the second person on my f-list to describe the show this way. Good thing I set my DVR last night; it looks like I'll have something to watch tonight before the Jack Bauer Power Hour. *g*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It seemed the most similar of a comparison - not that the stories are the same, just the whole feel of it. I was pretty impressed.

[identity profile] sarae03.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh...I wanted to watch that (don't know how I missed it), so thanks for the heads-up on the Hulu post. The main reason I wanted to watch is because I thought I saw Susanna Thompson in at least one trailer for the series. However, she doesn't appear to be listed as a cast member at imdb.com. Was she in it?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm surprised IMDB doesn't have her listed. She is in it and plays the Queen. It's not the lead role or anything, but she does have a good-sized part in it.

[identity profile] sarae03.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I will definitely be giving it a view now...when I can find some time.
I hope you're continuing to feel better. :)

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
IMDB was missing several people from the list, from what I saw, including Eamonn Walker, which still hasn't been fixed. *shrug* I guess IMDB is only as good as the people adding the info?

If you're looking for some good new shows I've got two for you.

Joss Whedon's latest: Dollhouse. It is ridiculously fantastic just like everything else Joss Whedon does, and I really really don't want it to get prematurely canceled like Firefly did. So watch it, because it is tres good.

And Nathan Fillian's latest, Castle. Fangirl heartthrob Nathan Fillian plays this pompous, arrogant but charming best selling murder mystery author who starts helping the detectives find, well, murderers, because that's what he knows best. And I totally love him. It is hilarious and dramatic and just really fun all over. Watch it! Tonight at 9, (maybe, time zones confuse me) on ABC.

(And yes, one of the reasons I'm pumping Castle so much is because it is a Disney show since it's on ABC. YAY! It's like Disney Channel for grown ups!)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen these two advertised, but I don't want to start a show with the chance it'll get canceled. I'd rather wait. I took a chance on Kings because it looks like it has a certain life to it (13 episodes) that hopefully won't fall into the abyss.

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Ooooh. I'm really enjoying this show, too, and have high hopes for it. *crosses fingers that NBC will leave it on the air*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I found it really entertaining. *also crosses fingers*

It was fabulous and Ian McShane is just incredible.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
He was really good.

I wasn't impressed by it. Too slow, characters felt flat.

Eh. TV these days does not wow me.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It's so hard for me to find shows I like these days. This one was different enough for me to be interested.

I watched because I thought the premise sounded interesting, but the execution was ehh.

[identity profile] roseredathena.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It's on iTunes for free at the moment.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Nice!

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I though Kings was a couple of specials, not an on-going tv show.

More to add to the watching schedule...

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
On IMDB it's got 13 episodes listed, so...shortened season?
